“Christendom has had a series of revolutions and in each one of them Christianity has died. Christianity has died many times and risen again; for it had a God who knew the way out of the grave.” G.K. Chesterton

Oh, I love that quote. Chesterton was wrong -- but it's still beautiful.

Christians remained the largest religious group in the world in 2015, making up nearly a third (31%) of Earth's 7.3 billion people. Some think of Christianity as the sect which has best known how to survive for a long time.

Wow...a cardinal going behind bars?...Let it be if this Cardinal is really guilty. It will teach a lesson for all the others.....especially if one is holding a rank and position in the Church.

I once asked my Ukrainian grandmother why she emigrated to America. She told me that she was tired of being hungry all the time. I am not sure what she would have thought of a modern Ukraine that is not only the bread basket of Europe, but the bread basket of the world

Great show, John. I love it that you can make fun of yourself. I've always thought that trait a sign of good mental health. And, sartorially speaking, I love that jacket -- great color for you.

This Pope as a living saint is traveling from success to more success spreading his message of Franz v.Assisi. his teachings are highly welcomed especially by the poor and disadvantaged and are going to revolutionize catholicism itself. He doesn't care a bit about his own health.

I am curious how many of those young people who attended World Youth Day in Denver back in 1984 still consider themselves Catholic now that they are in late middle age approaching senior citizenship

Take a look at Becciu and read him what he is thinking and what he is doing.... A man or woman will let you know what they are inside of themselves, just by the way they talk, walk and think: Really listen to what they say...

"We have got" ??? "Questions laid to rest" ? I'm enjoying discovering your news. Unfortunately, the televisual interest is so slight that your recording has come over as an overlong radio broadcast. By half-way, I was wondering whether we'd reach the Impeached Cardinal*** at all! However, i have time and will persist. May I make some more personal remarks? Your grey shirt is very presbyteral, but I'm not sure that the colour is a good match to the jacket. I wonder how many others preferred you wearing a neatly trimmed beard? i suppose you've already treated Opus Dei, which for me was a major undersung scandal. *** Why is he a "key" Cardinal? Keep up the good work (I almost said "Father"). P.S. that old chestnut about Marie-Antoinette can not be true. Jean-Jacques Rousseau wrote in 1765 about "a princess" who suggested this solution to the lack of the daily baking of bread. (But cake, or rather brioches need flour too!) At the time, M-A was not yet 10 years old and did not arrive in France until 1770! It certainly wasn't the peasants' complaining that she heard, either. Townspeople and citizens of nearly every class were affected by the shortage of corn (not at all the fault of the monarchy, but due to two years of drought and famine).

Unless joined in uncertainty of belief in a consecrated marriage, either male female vowed to God or celibate vowed to man in Christ, on the reference point of Mary in her consent in her uncertainty of her belief to be joined in both these marriages immediately successively (Lk 1:38; Mt 1:24), it is not possible to out occult the "worldwide catastrophe" (Pope Francis, 10 October 2021) of the occult evil of sexual abuse of psychologically and emotionally vulnerable family members by helpers of the family within the family causing "the great majority of [purported presumed] sacramental marriages to be invalid" (Pope Francis, 16 June 2016).

