@@obelus5985 The entitlement of people is sick ain't it. A nation of cry babies that cant do shite for theirself except cry and demand someone else take on their responsibilities.
Absolutely! If you pay for a service that they cannot provide, then they need to issue refunds and deposits so that customers can find a reliable source!!
Definitely a deviation from the common rule. Hurricanes Alberto and Beryl certainly exposed that Harris County \ Houston / didn't have a a team development leadership plan for Elderly Care Facilities and Hospitals.
Now, CenterPoint wants to spend 1 billion dollars on restoration with cement poles, new wires and transformers and tree trimming and removal. This should have been done 20-30 years ago like we did in Florida...God Bless...
@@SwaggerLikeUzIgnorance is bliss I guess... Centerpoint is a member of ERCOT which is a deregulated organization in Texas thanks to the Republicans government who run it. If you want accountability, ask for some from the pockets of the Republicans running the state.
When God speaks he has spoken to us all. Even if His message is through Hurricane Beryln. Centerpoint, the linemen, whatever conduits his message comes, let's pray instead of complaining. Center point, The Mayor, The Governor, The Attorney General cannot over rule the Power of God Almighty. This heat cannot be compared with Hells fire, where there will be no escape or relief. Let us pray more, and complain less. Let's look around and be thankful and grateful for all the blessings we have.🙏
I’m moving, that’s how I’m preventing it. This will be my last hurricane season after living in Houston for 24 years. Houstonians are beautiful people! Will miss them!
This is what happens when billions are invested in Ukraine, Israel, foreign aid, illegals etc. Nothing for US infrastructure, nor anything for American citizens.
They knew a day in advance dumbass. The hurricane kept changing trajectory and wasn't known to be anywhere near or even touching Houston until the Saturday night before.
Word from the out of state linemen is Centerpoint won't assign them work until pay is negotiated. Centerpoint expects them to pay for their own motels and food, and work for next to nothing.
Nothing changed after Harvey. We get a really minor hurricane, and everyone in the city loses power. CenterPoint is taken by surprise; they learned nothing from Harvey.
HARVEY??? BRO!!! Harvey was about the flooding. THEY DID NOTHING ABOUT THE FLOODING EITHER. Beryl MISSED HOUSTON. Beryl went over my city 100 miles from houston.
Not to mention half of former Democrat Mayor Sylvester Turner’s City Council are indicted for misappropriating millions earmarked for infrastructure, bribery, fired for sweeping 2000 crime assaults under the rug, kickbacks etc.
Remember Enron? Remember how they laughed at the people suffering blackouts they created and were raking in millions in profit from it? Pepridge Farm and I remember and we know that all people in the public utility business aren't saints. End the Centerpoint Monopoly!
Sounds like a class action lawsuit. Jsy storms have bombarded Houston before. The amount of incompetence to have preparations for it. Is purely appalling n a disgrace.
I gotta say, it looked like the lady was throwing out Starkist tuna pouches. I recognize those because I buy them for lunch sometimes. They are fine and dont need to be refrigerated. I keep them in the pantry.
Missed your comment before i commentrd, that's exactly what I saw. All for show and a political agenda or this lady is so distraught because she doesn't know how to live without conveniences. Either way, people need to understand that they need to learn how to survive.
@@abbphotoandvideo622And she would be stupid enough to do that for the news. Maybe the pouch has been opened and was in fridge, hence she threw it out. No longer tightly sealed to stay fresh.
They want to act like centerpount has a wall of linemen waiting during a hurricane for any tree that snaps and breaks a line and fix within 5 minutes. Like these expectations are completely unrealistic
Yes, that’s exactly what centerpoint was supposed to do, which is the problem. Not 5 minutes, but yes, thousands of linemen were supposed to be in Houston ready to restore power after the storm cleared. Centerpoint screwed up big time, class action lawsuits coming in 100%
There should be some investigation of CenterPoint's preparedness and response once everyone's power has been restored. And CenterPoint's communications have been abysmally poor. But I wonder if that unfortunate woman has ever considered looking in the mirror when she says at 2:58 "You know hurricane season, you know how Houston is on hurricane season. Make arrangements." Is it purely CenterPoint's accountability to make arrangements for hurricane season, or does she have some accountability for her own arrangements as well?
