@@lpy1102if khris changed teams in the offseason, i can guarantee you that he would be much much MUCH more exact about the mistakes and reasons why they lost. Imo its a lesson for jj here, that its not realistic to bring on number 2 guy on a team that just FAILED their expectations and expect that guy to go in detail of what exactly went wrong... He even said "we studied it, we watched it, we learned from it" which means they probably had a team film session and coaches told then who effed up on each critical possesion, but khris wont just throw his team under the bus - which is very logical to me. Its like if you invited steph and expect him to talk in detail of klays mistakes
It’s apparent to everyone that watched the series that the lack of adjustments were a major factor, Khris wont say that especially because of what coach bud was going through. As a bucks fan myself I don’t hold anything against bud I can only imagine losing someone that close to me and trying to focus on coaching in the nba playoffs. It’s one of those things that’s bigger than basketball. Coach bud will always be remembered in Milwaukee, this year was just a combination of really unfortunate timing and the heat playing great basketball
I really don't think people are talking about that nearly enough, yea it was a collapse, but their head coach was not in a mental space to go and no one should blame him. Giannis being hurt just made it look even worse
@@chocothunder387 his footwork is a skill his playmaking is a skill his defensive timing is a skill, he’s improved as an all around player every year he didn’t just put on 50 pounds of muscle and magically become a great player. Second of all have we just forgotten that shaq existed if you’re able to physically dominate why would you make things harder on yourself and your team. Also he’s one of 6 active players to be the best player on a championship team team he doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone. What I will critique is his freethrow shooting, that’s one thing he hasn’t improved on and he needs to get better at, and it may be more of a mental thing, in the close out finals game he shot 17-19 from the line and then this year closed out the series by shooting 10-23. I can fully concede that Giannis let his team down by being awful from the line in that game, and in that same game he had 38 and 20. He doesn’t need to change the way he plays or move away from the paint to please fans, but he can improve on his shooting ability especially from the line. That is one skill that he lacks consistently. There’s only 1 player in the word better than giannis and Giannis don’t need to play like jokic to be successful they both dominate the game in different ways
I think if you look at many of the Bucks playoff series as a whole there were often adjustment issues going back to the Toronto series, and both Miami series there were issues. I also think Bud’s firing had more to with the combination of series where they seemed like collapses. I think the Bucks organization saw that and realized it wasn’t going to change. I really thought he would’ve gotten the last year though.
As a heat fan I don't like the bucks Middleton goes off against us with his shot making and I get mad at him watching him do that to my team. Shout out to Middleton for giving us our credit saying we were the better team in that series and not saying we got lucky or it was a fluke much respect
@Aerolian word? I mean the bubble makes a little sense. Anyone who does under any other circumstances are petty. I Don't like tatum and giannis anyway.
If you watch the entire interview, in the beginning, JJ said this was Middletons first ever podcast interview. 2) Kris is not good at interviews. He's basically quiet and unassuming. 3) a lot has happened in khris life the last year. Several surgeries , as well as his father unexpectedly passed away . His 5 year head coach fired . So forgive him if he doesn't remember all the details to make a lot of Internet junkies happy. I've coach young black men that are not good at talking , and talking to the media . Everybody can't be Stephan a. Smith. But I know this , Kris Middleton is a classy person that minds his business . Not like Kevin Porter Jr. Strangling women. I'm glad he's on the bucks and he's a world champion and a 3 time all-star . Selected by the coaches .
Yes but then you now have brook lopez guarding pick & rolls instead of being the help side defender. While obviously you’d prefer Giannis in help, Brook is a + defender in help and a liability on ball against 80% of the leagues Not saying you’re right or wrong but there’s pros and cons to every gameplan. I’m sure they just didn’t think Jimmy was good enough to basically avg 40 on the best perimeter defender in the L
Maybe, but Giannis worked on Jimmy so well the first time in 2021 largely because he gave Jimmy a ton of space on the perimeter and dared him to shoot the 3, then took away his drives to the rim because of this. Jimmy shot 44% from 3 against the Bucks in 2023, so it's a different story.
@@deez9805Or they thought it was gonna be like what happened against the nets with KD. They probably thought they could let Jimmy do his thing and try to beat them on his own and he never wore down and the bucks weren’t their best.
Search "heat rockets 2023 lob" Heat ran the exact same play with Gabe lobbing it to Jimmy to win the game with .7 seconds left. Jimmy also jumped so high he hit his shoulder on the backboard and his hand was at the top of the box.
