News flash Adam I am a journeyman lineman in California and I make over 400,000 a year and I don’t work for anyone but myself. When I wanna quit I quit when I wanna go to work I go to work I can pick my own hours and work when I wanna work. I can quit one day and decide to change my mind and go back to that company the very next day. Life of a lineman baby. $400,000 a year. But it’s not for everyone!!!!! Most can’t even get through and pass the apprenticeship. And yes we are union but most 99% of my brothers vote for Trump even though the union hall tries to get us to vote democrat. God first, then family, then the union. Oh and don’t call us electricians…….electricians wire houses lineman wire cities and towns !!!!!!!

google says "The average Journeyman Lineman salary in California is $103,390 as of May 28, 2024, but the range typically falls between $96,490 and $108,190." I can't find the California you are talking about. if you have reached the peak of your career MAYBE, but then it is dumb AF to bring it as an example. Me too! VERY EXPENSIVE paper that no one gives a crap about 5yrs later. Now that I have 30yrs experience, I'd rather teach my own nurses. They learn NOTHING in college. Colleges don't care because they get paid up front. 100% scam. Gotta think its about the same for every other degree.

Me too! 30yrs later, it's even worse. Schools get paid up front and couldn't care less what you learn. I'd rather train my own nurses because we do anyway. They pay $100k for a piece of paper and think they are hot shit. End up crying everyday because they can't do the job. Worse, they put people's lives in danger. 100x worse after covid because all the good nurses quit or retired.

That's why "real scooling" should go to junior high, but apprenticeship from age 7 and up. That's everything from mowing the lawn with dad, dishes with mom to then TA along side teachers, apprentice alongside garbage man to hedgefund manager and everything in between. Then, you pick it and stick with it. No one still knows what they want to do when they graduate with BA because they have never done anything!

When I lived in Santa Barbara, I would take my daughter on shopping trips to 3rd Street Promenade, or we'd stop there on our way to Disneyland or Universal Studios. You could walk around with your bags and feel safe. We haven't been by there since 2018 and its so sad to think it sank that low in just 6 years. Wow! This state sucks!!!

For parents, spend time with your kids, keep your word and get to know their friends….my suggestion. Also, read to them when they are young…my husband did this for our daughter every night after supper. We are Christians, so we trained up our child. Our daughter is now 34, and a joy to be around….nothing is more delightful than a happy lady♥️

My dad used to work in janitorial at a theatre company that saw a lot of famous stage actors come through in the 70s etc. He always reminded me and issued a warning to be mindful around actors/ actresses because you never knew when they were being genuine or in character. Newsflash! This single parent Mom had my children working when they were 5 years old. My son learned numbers delivering newspapers at age 5; youngest person to ever have a checking account and pay for his own scholastic books at school. The teacher phoned and got the account shut down. My daughter ran lemonade stands at 5 and by 7 she was going door to door with me to raise money for the kidney foundation. By 15/16 my son was raising support for his own film projects. They got their own jobs in high school and bought their own clothes. Today they are successful property owners.

Vinnie is superb......do not change. You hit it spot on, and I love your conviction in your perception of the events. Intelligent and shrewd. The only downfall of the PBD podcasts (in my opinion) is the selling of merchandise....it cheapens the intergrity of the podcasts. Financially I estimate it is not necessary....so PBD, please consider to dump the excessive "selling". You are finer than that

I own a fast food chain and I’ve never had parents try to be apart of the interview but I have had them vouch for their kids while they pick up applications on their behalf. More than half the time when kids want a day off or they’re sick, they have their parents call in for time off. Every time I ask them to have the person I actually hired relay that message to me.

It’s bad and dangerous because the US is not only funding the Ukraine with billions of dollars but the US is using weapons against Russia. In other words the US needs to stay out of it because the Ukraine will never win.

@@lancelittrell369 none of the ships of the fleet carry nukes; at least that is the official US story. This is a publicity stunt a-la the Cuban Missile Crisis, intended to make a point. In fact Russia doesn't need Cuba in order to pose a nuclear threat to the US - there are ICBM submarines for that purpose (missile cruiser submarines). The sub in Cuba is not a missile cruiser.

I'm Gen X and this thing is absolutely astronomically ridiculous that anybody would even consider having their parents have anything at all to do with an interview. I can understand them driving them and waiting in the car and saying let's pray before you go in and things like that to support their kid, but they shouldn't be anywhere near the inside of a building where their child is interviewing.... that is absolutely unbelievable!

I’m Gen X too, and I worked with a mama’s boy who’s mommy brought him his lunch to work every day and sometimes he used to hang out and talk to other employees it was kind of creepy

@@bmommyx2 on one hand I'm my own kind of helicopter parent because when I was 11 years old, me and my buddy would get on the bus at 5:00 in the morning and take a 45 minute to an hour long ride alone to Seal Beach California and spend all day there in the ocean with sharks no money and no cell phones, however, when my kids were little I didn't tell them, hey you can go ride 20 miles a day on your bicycle to wherever you want and come home when the lights go on. I didn't do that because I think the world has gotten progressively more bat poo crazy, especially here in COMMIEFORNIA, but there are certain fundamental values that you just instill in your kids if you came from Gen X and that's got to be one of them: You don't go on the job interview with your kid.

I owned a construction business for 20 years, I was able to take vacations. I did delegate authority, and I had foreman who I trusted that were able to manage my projects. I usually had 20 to 30 employees and I made great money. When I sold the business, I did quite well, and now I’ve started smaller businesses utilizing less employees and less babysitting, which allows me to be semi retired.

This is a FACT. 90% of the audience are EXHAUSTED by Adam, yet he maintains his place on this panel. WHY??? PBD would be BROKE if he had to pay $1 for every time he was forced to ask Adam "WHATS YOUR POINT??" Because ALL ADAM DOES is repeat things that have already been said since he never pays any attention to the discussion at hand. Something ON HIS PHONE is far more interesting to him. It gives everyone else the chance to rebut 6 different ways and make him look stupid. He is the foil. They usually don't let him speak enough to upend the show. You can see how PBD structures the show so Adam doesn't tank the ratings. When he does go off the rails, the following week is very subdued.

We live seven minutes from 3rd street promenade on one of the "college streets" It is much less busy than it used to be, we were just there today, so it was really funny listening to the guys story. It is not the same, much more homeless, however we didn't notice any smell today. The pier is still very busy, but it is unfortunate that there is about a 30% vacancy rate. Thanks for the story guys, my kids were laughing!

I left the California Bay Area less than a year ago. I was born a raised there, just couldn't take it anymore. It was depressing to watch it get worse over the years, I hope it will improve someday but probably not in my lifetime, it's a shame.
