@@KeyWestWaterman wanted you to know that we love your show. I wanted to live like your living so badly growing up man I went and got my 6 pack at like 21 and have had it ever since but never used it. I grouper fished my whole life over here on the west coast just south of Homosassa and I’ve owned a boat my whole life. If not a grouper boat a flats boat for trout and red fishing. But all my friends say I could catch a Gag in a mud puddle!! Anyway just wanted to say that my brother and I watch your show every Monday. And look forward to it every week. I meant no disrespect with the comment above just scares me when you do something like that. Afraid you’re going to get pinned in there and not be able to get out. You know how shit happens out there sometimes.
Watching this video is why you are my favorite you Tuber ! There is nothing better than watching a person who is REAL , HUMBLE , DOWN TO EARTH & Direct to his viewers ! Question... Can I be you ? Answer... I am already taken !!! L M A O ! GREAT ANSWER ! 🤣🤣🤣
We really appreciate your honesty, and respect your attention to your mental health (and some of the tough decisions and boundaries that it takes to maintain that). Keep up the good work you two.
I only made it half way and look forward to watching the other half but I think that is why most people like to watch your videos is because of your personality. You are a refreshing change to what most charter captains are like.
I completely understand your perspective on guiding. I have a passion for hunting, fishing and cooking. At different points of my life I’ve done each on a commercial basis, be it guiding or cooking or both. After a while these things that brought me enjoyment just became another job and another source of stress in my life. I’m not blaming my change in mentality on the clients, good or bad, meeting other’s expectations just took the joy out of all three of my passions. I still do all three today but it’s just different than it used to be and I do it my terms and I’m not afraid to say!”no” anymore. Much respect for your decision to get out of the guiding business. I hope you and Madeline find peace as you move to the next phase in your relationship.
I knew it! I knew you were a full introvert when I first saw you. Me too, 100% Love your videos. Don't be afraid to take breaks for family. That's more important than us. We'll be here when you get back.
love your honesty brother. some people don't appreciate that quality in people. and collabs are the way to go, be friends with all youtubers you will pick up more fans and subs. its a friendly formula . the smaller ch needs support too, its not so much a line to cross as it is a opportunity to be had by both if the schedules can meet.
As a young man, I guided on one of the major Missouri River impoundment lakes in the Dakota's. The last summer I guided there, I went sixty three day's straight without a break. It completely burned me out. I know what you are talking about, and although I cherish the experiences I had interacting with a lot of great people, and a few jerks, I'm afraid it did break me. I went on to other occupations and never regained the passion for fishing I once had. Smart move you've made here, I wish I'd have recognized what was happening to me like you have.
yea I believe it, I think my longest streak was like 26 days or something like that, we get blown out alot for weather. but I hope to never lose that passion!
I’m a Brevard County Native also and happy for you and your success. You have a great page and I’m always excited to see your new posts. Love the Gheenoe setup.
Good for you in making your work/life balance better. I’m there as well. I’ve been an RN for 32 years, 22 yrs in the ER and currently as a flight nurse. Working with the public takes its toll. I have 5 more years and I’m done!
Please listen to the song “Limelight” from the band Rush. Read the lyrics as well, either as you listen or just have them as reference. The song was written by drummer Neil Peart who also is/was a shy person, regular guy who didn’t feel comfortable with attention from strangers. There are a few lines in that song that will likely really resonate with you. At the end of the day the songs talks about how we all have our dreams - his was to perform music on “the lighted stage”….your stage is this channel, and you also have an audience, and now that audience treats you like you’re someone they know or their “buddy”. Total strangers come up to you and act like they know you. But alas we all have to “get on with it” and put aside the fears and the alienation. Which you’ve done, only to find yourself in this situation. I think you’ll really like the song if you haven’t already dove into it and the words and their deeper meaning.
I don’t dive and I’m a multiple stroke survivor but I just wanted tell you that I completely enjoy your channel and very much look forward to your videos. I wish you and Madeline all the best that life has to offer! Joe PS: Introverts rule!
Love the answer to that last question. Thanks for the great content. Your hard work really shines through to your videos and conversation with us as viewers. I live in PA and I was born in Fl. I always use your videos as my argument for why I want to go back to Fl. Don’t worry, I’m a Gulf Coast guy. Cheers to your future many positive vibes from us here to you there.
I’m thrilled your channel has grown enough that it allows you to do more spearfishing. Hoping to see more Madeleine with you. Where are you taking your honeymoon since you already live in paradise.
Aaron, loved the Q and A and really appreciate your candor, directness, and your honesty. You do you far better than any of us who admire you and your work. You and your beautiful bride-to-be and even Will (whoever he is!) have found a way into the hearts of many. I look at your channel, your consistency with content and even with dropping a new video every Monday, your take on the planet and how we fit into it, and compare what you have done versus someone like Robert Arrington and your "product" is far more attractive to me. You've grown two very successful businesses in two very competitive markets, you live on and in some of the prettiest water in the country, you have landed a super young lady and a great friend/chef/roommate, and I think there are a few of us out here who wish we could do what you do for a week or two - until just before it becomes "work" for us as well. You are a good man, full of integrity and compassion, and you deserve all the good that is coming your way. Please continue to share parts of your life with us and take us on your adventures, wherever they may lead you! Send my regards to the Tortugas....Congratulations!
