KHOU 11 Meteorologist Pat Cavlin takes a deep dive into Hurricane Milton, including its path and what's driving intensity, as the Cat. 5 storm approaches Florida.
Pat is simply brilliant! A good and effective teacher is also a great communicator. I had instructors in college who were adept at taking something simple and making it complicated. A true communicator is someone who takes something that’s complicated and makes it simple. Pat is one of the latter.
this kid is the ONLY meterologist who ever explains things to me! kudos to him - i understand more from him than anyone else in the business. Appreciate it.
I am a 70 year old Florida licensed general contractor who has lived and worked in the Ft Myers, Bonita Springs, and Naples areas for over 30 years. This detailed storm presentation from Pat Cavlin was one of the best I have ever heard.
Hey neighbor I am born and raised in Bonita Springs 40+ years and I can not agree with you more on how absolutely well Pat Calvin explains these storms, considering I have grown up watching this type of coverage my entire life. I have actually been watching his reports more than some coming right out of Florida. Simply due to how well he explains everything and how transparent he is. This man has a gift and I hope he is discovered by a large new station because he is doing more than reporting he is truly teaching, teaching those who may have never dealt with a Hurricane. My 11 son loves how he himself can learn from Pat because of how detailed and informative he is.
Truly, this young man is THE best in providing meteorological information and explaining plainly what it means for the general public. Truly outstanding 👏
The very BEST explainer, highly approachable and understands how to help us understand. Thank you Pat Cavlin! I've linked this to my relatives living in Tampa
This was one of the better presentations I have seen this week. Going from start to finish with in-depth explanations without extraneousness. He reigned in his points during his presentation while staying onpoint. And at the end he pulled it all together perfectly to guide his audience. I didn't get lost by the presenter jumping around a lot causing breaks in continuity. Lastly my mind didn't wander! Thank you!
Thank you so much for your continued coverage of this storm. I think you've given the single best explanation I've ever seen of how these systems work, and I've been trying to make sure more people see how fantastic your coverage is! You genuinely deserve awards for how clearly you explain things! No buzzwords, no shock-and-awe, you just tell us exactly what we need to know and break it down perfectly. THANK YOU!
people in his area are lucky to have such a skilled weather person as Pat Cavlin. I live in Az but subscribe to this channel to listen to Pat, I learn so much.
Thank you so much! Your explanations of the various images we see is outstanding. I have not heard anyone explain it as in depth as you and simplified. Great job! I have learned a great deal!❤
You can tell by watching this man that he is greatly passionate about this. Thank you for such a great explanation, the best forecast I've ever watched.
Finally!!!!! **Holy sh--t!!!** Thanks so much for REAL educational/reporting. There's a-lot of us out there that can crasp what your sharing. This is the real info that we need to hear, not the 'snap, crackle, pop'. Thanks for your time!
As a 40 year resident of So. Fla., I've had several good extreme weather meteorologists over the years. Some here locally, others in New Orleans, Colorado and I have to say that Pat Calvin is the goods. Just found his work recently as Hurricane Milton will affect my area. If you're looking for good reporting, advice and in depth analysis, take it from a storm old-timer, you're in the right place right here.
Pat Cavlin, you are a very good meteorologist! I’m not even from Houston but you have my attention. Thanks for helping us understand what’s happening with this hurricane. I see a very bright future for you!
10:55 THANK YOU for emphasizing that the storm surge has ZERO correlation with the "category" a storm is designated. The Saffir-Simpson scale only refers to wind speed, not how much surge to expect.
A teacher is someone who takes something simple and makes it complicated. A communicator takes something complicated and makes it simple. Pat is the later of the two.Great job!
An amazing explanation of everything involved with the hurricane in terms that everyone can understand. Thank you for that. We’re lucky to have you here in Houston.
Vamo Fl just couple miles south of Sarasota here 🤲🏼this is one of the best if not ‘The’ best forecast and explanation hands down. Many thanks and God Help
This young man isn’t just a reporter; he’s also a teacher. His ability to break down how storm really helps us understand it better. I’m grateful for that!
This might be a Houston, TX station but this young man is a great teacher and this explanation is as good as or better than I have heard anywhere in the nation. That is why I came back to see what he had to say.
I love your videos, very informative and helpful and I understand your excitement, I love science too, specially when it comes to Mother Nature’s power.
Amazing job. I love to see a deep dive on thunderstorms and tornadoes by this guy. Learn something new about hurricanes. I been watching hurricanes and tornado videos for years now. Hopefully you get raise this year.
He’s a dope weatherman I love how he breaks things down for us to understand ❤ EDIT: I look at the comments and everyone’s feeling the same way about him ❤