Catholic Social Teaching - Yes. Liberation Theology which is just political Marxist ideology - No. Social Justice Warrior - No. Soldier of Christ - Yes. Pope JohnPaul l: "I think that the Magisterium of the Church will never sufficiently insist in presenting and recommending the solution of the great problems of freedom, justice, peace, development; and Catholic laity will never fight sufficiently to solve these problems. It is wrong, on the other hand, to state that political, economic and social liberation coincides with salvation in Jesus Christ, that the Regnum Dei is identified with the Regnum hominis, that Ubi Lenin ibi Jerusalem." Paul Vl Octogesima Adveniens 80th anniversary of Rerum Novarum, May 1971: "At a third level, Marxism' whether in power or not, is viewed as a socialist ideology based on historical materialism and the denial of everything transcendent. At other times, finally, it presents itself in a more attenuated form, one also more attractive to the modern mind: as a scientific activity, as a rigorous method of examining social and political reality, and as the rational link, tested by history, between theoretical knowledge and the practice of revolutionary transformation. Although this type of analysis gives a privileged position to certain aspects of reality to the detriment of the rest, and interprets them in the light of its ideology, it nevertheless furnishes some people not only with a working tool but also a certitude preliminary to action: the claim to decipher in a scientific manner the mainsprings of the evolution of society. While, through the concrete existing form of Marxism, one can distinguish these various aspects and the questions they pose for the reflection and activity of Christians, it would be illusory and dangerous to reach a point of forgetting the intimate link which radically binds them together, to accept the elements of Marxist analysis without recognizing their relationships with ideology, and to enter into the practice of class struggle and its Marxist interpretations, while failing to note the kind of totalitarian and violent society to which this process leads." Cardinal Ratzinger CDF 1984: "The present Instruction has a much more limited and precise purpose: to draw the attention of pastors, theologians, and all the faithful to the deviations, and risks of deviation, damaging to the faith and to Christian living, that are brought about by certain forms of liberation theology which use, in an insufficiently critical manner, concepts borrowed from various currents of Marxist thought........ "....it is proper to emphasise those essential aspects which the "theologies of liberation" especially tend to misunderstand or to eliminate, namely: God and true man; the sovereignty of grace; and the true nature of the means of salvation, especially of the Church and the sacraments. One should also keep in mind the true meaning of ethics in which the distinction between good and evil is not relativized, the real meaning of sin, the necessity for conversion, and the universality of the law of fraternal love. One needs to be on guard against the politicisation of existence which, misunderstanding the entire meaning of the Kingdom of God and the transcendence of the person, begins to sacralise politics and betray the religion of the people in favour of the projects of the revolution." Cardinal Muller former CDF head, Mar 2023: "The Church does not reject the goal of liberation. For the “liberty and glory of the children of God” (Rom. 8:21) is the goal and reason for God’s revelation as the truth and life of every human being, and every good theology explicates this theme. The elevation of man to God’s sonship in Christ and to God’s friendship in the Holy Spirit, including liberation from original sin, personal sins, and all the evils of body and soul, is the motive of God’s saving action in the creation, redemption, and perfection of man, whom he created in his image and likeness. Liberation theology at its best understands this. Its temptation, however, is to understand liberation in material terms, as the achievement of perfect economic and social conditions. It is unfortunate that many in the liberation theology movement mistook Christian salvation for Marxist self-redemption."

So good catholics pay for evil catholics. Those evil ones who committed the crimes were overwhelmingly homosexual priests and a hierarchy that protected them. Looks like Pope Francis has done the same. Maybe clean house should be the goal for good catholics.

The world youth were done to bring the youth people to Christ, the world of Lisbon is only gathering of young people to party and gather in Lisbon to support each other in the journey of life, not to bring Christ to the youth, according to what bishop Americo ( future cardinal) who said “We don’t want to convert the young people to Christ or to the Catholic Church or anything like that at all,” said Bishop Américo Aguiar, the head of World Youth Day (WYD) Lisbon 2023 who will be created a cardinal by Pope Francis in September.” So why go ?

Must disagree re a pontiff and celebrating Mass. For the last year, yes 365 days, this pope has not celebrated Mass in public. He only presides. And the itinerary in Portugal includes only ONE mass at which he will attend, and only preside. No Mass in public on other days, but still a private meeting with Jesuits. This status of a Roman pontiff not celebrating Mass cannot go on and on. The pope needs to celebrate Mass, not preside. Oh, and the constant mention of numbers at WYD really is way off beam. That 1 million or more attend is of no spiritual import. Take a good look. There will be hundreds of bishops and nuns who ate NOT youth. They just attend with youth. And numbers really are bloated. There is no actual counting. But at Catholic events numbers are always totally blown out. In the end the numbers have no import. What matters is the faith of the faithful, young or old.