Look some of us, live paycheck and peach we barely pay rent and car insurance. Trust me I’ve been wanting to buy power banks the big ones, but between Hard
That's what I've been saying to people since Monday. It's not all on Centerpoint. The citizens have to be prepared as well. Shoot you don't even have to go as far back as Harvey to remember when we would prep as soon as a hurricane was projected to hit us which was typically 2 weeks in advance.
@@mateoleon524If you are living paycheck to paycheck then you need to cut back spending on something. Get rid of cable get RU-vidTV. You don't need a new phone every year or every half a year. Going out is fun but only do maybe 2 big outings a year. It's not Centerpoints fault that you choose to live the way you do.
@KRIAJK you act as if we are not paying 200+ electric bills. It is Centerpointe responsibility to get power back asap, because we are paying these high electricity bills.
To be fair, the City of Houston shares a lot of blame too. Houston doesn't maintain their trees very well and they don't trim them or remove dead/dying trees. The city of Houston is equally responsible for this
It’s centerpoints responsibility to keep vegetation around power lines trimmed. Especially before a storm. They only spend $10 per customer per YEAR on trimming trees. Yet the ceo makes $38 million a year.
@@JStep-tl8zx Yeah but what the city has been doing is planting thousands of new trees on city property (which I support) but they need to be maintained. If the city is unable to maintain them then they shouldn't be planted in the first place.
@5:31 Shit! Did I miss something or is he running those gas powered generators inside his garage??? Even the appearance of running fuel powered generators inside a dwelling should not be given KHOU11!!!!
So how did people live in Houston 100 years ago without AC? Is it global warming or are we just a bunch of whiners? From what I’ve seen, these power workers have been busting their asses.
Both. Temperatures are definitely higher but we are also cry babies accustomed to all day AC Other developed countries experience similar heat & don’t even have AC in their homes at all
There's a tree on the primary lines at the corner of Wantonga and 43rd. 5 days after the storm. Also I have a primary line and the cutout in my hands I fould in my backyard. Where is the power companies it's costing 30 dollars a day to keep our generator going.🤬
They have cooling rooms with toys for kids if you feeling wrecked. You need to vote these MFers out, or it will happen again. And do something about the flooding while you are at it.
5 days not even a restoration date? Patience!!!!! We've been patient now time to hold the governor, Lt governor, county judge and the mayor for no planning. Centerpoint needs to be abolished texas needs to get on a national grid.
I think some blame has to go on homeowners who allow their trees to grow unmanageably tall and they don't trim them properly to withstand strong winds. They also allow their trees to grow through around and above power lines. That is utterly ridiculous and irresponsible. Centerpoint has to contend with downed trees BEFORE they can make repairs. I don't work for Centerpoint and I don't know anyone who does. I see these problems in my own subdivision and in all the neighborhoods I drive through. It's such an obvious problem.
@@mike_w-tw6jd They are responsible only for the portion not on the property owner's property. The property owner is still responsible for their side. But that is only regarding trees entangled with power lines (usually along back of property line). Other massively tall trees on the property owner's property that are also not regularly trimmed to better withstand high winds then fall over and topple power lines. Yes, Centerpoint has their responsibility to trim trees entangled in power lines and they may have dropped that ball in a lot of instances but why is the property owner allowed to plant trees under and alongside power lines? And why is the property owner allowed to grow trees that are oversized and not regularly maintained to withstand high winds and heavy rain? BTW I am a property owner and I have no trees on my property but I regularly maintain my side of my two neighbors' three trees. There are no power lines nearby but there is my house which I want to protect.
"Trust us to fix our problem......also trust us to not bill you even though we are going to anyways, and maybe, MAYBE fix that at a later date of our convenience."
I helped a family with no power for 4 days. They finally found a hotel tonight. Centerpoint should have been prepared after that derecho that happened! I saw pictures of trucks delivering transformers. Why didn't they have that in stock!
Surrounding states should be sending people to help this is ridiculous what's going on people need to lose their jobs over this and I'm not talking about the people at the bottom
What was CenterPoint Energy's response time prior to this Beryl storm danger? 5:08 Customer accounts are being charged as if they are still online Company says it's Estimated usage: but expected history and billing to be updated.
