@@FloridaFishingCoupleWell, I am currently living in the Maritimes, that's eastern Canada. They have licenses (Up to a million dollars) and lobster boats, but that doesn't mean people don't go out and get them illegally with a landing net. So I will not comment any further than that. Huge fine if you get caught but I know people do it. And so does the DFO.
icimblind: So it appears our laws differ greatly, especially for recreational lobstering here in Florida. We get to take 6 per day here in Monroe county during season which lasts from late July for the 2 day mini season and then August 6 through March 31. Thank you for watching, subscribing, and commenting on our channel. - Capt Dan & Elizabeth
Loved watching you catch lobster!!! Looked so easy! Wish I could do that! Once Elizabeth got in the water though, I lost track of what you caught! Keep up the great videos!!!
Thanks for taking us with you through ol’ RU-vid. If nobody has told you already, your production quality gets better with every video. When we go down to FL next summer, we might make a side trip down to the Keys during the mini-season and give catching lobsters a try. I guess I better start reading up on rules and regs, eh?
Thank you SO much!! All of this video production really has a big learning curve. Our goal is to make each video better than the last, so REALLY appreciate your feedback on that! Back to lobstering, YES - seriously review those rules and regulations BEFORE you come down next year. Actually, go ahead and save our lobster mini season prep video, because we show you exactly where to find the regs and give some good tips - all of which will still be relevant next year. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TIw_x1QWCpI.html Please hit us up when you head back down here!! We'd love to meet you guys!! -Elizabeth & Capt. Dan
Elizabeth and Capitan Dan. We will for sure watch that video again and review those regs. I’ll also have to start collecting equipment. It would be fun for Stella and I to meet up with you guys and maybe literally FOLLOW YOU out to some of these spots! 😄 Hey, how deep was the water in this video anyway? About 10ft?
Wow fast work on the editing! Good work guys loved it! They were so tasty. Love the laugh out of Elizabeth after she says the lobster is bigger than her head!
Good job y’all! Especially using those snares. I can’t seem to use them underwater I gotta grab em by hand but we keep one on the boat to rescue pelicans. They got a hell of a snap. Wonderful video & fantastic job getting it up timely! Bravo Capt. Dan & Elizabeth 👏🏼👏🏼
MrBrymstond: We love lobster season here in the Keys - makes us very happy! Really appreciate you subbing and watching our channel. -Capt Dan & Elizabeth
Man I really miss those days! However, I know how the normal public goes crazy on those two days. Went through 19 seasons there during mini season and caught lots of bugs down there.
Another great video. I’m fairly new to the channel, so I may have missed it....but have you guys done either of the following videos yet??? 1; how you 2 met... 2; detailed review of your boat and gear.
nyjay75: Welcome to our RU-vid family! We do have a video about our boat and I included the direct link below. We do not have a video about how we met (maybe an idea for the future!) Anyway thanks for watching, commenting, and subbing our channel. Here is the link for the boat review: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WiKM0wlF6pI.html -Capt, Dan & Elizabeth
Another superb upload from captain dan and Elizabeth great footage and the water is Crystal clear .beautiful nothing like the murky waters of the uk. And your upload with heiko last week during the storm wow helm master dan would feel safe fishing in any weather with you's florida fishing is on another level.keep up the good work guys cheers
Mark Franks: Thanks for the heartfelt comment. I grew up in New York where the water was murky to say the least. Love diving here in Florida where the water looks like gin! -Capt Dan
@@FloridaFishingCouple hopefully in the not to distant future will make the big move there been wanting to since the early 90s we were lucky enough to do vacations to florida ever since we were kids and think my kids would benefit from that way of life, the only draw back is trades in the uk an't trades in the us so without a sponsor we have to go the harder route and plow everything in to my home here and with a bit of luck in a few years it will all work out.lol
Looked like a great time in the water, thanks for sharing it with us and letting us follow you in your adventures. A question to compare notes though, did you see any lion fish? We limited out in The keys also but did not see a single lion fish, that is a good sign! Also, another reason for a person in the boat is because the improper store of gear can even make some measuring sticks shrink a tiny bit with time, having that second person double checking the catch is a safety net. I mean look, FWC was on site and a boat was boarded. Thanks for the great video, and thanks for posting. Can't wait for what's next!