Love the vids. I am a Jersey/ocean boy. I live in the mountains but long to live by the ocean its in my blood. These vids bring some salt air smell to me!! Thank you and Maddie!
The ONE and ONLY time i saw you in public was at Home Depot while you were looking at refrigerators and it happened to be shortly after you posted a Grouper Opener vid one year. I hadn't been able to go out yet, but I watched your video and I said "Hey man, thanks for the Grouper vid, it made me feel satisfied." And you responded with "Hey man, I appreciate you." That response let me know everything about who you were as a fellow man. I have since made that my own response to people when they acknowledge things I have offered. So, as I responded to you in previous vids, "keep it up cuzzy!"
Thank you Aaron your honesty is refreshing. And I respect the journey y'all are on and manner you conduct yourself along the way. Also best wishes on your upcoming Wedding. I pray daily cause that is who I am and my prayer for y'all is a safe and happy marriage. Please excuse some of my strange questions. I am just curious by nature and appreciate the work you do in the ocean. I dreamed as a kid to be a Marine Biologist. I ended up following my father in the military and then being a mailman. The reason I say this is your videos sparked that dream and it is never to late to follow ones passion. You show this so well in your videos.
I worked as a mate for 4 months on a charter boat. Soon found out it is anything but a glamorous lifestyle. Started to feel like groundhogs day after just a couple months, so i kinda know where you're coming from. Bonefish/tarpon episode would be awesome!!!!
I did it too on a private charter boat out of boca grande… within 3 months I was over it… and I lOVE FISHING… but the pain and expectations of the work every day before the sun comes up and after it goes down is just TOOOO MUCH unless your the captain making all the money.
Aloha. I volunteered as a deckhand in Hawaii, and as a freshwater guide in Alaska. Trying to get sea time to become a captain. Lost my passion for fishing, and a disdain for people. Took me years to rediscover my love for fishing, not so much for people.
I don’t know the specifics on your shoulder issue, but look into dead hangs. I started them several months ago due to chronic pain and it solved it. No more pain.
You have balanced life very well, don't think work really was ever an issue with your life,it was all right where you wanted it to be,and you did a dam good job with it my friend, you fulfilled a dream, one of which lots of us have. wanted to fill,AND YOU DID IT AARON YOUNG YOU, DID IT !!!!!! DONT FORGET THE PAST.
Always super interesting !! I predict this channel will continue to grow and grow because everything is great about it. Your vid capturing, editing and how you just keep it real. We are all looking for "keeping it real" nowadays with so much BS being flung at us all day, everyday just to get clicks. Thank you !!
Thank you for sharing this on YT. I do not have any SM. I really like the content you put out. I am born and raised in the AZ desert. I don't see the ocean. You put a great perspective on it.
When I first saw your announcement of stopping charters, I was pretty bummed for me I won't have the opportunity to do a charter with you (total n00b, gotta get solid basics first). But. I saw it coming, so it wasn't a surprise. I'm really happy for you (and Madeleine) to follow your gut and make those tough decisions, I know it doesn't come easy. During my life time, I've passed up numerous opportunities involving turning a passion into a career and 100% have no regrets about it. I can def empathize with the dilemma! Either way, you've been a major influence in my future waterwoman & spearfishing endeavors and I thank you sincerely for it. I'm in Vero Beach and found a knowledgeable spearfisherman at a local shop who is helping me get into my first speargun (I wish I could handle a banana gun, but we've decided a fatback will be a good starter for my needs). One of these days, I hope to bump into you on the water or elsewhere 👋🏼 Either way, I hope you keep sharing your spearo vids! Congrats to you both on your upcoming wedding! Cheers
Any time you wish to Visit Wisconsin for Fresh water spearing, let me or my buddy Derek know! Really looking forward to December’s charter and we are honored to have been given the opportunity to do so. Thank you again for all your videos! Cheers James
Hello Aaron congrats on your upcoming marriage Madeline seems like a great gal. I've been watching you several years. First time I've committed.i have lived in the lower Keys on and off 50 yrs. Wouldn't live here without a boat, without being able to harvest fresh Sea food. I'm starting to ramble, just felt like saying hello and telling you I enjoy your content. Living the dream!!
You’re making a great decision quitting before it becomes just a job ! I hope it’s not already too late ! I made fishing my job and I can still remember the day the magic died for me. I still fish recreoccasionally for fun but a couple of hours and I’m done :(. I got out completely. Ironically you may have shown me a way back into fishing. The idea of spear fishing has captured my imagination. I’m originally from Key West and I’m heading down soon to visit family. I have bought a gun and swim gear and going to give it a try. Good luck and thanks !

I have been watching you since 10k subs It is not a surprise to me that you dont want to take charters. Your still fishing those charters are on your boat capt You set the terms
I would love to see you travel more and do some how to guides in different places and environments.. would love to see a Pamlico sound and OBX spear fishing tutorial here in NC!
