Nah, she's holding onto some resentment because I think she's projecting a class issue onto the family. Her dad said he felt comfortable with him, gave his blessing without hesitation. Had anyone seen that coming, there could have been time carved out to have a conversation with her where HER concerns could have been brought to the surface, and given light in this special setting. Nobody saw it though It was a missed opportunity. In fact, the two moms should have talked. Her mom said she loved him through tears despite everything, I think he is being celebrated in their company.

Her mother dishonored him by 1)comparing him to a dog and; 2) saying he is verbally abusive to her daughter. Therefore, her mother could apologize to his mother and that may open up better communication/understanding between them.

@@walterbrown2425 I think the issue is because the bride’s family tried to make it seem like the groom is taking advantage of the bride in some way because she makes more than him and the groom’s mother was saying that he has his own and is not taking advantage of the bride. Having your own business is an accomplishment because not everyone has the wherewithal to do that. Additionally, we see more people just following along with trends and others, and being an outlier (in terms of morality, faith, character, integrity, etc.) is an accomplishment in today’s society.

I feel like that say so much about her family. I don't think she is annoying. I think because she grew up in a household where I believe she was criticized a lot, and with a stubborn mom (tad bit self absorbed), she never really learned how to communicate with conflict. She walks away too quickly.... The sister, may have to accept that the bride doesn't want a relationship with her. Whatever occurred in the past between them pushed/pushes her away. I do wish them the best though. I like the bride's dad. I think he had a revelation about why the bride keeps things away from them.

At first I was over her family, but then I see that she’s not clear with her family but then she’s seeking their blessings. I don’t think she communicates very well and she has a very childlike approach to things. She pouts and doesn’t want to deal with difficult conversations.

The therapist has it wrong on this one. The family knew they were together. They don’t want to accept him because they don’t feel like he’s good enough for their daughter. She knows how her family is and she doesn’t feel a safe place to talk about her love for her boyfriend. I don’t talk about my relationship with anyone. So I get it 😊

I wouldn't marry the bride, I think the mother is right. That soon to be bride looks like someone that runs from conflict. If she ever has a problem with his side of the family in the future, she is going to treat them the same way she treats her own family.

I truly wish more couples/families could understand the power of a pre-nup for BOTH parties. Even women or men who decide to become stay at home parents can ensure that they are protected with a pre-nup! Beyond saying "I Do" at the altar at the end of the day Marriage is a legally binding contract. A prenup is a negotiated agreement between two people with what assets they're bringing into the marriage and how assets and income acquired during the marriage will be resolved if there is a divorce. You can sit down with your soon to be spouse and be truthfully financial transparent and ensure that both parties are protected according to your terms and not what each state government already sets for everyone who doesn't write up their own prenup.

That sit down with her family tells me why she’s so secretive. She needs to keep them out her life. Boundaries Beloved. Some people are committed to misunderstanding you my love and a lot of times it’s your family. & that sister?! She’s a bully. And her insecurities with the lack of a closer relationship with her sister, are showing drastically. Then, instead of asking why there is so much distance between them, and asking how can she fix it and being open to what her sister says, she becomes even more aggressive causing the sister to retreat even more towards his family. They seem to be a safe space for her. That baby needs to stand up for herself!!!

Anytime a woman just talks about the ring when you’re talking about the proposal that means she’s only there for materialistic things of the money. I thought she was gonna say something like I was so happy I was shocked anything besides talking about her being the ring is.
