Part of what Gunn talks about here is how people seem to forget that "Hero" and "Villain" are not interchangeable words with "Protagonist" and "Antagonist." Good guys and bad guys are defined by their actions and the way they behave in the world. Gunn tells the stories of his protagonists, even if they happen to be bad guys, and he treats them as fully fleshed out characters.

Peacemaker was so good! Great synergy having Kevin Smith give his two cents! Can't wait to hear him and Marc talk about the show on the Podcast!

James Gunn is one of, arguably the best, creators in the movie industry. It's a gift to hear what goes on in that guys mind, to be able to make these incredible 10/10 movies while infamously making the environment so fun and welcoming to the cast, and then writing and directing all at the same time! James Gunn really does have superhuman qualities in that regard. Kevin Smith is a match to him in knowledge so it's so cool to hear these highly detailed nuances in the industry you can tell they both share the same wavelength with. Everyone should be jealous of James Gunn, living the dream of creativity in cinema while having immense talent. Just to add, Vol3 is being supremely hyped up by the cast and film crew, that sort of marketing doesn't come very often and it always means the end product is going to be amazing. Very few projects these days have such immensely passionate teams that can't help but tell the world how excited they are to show everyone their work, and every single one of them tend to be very highly rated. The Expanse, SP:NWH, Peacemaker, Arcane, Deadpool, Mandalorian, to name a few projects that had cast and crew pretty much raving praise more about their project than marketing ever could. All of which turned out to be historic projects in cinema.

Cena is an absolute master imo. He's a much, much better actor than I had given him credit for and he treats the (excellent) material with both a light touch and a punch to the gut, which must be incredibly hard to pull off. Amazingly, each episode gets better than the last.

This is what is awesome to see directors/writers/creators talk to one another. So great!!!

I so want to work for mr. Gunn! 47yr old comic fan at heart…became a professional heavy equipment operator in Boston after being raised running heavy farming machinery as a youth in NH. His stories are so relatable to me that i feel being a part of the making process is what I dream of. Not to be a star or even any fame. Just a chance to use the skills I’ve acquired to build worlds that I love. Hopefully someone important sees this.

James Gunn is getting closer and closer to becoming my new favorite director. His raunchy humor, graphic violent action, lovable characters and choices for the score aways hits me in ways that no other films or TV series ever could. The guy is amazing at his craft.

Kevin Smith's production / writing was my first thought after watching this series! It was so amazing! so funny and brilliantly directed and written! I had to open up Google cause I was so hyped thinking we'll be getting something new from Kevin! I love James Gunn work, but it totally surprised me, I knew nothing about the show before watching it... John Cena is crazy talented and James Gunn did an awesome job and I'm so looking forward to a 2nd season.

I want a guided tour of James' music collection. He must have an entire record store in his house.

I was worried about them making peacemaker the character into too much a joke, which of course has become the tag line of the show. But what I mean is, he interesting because yes he is goofy, but he is also effective. And thorough. And I was worried after the first few episodes that he was just getting his ass kicked and looking too incompetent. But it was intentional and I'm glad to see it. This 4th episode really takes us there with him nailing the superhero landing and kicking judomasters ass. It feels like 6 episodes but I'm not sure how many it is.

Gunn is one of the few writer directors who is serious about his work and fights for his vision to be onscreen - unfortunately he is rare! Most people just bend the knee to the distributors who don't care about quality or originality and only want the blandest product possible to spread it as wide as possible for the mass media dollar ... Peacemaker will annoy a lot of people - for the incorrect elements, the violence and the Glam Metal soundtrack - which nails the characters aesthetics so well ...

I just watched 3rd episode this is killer the depth of the characters while still servng up dead pool quality delivery and Punisher level violence while also serving up massive comic book atmosphere this has legs...I really hope they challenge themselves to see where it can go

Vigilante very much makes you think of Deadpool. A even more messed up and more incompetent version but certainly a similar comedic vibe.

Question from someone who just started watching… I’ve completed the first four eps, and I’m having this internal debate with myself: are these REAL songs from the 80s? They sound so over-the-top ridiculous, that I initially thought they were just done for the show (especially the theme song) but then I started thinking after a while that I recognized a couple of them. The hair band period was pretty absurd at times, so I thought maybe some of these were real songs. The one at the end of Ep 4 in particular. Anyway…