Aaron - maybe you've done a video on it before but if not, would you do a video on Top 10 , or Top 5 best tasting fish? Hogs, Wahoo, Cobia, Trigger - I am sure would make the list, yeah?
That was really cool of you, Mr Almost Married Roots Centered Aaron Sir... lol 🐟Cool breezes and keep up the phtography grinding, please. Its hard to keep up with equipment data but Id like to know stuff such as how you move or aproach live nature, different fins, camera weight? :))
This was sooooo cool, live-stream on RU-vid and you could do this off the live chat! P.S. your doing something right, like I commented before I had your KWWM shirt on this past winter and had comments when I was in KW and Islamorada & Marathon.
Just found your channel and enjoy them immensely. You do a great job with your videos; very informative and edited perfectly. Headed to the Keys and wonder what you do for flushing your motor. In one of your videos you show washing down the boat, spraying down the motor (raised out of the water). Do you ever flush with water or even something like Salt Away? Salt Away always makes me cringe when I see it go in the water (other FL locations) even though it supposedly biodegradable. I have a new motor and mainly freshwater boat.
you can spearfish in freshwater in california. The regulations are weird and they really intend that you take carp but I know it is very popular over there
I was a fisherman not a diver so really injoy your edgicational vedios about diving and the free diving life style in the Keys. I started in Miami Beach on a drift boat as a 2nd mate at 14 by 16 I was a chater boat mate and did well but I burned out at 18 and dropped out to try other things in life. At 22 AND STILL SINGLE I wanted to fish again I did some charter fishing as a mate got my 100 ton and at 23. The stars aligned and I then got my dream private boat captains job, new boat top pay and a unlimited budget a total 1st class bill fishing operation in the 1980's. First trip was a bahamas which I thought was 2 weeks and turned into a 2 year bahamas tour fishing a average of 5 days a week when I was not runing the boat to the next island for the next adventure. Then after a quick yard trip it was off to a 6 month full tour of the hole Gulf Coast from Key West to Texas fishing 3 to 5 days a week and all the major tournaments in the Gulf that season. Then back to Miami and the boat yard and then some bahamas and keys trips. We then went to Cozumel Mexico for a 3 months of insane sail fishing in the 1980's. The boat was sold and I went to another private boat it was alot of 2 week bahama trips and then a island hoping trip to Venezuela in the 1980's to more insane bill fishing. I was single and completely burnt out toasted by 27. I landed up quitting the boat and fishing life and never returned again. I am 💯 with your decision-making to stop chartering and get married. Being a full time captain sound like a dream job and it can be when your young and single but it can be a very hard thing on your mind, body and marriage as you get older. The best of luck in the future to you both in what ever you guys do.
Hi Aaron, I know that you have a lot of subscribers and it's hard to respond to every comment and you have made it clear that you won't be responding to every comment anymore but will answer questions but I have got to say that it makes me because I can't say for everyone that were just not important. You could at least like the comment. I have been watching you for a while now and you have never once responded to my comments. You have no idea how much respect I have for you and how much I love your videos and what you do. I only know about Will because of you and I love his channel. But I have to say I'm glad he's not as big as you because he responds to all my comments. You have no idea how badly I would love to meet the 3 of you. Keep doing what you're doing and don't listen to the negative people. You know you care about the ocean and its locals 😊 and you respect the life there more than most. ❤😊
if you've been watching for a while I'm sure I've responded to you, I just recently stopped responding to comments as it's gotten unhealthy, I spent on average 2-3 hours a day trying to keep up with them. it really adds up and takes time that I could be spending with my fiancé. really appreciate the love and support and thanks for tuning in!
Aaron, I'm so sorry for talking to you like that. You didn't deserve it and that's definitely not who I am. I know you're extremely busy and I want you to have more time with Madeline.
Michigan allows spearing of walleye in the Great Lakes. This is the first year of it. Always allowed spearing carp and suckers but very few did it. Great lakes can get cold the deeper that you get in summer. So beware of freshwater sharks too.....lmao
Aaron, I have some experience saltwater fishing, mostly inshore bay fishing, we had lots of cases of Flesh eating bacteria, which the older community with lowered immunity are at higher risk - any cases in the lower Florida Gulf Coast or keys ? Love your setup, your skills. Possible move...
I don't find surprising that you're a RU-vidr and also an introvert that's quite common. What I find more remarkable is that you've been a fishing charter boat captain and are an introvert, those two seem like they would conflict more to me.
So tell me. What happens when you shoot a big black in a hole and your arm is in the hole so many time like I’ve seen you do to get him out and he wraps the string around your hand and you can’t back out of it? That scares me to death for you brother. Like example in that shallow water you were probably diving alone and the gun was above the rock and the string and grouper is in the rock now along with your hand and what happens if you get tangled down in that tight spot and there’s no room for cutting?
None of your shows her about commercial or about chartering. Anyway, it’s about your personal experiences as long as I’ve been watching so I don’t even know what this is about. I enjoy watching your show.
