He had poor rehabilitation then. The people around him didn’t help him train his body correctly and strengthen the injured complex through resistance and mobility work.
The way he plays now is nothing like how he played back then. He is more defensive minded now and does more rebounding than scoring. He's the ultimate team guy. He is willing to do whatever they need him to do in order to win. He's a true ironman and professional. It's mind boggling how good his all around offensive gm was.
Im not a pro nor a sports person but ive been injured badly and fkn injuries really take all the confidence out of your soul... wish a safe recovery for all people out there struggling
Looney still has that game just he’s on a different level now and he knows his role with the warriors . He just needs that confidence back and he’ll be fine .
Now I understand why he’s a star in his role. He’s a guy who’s been underestimated probably his whole career n has developed a career off pure iq n skill. He’s ultra competitive n a warrior great. Respect 👌
So interesting to see how drastically different his role is now in the NBA. Wonder how he felt during that adjustment and kudos to him for making that adjustment
He still is. He is just playing against bums. Every backup center in the NBA can do this against non-NBA talent. There are videos on youtube of steven adams being lights out from 3 and shooting fadeaways in practice. Ben simmons shoots in pickup games and hits crazy shots. Montrezl Harrell looks like a beast against lesser comp.
@@Dr.HowieFeltersnatch These are terrible examples, cause there are even more bigs that couldnt do this at any level, while the 2 guys you mentioned were lauded for their talent - and what they could be in Ben Simmons case. Very special case, that guy..
@@theinktician I named 3 people not 2, so I don’t think you even read my comment. You think steven adams and montrezl harrell were lauder for their talent? Monztrezl was a 2nd round pick and adams was drafted as a rebounding big. If there are so many bigs that can’t do this on any level, name 3. Ill wait.
It’s amazing really something how injuries and surgery can really change you. Your body your confidence your ability and to ppl he looks and seems completely normal😮🙏🏾
I think he still has it its just sometimes the nba holds you back with what the team needs and its suppressing to his true talent still either way you gotta love looney
No cos if Looney was the main man, GSW wouldn't even make the playoffs. Pretty sure every NBA player was a star prospect until the reality check that there's another unlocked level above normal NBA.
You do realize what he "always had" doesn't work against the greatest players in the world. Any NBA role player can look like a star against inferior competition.
I follow the mock drafts every year before the college season starts and right after the NBA draft every year and I remember Looney was projected to go in the top 10 that year and fell ALL THE WAY DOWN to like 30.
How ? He’s playing kids. The league is a whole different level. Performing on par with professionals far succeeds seeing him scoring on jumpers vs inferior competition
Looney played on a stacked AAU team called the Milwaukee Rebels that featured him and this electric, little point guard named Demontrae Jefferson. Man those were the good Ole days.
I’m a ucla fan, and Looney was a stud. I think he’s still growing and it affected his hips. He definitely looks taller than he was in college. I think he plays his role well at GSW
Sometimes because of the roles you play in a team..you never get to show yourreal game...until you get used to the skill set that you are limited to..and thats how far you could only go
He no Dennis Rodman but, he went from a dog in high school to a rebound master in the NBA. Only after he was plagued by injuries before and after college. Then a double hip surgery right before the NBA. . Props to not giving up, he made a way and helped Golden get a ring. Resilience, when there is a wil there is a way.
No way this is Loon. This is crazy, I understand this is not NBA talent just highschool - but he looked like a completely different player, his body even looked like a swingman Small Forward type of build. His jumper was smooth and his handle seemed tight. Wow.
It’s crazy pat bev said I don’t do in the league what I did in HS. Look like Loon had handles and a jumper. Now he rebounds and plays great defense but we rarely see the offensive side of him.
We need this loon back on the warriors they act like all he can do is set screens and rebound i know he lost some mobility because of the surgery but he can still shoot
it just shows how the NBA works, look atbhis game very different from his role in GSW. Good for him he adjusted well unfortunately alot of players didn't, Okafor,Fults,Simmons, in terms of changing what position they play
Real talk. I grew up with a guy named Will Avery that played for Duke and the Twolves. Dude was one of the best players I’ve seen in person and he was out of the league in 3 years
This is everyone in the NBA. Pat Bev was a beast at highschool now he is a defensive specialist and not really a scorer. You got to find your role basically.
I don't understand why he didn't shoot the middy during the Laker series because I knew he had it. I know he got hurt, but the middy still gotta be there somewhere.
@@MojoFN-s-1509-u-3256-b-1386 lol are you sure you’re making sense? All I see is a hip injury in college and he literally didn’t miss any practices or games 💀