After Ike, we had no power for 2 and 1/2 weeks. We need to spend the money and fix the whole grid. Tax us all at $10.00 per bill to start getting things ready.
They have still not categorized this as a devastating catastrophe, so FEMA will not release funds until it is labeled by those who are not commenting, *(state officials, legislators, etc.) .
Local government needs to be held accountable too. No one is talking about that lack of maintenance around the Houston area towards the trees and vines growing on and around the lines. Pure negligence all around
Centerpoint has yet again let down Houstonians, they area joke with their "active" map...anyone who doesn't plan ahead ...and Centerpoint didn't think that hurricane was heading to Houston...WTH
You’ll need to look at who is doing the tree clearing , is it being put on emergency responders like during hurricane Ike ,a huge influx of out of town companies were given work on these major tree downings . Is Centerpoint bringing that work in-house for profit ? Slowing restoration of power ?
Great -- you got her name, location, shots of the inside and outside of her house, and then tell everyone she's going to be staying at her daughter's. Nice way to protect people.
Did center point tell ypu they are not paying the linemen and that work is on hold until they negotiate price, your right they are quick to point to the numbers!
Next hurricane we get I’m going on vacation a week before it happens. It took us three days to get power back, but they’re are others still without power!! I understand three days of power but anything longer is ridiculous!!
Still with no power, my Chow is really upset too. Not even any major damage neither, or downed lines. I just don’t understand. Everyone around us but our street has power.
Center wasn't ready that's true. But i blamed the city for not removing trees with time. Also some homeowners should be to blame too their own trees in are in the middle of the road and taking light poles down.
So u telling me he’s saying the hardest don’t have power because of trees but literally one street over has power and literally the gas station 10 seconds away from my door has power but u saying all of this I don’t buy it
Blame the state of Texas GOP leadership for allowing these companies to avoid regulations to save money that other states don't seem to have issues with.
@tx_7134 But Western New York is on a national grid and I believe they may also have some connection to the Canadian Power Grid in emergency situations. Especially with Niagara nearby.
Change regulations about allowing trees to grow over. Out of state, it is a law to cut trees that grow around poles and wires. Residents and businesses usually get letters if they let this happen.
@@petershaver5006lol tell us more that you know nothing about what you are talking about. The fatality rates in the 60's were 10 times more. Your convenience isn't worth the price of someone's life.
you know reporting is? why not get out google maps, look for someone with solar close by. and go interview them, why? because they are too busy being the electric company PR reps,
@@marlboroman71818 I can't give you a link because it'll get deleted but I can give you the name of the article regarding who is squarely to blame. "DOE rejected Houston grid improvement a year before Beryl blackout" E&E News by POLITICO. Guess who? Brandon
My thoughts for those living in Houston , ask your local leaders to make aware cooling centers for elderly people , they need Help before all , second help each other with limbs and debree , leave the major tree downing to tree services . For your own home have prepared a box fan for each main room and one small window ac unit you can use for the center of the home . One 3500 generator will qualify for emergency usage to keep a fridge , a 5000 btu ac window unit and a few other devices ..The gulf coast is at our back door , it will always destruct lives .
The power company did NOT send the hurricane there are only so many repair trucks and instead of complaining you should be Thanking God you are still alive I saw some of the posts and I saw some of the news reports some people think they should be given money or electric credits or a check for their food going bad next time be smart enough to pick dry foods to store but dam man give the power companies a break
There are people STILL without power. At least two of my coworkers are still living in their cars so they have a/c and their phones. Centerpoint is, by far, the worst electric service in the country. It should've ALL been fixed by now. Not a single excuse will make me be okay with how terrible you guys are at repairing things. They don't even assess the most damaged areas to fix first, they just go wherever they want instead of prioritizing literally anything. They need to be shut down completely in all of Houston and need to bring in a company that can actually do their job.
Give me a break! What ever happened to the toughness and fortitude of americans! We were pioneers and now we are just weaklings!! That woman is doing a great job making it work, for herself and animals but the media wants us to be needy. Geez.