Giannis is not a good on ball defender. Much better in helpside...2021 he locked up Jimmy partly because the Heat were fatigued from the short offseason after the bubble
5:47 - That decision cost coach Bud his job and the Bucks that series. Whatever Jrue is saying and his reputation. If he's getting torched and not getting the job done you have to try something else and change the game plan. Jrue is an all time great... nothing to take away from him it was just a bad matchup. Butler too tall and too on fire.
Couldn’t agree more. Especially in those final few games, I was begging for a switch, or a double, or anything other than what Butler made a clear mismatch the whole series
@@chill1224. no no, I mean we have multiple rings in response to the first guy. You can’t be new kid on the block about winning and try and big bro Heat fans. We BEEN UP.
Marion Beauchamp and Andre Jackson Jr are going to be big for them giving them depth at the wing also I believe Beasley is going to like Wes Mathews with shooting but not at good as a individual defender . I also like Grayson Allen to have another very solid year and a full year of Jrue Kris Brook and Giannis .
Giannis gets injured, Coaches loss of family, not expecting them to take a lead like that…. This was just bad and it’s something that will fuel for revenge
*No Herro *No Oladipo *Heat played 2 play-in games *8th seed *Bucks blowout Heat without Giannis in game 2( media clown the Heat that time) *JIMMY BUTLER dropping 56 on Bucks while having 3 all-nba defense on their starting line up
@@adamstewart247 😂 Kyle and Kevin do though… so there’s that. Spo has more than Giannis… Pat Riley has more than the entire Bucks organization.. see how silly this can get?
I don't wanna hear the "Giannis was hurt" thing, every game he played, they were down and lost, one game Bucks won was withOUT Giannis. Props to JJ, thought he would shy away from asking this, because he is a GianniSexual, good to see him actually try and be objective for once.
Appreciate Khris being about this subject. Jimmy was such a monster that series. Check the full interview for more: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UqAWk8bwjhs.html
Khris still has PTSD 🤣. Let that man move on with his life ,its a new season coming up. JJ trying to make him relive Jimmy transforming into Michael Jordan and dropping 50 plus on the Bucks.
Aside from lack of adjusment by coach bud, jrue forgot to make a shot, and jimmy caught fire until the ecf...and he was missing shots when he faced denver
I don’t think anyone was stopping jimmy that series. I remember jimmy driving into the paint and getting past Giannis and Lopez for an and 1 and thinking, yeah this shits over 💀jimmy was torching from the three too
everyone here blaming coach bud and not that im saying he did a good job (he made no adjustments), but acting like hes 100% at fault when giannis was absolutely abysmal at fts that also costed the game. While I feel like the coach was a part of the reason they lost, they’ve become too much of a scapegoat for teams when they lose.
Bud lost that series he did not make any adjustments 1. Bucks were the bigger team, only big heat had Bam. How u not adjust to pound the paint? 2. So many times I saw Gabe on lopez in the paint. Y not go thru him when i see such a mismatch? Etc such a horrible gameplan
That’s just bad coaching he’s a great defender but clearly he wasn’t tall enough to guard jimmy you gotta put Freak on him or you gotta double also with that deep drop ya’ll were giving him the middy which is the shot he wanted at some point you gotta say hey this isn’t working let’s try something different
as a bucks fan i literally hate jimmy butler, i don’t care how likeable he is he disrespected jrue holiday and i hate the whole heat team they would have lost if kevin love didn’t take a dangerous charge and injure giannis the bucks are still the best team in the league the heat had a lucky run and lost to denver haha they will never make it back to the playoffs without damien lillard i hope jimmy butler never plays in another playoff serires
Man thats the problem with athletes most of them dont care to win the money is too much anyway, you ll never see pippen or rodman talk like that, talk like they are just there
@@heatvshaters420ehhhh tbh that would’ve been a better matchup than the heat… Jokic and Murray was eating on them made the nuggets look like they was playing a make a wish team i feel brook lopez would have “contained” Jokic better than Bam
Okay and the heat might have matched up with the warriors better than the celtics did in 2022, but they didn't make it, so that argument is invalid. I'll never understand people who make the hypothetical "what if" arguments. It's not even like the Bucks were close to making the finals@@Averagedre
@@heatvshaters420 it wasn’t a what if its a fact bud the heat have never had size and you expect them to matchup well against the best big man in the league? thats why the bucks would’ve been a better matchup they have better size
you coach is just average. good coach would react and double-team jimmy. but you coach just did not want to hurt jrue's feelings. popovic would react, spoelstra would react. malone would react. but these coaches got balls
That push off by Jimmy on Connaughton before catching&put that ball to go extra time should have been called. There s no way that play should been allowed. Too much tiny event like that allowed them to go through.
NBA reviewed that play already. There was a miscall as there was a foul on the bucks before the pushoff, so it would have been free throws for Miami either way
