KFC Jamaica - Was this worth the hype? 

KFC got rid of wedges years ago in the US. they were amazing and way better then boring fries

They need to bring back the grilled chicken, hot & barbecue wings, and potato wedges here in the US too..

For the chicken you should have definitely tried the spicy and the bbq… it hits different.

Anyone old enough to remember Kentucky Fried Chicken in the 80s, before it became KFC, knows how good it used to be in the States. I remember as a small kid, my parents taking me back in the day. Once it became KFC in the late 80s, their chicken and sides quality all went downhill. The mashed potatoes used to be fire pre-KFC too. Even the early KFC potato wedges from the 90s fell off. They think switching their name back to Kentucky Fried Chicken recently with the same lower quality food is doing something. 🤦🏾‍♂️ That OG Kentucky Fried Chicken was crispy, well seasoned skin. Now the skin is soggy and not as well seasoned. Wendy’s used to be straight fire before the late 80s too. The beef patties looked like real ground beef squares, not these prepackaged squares made out of God knows what. Wendy’s was fire back in the day, plus the burgers were bigger too.

Yooo, I was HOPING you'd try KFC while in Jamaica! And yes the spicy chicken is DEFINITELY the way to go, that's where you undoubtedly taste the difference! That's the jawn where they use their signature Jamaican seasoning! And although i waited 30+ minutes for my food it was undoubtedly worth it! BTW this is coming from a person who hasn't eaten KFC in the States for 15+ years since it tastes so average. But when I tell you that the KFC in Montego Bay was the BEST meal I had while in Jamaica! I ain't even lying!

I’m half Jamaican. First time I touched down in Jamaica (sadly for an aunt’s funeral), my cousin suggested KFC. I was like the guy with the tie? I don’t know where my cousin went but two hours later she came back. KFC hasn’t been the same since.

JL there's no way you can go to kfc and get all original chicken. Man, the bbq and spicy hits different. You need to go back try those. Big mistake for not ordering spicy and bbq. I love the fact you are taking the content outside of the USA 🇺🇸. Big up!

Definitely get the bbq chicken but it’s 1000 times better than any other KFC in the untied States plus the fact that you can get Champagne kola on tap is a big plus to me.

I feel like most ‘fast food’ places abroad tend to be better than what we have here in the states because of better regulations related to food than what we have.

I’m thinking the coleslaw was better because they don’t put as many chemicals as they do in American food. You know American food is banned in many countries.. So, the chicken was probably better, from that aspect. Other countries don’t do their citizens like America does. #ReadTheLabels

Jamaican KFC is the best KFC I've ever had. It just hits differently than US KFC. When I first tried Jamaican KFC, it tasted just as if Colonel Sanders cooked the chicken himself. I was thoroughly impressed 👏

KFC in St.Kitts is Great as well.. is the next best thing.. if not better.. it’s always part of the conversation when talking about regional KFC’s.. couple items got discontinued such as wedges, milkshakes etc … but they still have year round bbq and popcorn chicken etc..

They have 3 types of chicken and you got a bucket of only one kind can you really rate it

1/2 cup Hellman's mayo..APPLE CIDER VINEGAR (a few capfuls at first)...1-2 tablespoons sugar..pepper ( optional) mix together...pour over and mix into cabbage...put in fridge..let it marinate....take out ..stir..taste....add what YOU think it needs extra of.. 6:20

It looks like the KFC when it was still called it Colonel Sanders and had a real deep fried batter on it. When I was in Jamaica the island food was way to good to be eating KFC.

In the early 2000s the US had the Triple Crunch Zinger sandwich. It had 3 strips and the Zinger sauce. It was my favorite item and they discontinued the sauce (up here at least). That and the original sweet and sour being switched killed KFC for me. It was never the same.

Its kind of cool you just posted this video because my dad just came back from his trip to Jamaica yesterday and he was just telling me how he tried the kfc in Jamaica and it tasted 100 times better than the kfc here in the states😆...he said the chicken taste like real chicken farm raised not like our antibiotic/hormone filled chicken 😅😅

BBQ and Spicy are the way. Jamaica had those BBQ wings that were the bomb. The original chicken is the same almost everywhere. Also, Trinidad! Go there!

How'd you go to KFC in Jamaica, and just order original chicken!?!? The Spicy and Barbeque chicken varieties they have is totally different and unique and SO GOOD. The original is good, but it's basically the same everywhere u go As someone from the Caribbean, and had Jamaican KFC a lot, JL got me vex for this one

The chicken looks better prepared, the chicken look juicy and the thigh actually look like a thigh. KFC stopped making the wedges a while ago.

Popeyes in Jamaica just hits differently. You can eat the damn bones too. That's how well it's cooked.

When I went to visit my family in Jamaica I tried KFC there and it was surprisingly better

You guys should have gotten a mixed bucket with spicy, bbq and original to get a true taste of everything. That would have made for a more balanced review.

Well done bro ..visiting the islands doing your thing...keep it up...but for real Trinidad kfc has a spicy chicken that is especially for our culture not overbearing but it's like no other really worth they hype

At the end of the day it's still a fast food chain. There will be differences depending on where they get the meat from, who is cooking etc.

I was surprised u flew to Jamaica just to sample kfc… everyone said it was good but not sure if worth the flight unless u were there for something else.. since u are there u really shud try the authentic jerk chicken and jerk pork in Portland

I went on a cruise. We stopped in Ocho Rios and we’re hungry. I saw a KFC and the bell went off. I remember my coworker always hyping up KFC in Jamaica. My party was like “why you come all the way to Jamaica to eat some KFC?”. I was like I heard it’s much better. It was noticeably better and fresher, but not the hype my coworker told me. It definitely wasn’t worth that long azz wait in my opinion, but I got the experience 🤦🏾‍♂️. I think because I went to a small KFC in Grand Cayman with no line and the chicken tasted about the same as Jamaica at the previous cruise stop, it was kinda of a let down. I’ll have try Trinidad, if I ever get there. This Ocho Rios KFC was straight packed Friday afternoon. Maybe places like Kingston or Montego Bay may be more have even better KFC 🤷🏾‍♂️. It was just as expensive as the NYC KFC’s I go to. Yet it was packed with locals and school kids. I thought “locals aren’t as broke as US media makes them out to be” to be spending what amounts to $9-10US on lunch. That joint was packed, that’s why it took so long for us to get our food. I ain’t never spend 40 mins in a KFC in the US, to order and get my food.

KFC in Jamaica is a big deal. Especially on a Friday night. Parking lot fully packed. Music blasting. It's a vibe . I see JL international now. But also go to one of the street vendors while you are there

I've been at that same KFC a couple times while on vacation in Jamaica. I taste no difference in the chicken then in the US. And also they got rid of potato wedges at all KFC's about 3 years ago. Chef😂

the real question is: who be eating KFC fried chicken stateside these days? I feel like for the majority of us (in major-ish cities), we all have the options of 1) popeyes or 2) jollibees and 3) mom n pop fried chicken shops who all three absolutely DUMP on KFC's fried chicken. KFC lost its luster in the fried chicken game probably about 15-20 years ago stateside just my two cents.