We must have been fishing the same waters because we did not see a single Lionfish either. The FWC boarded our friend Heiko’s boat as well as a few others but not ours. -Capt. Dan
Michael Plesch: Welcome to our RU-vid family Michael. We appreciate you subbing and supporting our channel. Hopefully, lots of vids coming soon. -Capt Dan & Elizabeth
Great video! New here and I just subscribed. I am near Ft Lauderdale and really enjoy seeing other Florida RU-vidrs. I will be watching for the next one!
Great day yall. Awesome how Elizabeth emphasized the safety in the beginning. Sucks I'm not there this year. Doctors orders. Maybe when the regular season opens
Fishing with Jeff: We use a copper grill plate to cook all of our fish and lobster on the grill. It stops bits of fish from falling in between the grated but still leaves grill marks. It’s great to cook with. I’ll have Elizabeth reach out and send you the link to where we buy them. -Capt. Dan
Typically 8 - 20ft. Capt. Dan has full dive gear and does deeper dives, but Elizabeth is working on that certification. So, it just depends on the day. This day, we were in about 8-15 feet free diving. -Elizabeth & Capt. Dan
Let me tell you something at 50 I could tell you all kinds of grouper holes you could in Everglades National Park in Florida Bay where you could tear the grouper and the Crawfish up. By landmarks. But no longer allowed.
Thanks Danny!! I'm sure we will put out a TON of lobster videos once the regular season opens!! It's just around the corner and we can't wait!! -Elizabeth
No. I missed this year since I went down for 12 days at beginning of june/July. But killed the Red Snapper, 2 weekend mini Season. I saw everybody killed
It is called mini season because it runs for a couple of days only. Then it closes until regular season opens for a few month's time. There is more to it but, that's the watered down version.
Michelle Fitch: So mini- season is a two day sport season open to divers and recreational lobstering only. The regular commercial season opens Aug. 6. Mini-season gives everyone a chance to catch lobster before the commercial guys are allowed to set their traps. -Capt. Dan
Ahh thanks Capt. Dan, Umm I am hoping that some day really soon I can come fishing with you and Elizabeth. I have family in Sarasota and have been pondering being one of those Ohio people that gives up on the winter weather and just pick up and move south. I hope I can hitch a ride on your boat to fish lol...Thanks for the entertainment. Keep up the wonderful footage!!!@@FloridaFishingCouple
Great story of the day Dan and Elizabeth. Those tails looked amazing coming off the grill. My friend brought me a few back from the keys since I can’t dive this year. Tight lines
Wow, what a day of lobstering, great video, always following you guys, and Heiko as well lol. I do miss going out for lobster, used to back in Puerto Rico. Be safe and keep those videos coming
Thanks Michel!! There is nothing like fresh caught lobster!! We appreciate you watching and commenting, and we are really looking forward to Heiko's video too! We'll all be watching together!! -Elizabeth & Capt. Dan
You guys want to know my spot and have an unlimited amount of lobsters? 😎 Go to Cudjoe Key, take a road called Blimp Road, go all the way straight down until you get to a boat ramp. At least 200+ lobsters we found in no more than three feet of water. Good luck, happy lobsters 😂
The quality keeps getting better. Which is not great for the small facehugging water aliens that sound horrible! Can you not wave flags or mark the water somehow?
This whole thing is a learning process, so we try to make every video better than the last. We have a HUGE dive flag up any time there are snorkelers or divers in the water. Boats kept getting so close that we finally also put a floating dive flag in the water with Ethan and Matthew. It's a pain to drag that around with you in addition to everything else you have to carry for the lobstering, but better safe than sorry. -Elizabeth
When I was a kid in the seventies we got all the Crawfish in the Bay. Never had to go on the ocean side for crawfish. But that was before Everglades National Park. Man X was so good back then.🇺🇸💪 there were basically no people in the keys back then.😁😁😁😁😁😁🇺🇸
