Fantastic idea , however in future versions I would have AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS or better future AMD APU . With this powerful APU I could also play games at 1080p without Mind Graphics also when I'm in travel with the Khadas Mind in Laptop mode . And I could consider Mind Graphic only to play games at 2k or 4k.
Thank you for your valuable suggestions. We greatly appreciate your input, and we will certainly take into consideration the popular AMD solution for Khadas Mind in our future development plans.
About the Mind X Play, I am curious if you will have different sizes or just one. Also, it would be nice to be able to use the GPU with it but it looks like it would be physically impossible at the moment. I don't see the mindxplay option when donating.
I would like to see Khadas moving towards the risc v architecture to keep up with the company's innovations and also striving to lower the cost of products. I am interested in reselling Khadas in Brazil.
Hey khadas! Look I am just a random guy for you guys… but I am really impressed about this! I am in the pc world for a long long time. I have one thing, I really want to buy this but. If you guys can make an huge upgrade model for about 1300-1500 dollar/euro that has a higher grade cpu that can run games and a lot more… like an i9 or something in that range. I would buy the product 100% if you guys also keep bringing like more and more of the extra “accessoires/ products” I really think you guys can make this super big, so if you bring more higher end stuff to, then its gonne be a big win for everyone!
@@Khadas are you guys gonne make a higher end one? If so I wil buy it for sure! Also a graphics card with 12+ gig ddr6 also very nice like an rtx 4080/7800xt
had this idea every since asus padfone was introduced but sadly that (padfone) ended faster than i predict. really love how this concept is being revived and instead of a phone, its a computer now.
Huge opportunity if done right. Key is having docks with data storage options and good connectivity for work, and another Gaming / Workstation capable dock at home with at least RTX 3070Ti and 3090Ti level graphics to cover needs. So far all vendors have under-baked the graphics with RTX 3060 / 4060 or RX 7600 XT which are not good enough...
As soon as you release the xPlay I will happily switch to the Khadas ecosystem. I mean the mind V2, graphics dock, and the xPlay - the idea of having the same machine be used in a multitude of setups is what seems amazing to me. Before someone says just use a laptop... I just find this concept way more intriguing and efficient. Have to say, AMD version would be more appealing considering Intel's questionable development choices the past few years.
What did I just watch? Why have I not heard about this before? My goodness. If the external GPU there is strong enough, this would be an insane device.
Hi Martin. The Mind Graphics is almost ready and will be shipped to our backers in June. It's now open for pre-order: www.khadas.com/product-page/mind-graphics.
It would be nice to ditch proprietary dock connection in favor of the oculink/usb4 solution, because it is more pro-consumer allowing to use diy or third party equipment
The problem is that this project is based on Intel Platform. Instead I would prefer AMD, because also with the new 7xxx processor I can use Windows 10 and use older programs I need that are not well supported on win 11. With the architecture P/E core we are forced to windows 11, that is also slower than Windows 10 as Microsoft keeps adding bloatware every upgrade. If there were an option like AMD 7735 hs or 7035U series + graphic module I would be truly interested.
As a 3d artist I need a portable solution, but there is simply no manufacturer adding enough memory to their systems 32gb ram isn't enough I'd love to buy something like i7 1370p with 64 ram and a high end gpu with 16 gb vram, like radeon rx 6800xt but then the system would cost like 3k $ :P Nowadays there is no viable solution except building my own sff rig. I don't get it personally how can't a company with production volumes accomplish something competitive to a home-built pc. It is either absurdly expensive, or has lackluster performance. Until this problem is solved I don't see how portable PCs can become a popular thing.
It's cool that you guys managed to accomplish such a feat, but i have a question. How is this "always work on the same computer" any different than carrying a Live USB Stick with a Linux system on it? Sure one could argue it's more cost-effective to have a single computer and connect it to different peripherals and such, but then again, a USB Stick is more portable, and i'm guessing those various docking stations aren't gonna be cheap, either
Some advantages I can think of. First is speed. The system has a nvme ssd, which is faster than usb. The second is ease of use. You need more technical knowledge for a live usb, and you have to configure all the hosts to boot from usb.
@@PeterAuto1 yeah but then again, is this worth the additional cost? Learning to press F12 at startup to select a boot device doesn't seem like much of an issue for most. However as for speed, yeah i can see situations where USB 3.1 or even Thunderbolt speeds just won't cut it: things like gaming or using some really heavy program, but then again, if you're gaming you're probably better off with a steam deck anyways, and if you're doing some heavy duty work with windows-only software like the adobe suite... Then yeah, this could actually be the best thing to use afaik But i feel like even in this case, this is just more unnecessary complexity But this is just what i think, i might be wrong, you let me know
Would great to consider the new Ryzen AI 300 Series or Intel 185H and RTX 4070 ti with dual encoders and 64 GB ram, name it ultra or max since this replace mac ultra for windows lovers who need high performance for video editing.
Looks nice, but did something change with nvidia not allowing to sell full desktop gpus for egpu enclosures? If not then those are amd or nvidia mobile gpus?
i dont think nvidia can block users from buying full sized gpus for egpu enclosures? last i checked egpu connections are bandwidth limited by the connection. so even if you throw a 4090 inside, you wont get the full performance cause it cant pass through.
Thank you for your comment! I'm thrilled to let you know that Khadas Mind is now available on Kickstarter. You are welcome to place your order, and rest assured, we offer worldwide shipping to your country. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact crowdfunding@khadas.com
we agree that "standard" 2280 might comes more flexible for most users, also larger capacity available. During the RnD stage, our team also discuss on the decision on this, but the reason we finally just go with 2x 2230 SSD are that: 1) The Mind not able to put into a 2280 SSD, as the 2280 SSD will overlap with the area on the back of the CPU, where will be a certain amount of heat generated from the CPU. 2) Also, we trust 2230 will become more and more popular in the near future :) Thanks you for point out what your concerns, and your voice make sense for us.
Apple will do this in 5 Years. A mac mini that can be converted to mac studio or mac pro Connect external Audio Mixing Devices Connect Storage Connect ARM based Propriotry GPU Connect A Battery Connect whatever. And that will sell like hot cakes.
