Tim's ability to interview and the way he curates the conversation is extremely underrated IMO. I never struggle to sit through 1-2 hours of TFS. Kevin was an awesome subject in this one, also.
This interview was fantastic! I had no idea Kevin was so cool! The recommendations for books were plentiful, and there were so many great tips shared. I'm incredibly grateful for watching this episode. Thank you for sharing Tim!
Tim - thanks for doing what you do, dude. I know that's been said a million times now. You're humanizing the untouchable and inspiring us all to be our best selves. That's big. And I'm grateful.
This is one of the best interviews I've watched in awhile. It was filled with thought provoking content, and thankfully, void of extraneous junk. THANK YOU!!!
Its always great to hear from you tim. Love your podcast. Kindly share a must know things like best skills, must reads etc for students as well so that they can make a better future for themselves.
I will definitely be sharing this podcast! I was deeply interested from start to finish, and encouraged as a fellow person who loves what I'm shooting for. Thank you both.
At 1:11:55 Kevin says that his one piece of advice that people usually ignore is to solve a problem and that it's Instagram's secret sauce. Really curious what problem Instagram solved that wasn't being addressed before. Not knocking Instagram's amazing success but its existence seems to fly in the face of that advice.
Jeff Cannon Agree. I also thought this piece of advice sounds good at first glance, but it's often hard to always pinpoint what the problem is. I guess the main takeaway is to really focus on the substance of the product and the strategy instead of betting on a trend or buzzwords to bring you success.
I feel like the problem that Instagram addressed was a little hazy. But the fact was that people cared more about photos and videos in particular than they did for a platform that combined those with a bunch of other junk (Facebook). People wanted an exclusive platform for photos and videos, and Instagram was it. I agree with your point though. It would've been very interesting if Tim had raised this query or asked him to apply this theory to Instagram's founding.
This video was recorded on one of the top floors of the Frost Bank Tower, a building in Austin, Texas. Look it up. It's just the architecture of the building.
at the end when kevin recommends loving the end of goal whatever project you are/want to start at first seemed like really basic advice (having heard that from every other podcast, book, article etc) although as soon as you two started talking about how often the day to day can suck, that was what got to me. Like most TF listeners, ive been bit with the entrepreneurial bug and am trying to get project or two off the ground, although somedays it was be such a drag and then once I get annoyed with the day-day soon afterwards "imposter syndrome" kicks in and before I know it im not working on anything just because of the difficulty of the daily grind. Really appreciate the "end goal" advice :)
Tim, I just loved your best seller one of working 4 hrs a week ok. I ask you, is there any possibility of you generating new content with Portuguese subtitles or even launching very short motivational videos of 3 or 5 minutes dubbed for Brazilians? With caption and dub. I'm sure you can do it. We Brazilians await you with open arms my noble.
I haven't seen one of these shows before on RU-vid. I *adored* The Random Show so it's great being able to watch your interviews. What an interesting guy is Kevin. Thanks for making this.
Came here after watching a kid answer questions to be a millionaire. One of the questions was on the first Instagram pic. Then searched for Kevin systrom and found this interview. My first search was why Indians are good in maths.
*54:50** Intrinsic* : a) belonging to a thing by its very nature: the intrinsic value of a gold ring. b) Anatomy. (of certain muscles, nerves, etc.) belonging to or lying within a given part. *Close* , the word kinda fits, really stretching that "within" part of the word - intrinsic . the word focuses more on something having a *value, BEFORE* it is used for something else, like paint colours cost something, when then used for a painting, it could be worth more. *Underrated interview!* That thumbnail made me click, so cool.
i worked at trip advisor years ago, it was a miserable work experience and so was everybody else, a guy behind me would break out in tears all the time,
It blows my mind that incredibly awesome and masterclass level conversations like this are just sitting around waiting to be found on RU-vid. 79K people are now a whole lot smarter than they were before they found this gem. Much obliged to Kevin, Tim, and RU-vid. 😊
@SamuelTheFox nobody care about your opinion, and wtf you doing in this channel. why don't you live in an isolated cave somewhere in africa, i bet internet won't be able to ruin your precious cave
