Alcohol in general is super over rated. But drunk driving or even buzzed driving, is the dumbest thing you can ever do. The amount of lives it has taken is crazy.

Well the NFL promotes it just like the rest. The drunken Viking fans I see at every home game proves it. I work event security at us bank stadium and TCO and it’s a god dam free for all. Christ look at the tail gate parties that start at 6am? Not all tailgaters are bad but we turn away guests a lot because they are half in the bag. I see a lot of people who want to reinstate Prohibition, there is a reason that it failed because the moralizers on alcohol didn’t come to the realization that most people want to drink. You cannot legislate morals. Alcohol is also much more legislated than you realize, you try to ban it and all of the limits are gone instantly. There are problematic ways to use alcohol, gamble, and other vices, that doesn't mean that we should ban those vices, for the small minority who can't handle a vice well.

Situational awareness is one of the most important skills you can learn in life. A majority of accidents can be avoided or limited if you are watching your mirrors, turning your head and expecting the idiots will do the worst maneuver. People get behind the wheel and forget about the rest of the world. They will tailgate at 85 miles an hour, change lanes 100 times because they're angry and have to get home to watch tv.

This news has hit me so hard. Football is football, but I firmly believe the Vikings organization is the best culture and has the best people in the NFL I think Judd is so spot on with always having a plan before you go out. Always have a backup, and just make sure you stay safe. After one of my best friends almost died from driving drunk a while back, and another one that was my roommate died drunk driving a year later, I’ve learned that if I don’t have my car to drive home with I’ll never drive. I’m serious. I’m so fortunate to still have my best friend, and it’s a pure fluke he’s alive and I got to see him on the 4th a decade after his crash. If I go out to have fun with friends that drink, I have friends pick me up, and have a place to crash or a time to Uber back home. It only takes a few minutes to make a plan, and it only takes one fluke to end everything. I can’t even imagine how people who actually knew Khyree feel, but hopefully this accident can save many lives through awareness and somehow makes a positive impact in the world. In terms of feedback. I think you guys are doing a wonderful job, and as long as it’s organic I trust you guys to steer the ship back to football talk. The transition today back to football was clunky, but it was nice football talk sprinkled in and it felt good to listen about the Jefferson series coming up. That depth chart article upset me a lot. I unsubscribed because it simply sucked to read that article. I’m sure it wasn’t purely intentional clickbait, but I was upset they updated it to “even before the tragic accident” the Vikings still had depth questions. It’s just tone-deaf and it’s an article. Maybe throw it into the back burner yeah?! Thank you guys. I’m kind of shocked that this upended me so hard, but listening to you guys talk about your perspectives has helped me process it way better than just shoving all of the emotions to the back of my head and keep trucking along.

Judd youre right on target. As a 52 yr old, I had 3 DWIs in my 20s. That was the exact thought process. Young, felt invincible, and to be honest for me back then, the penalty wasn't that bad. My 1st one was $100 fine and lost my license for 90 days...when I hit 30 and "grew up" I took life more serious and haven't even had a parking ticket. When your young you're going to do what you want. That's never going to change.

Jud - fragility of life is so true - and unfortunately young people feel invincible - that nothing bad will happen to them. All too often they are wrong - Im 57 now, and I felt that way as well back in my youth. I was fortunate to grow up without incident - and changed my ways as I matured. I look back now and just shake my head at myself at how lucky I was. You try to communicate that to your children and just pray the message sticks as they head out the door to live their lives.

Fact that nobody wants to talk about police said this was high speed. Everybody wants to totally blame it on alcohol but going high speed down the highway switching lanes is just as bad and probably causes more accidents than drunk driving. Yet everyone thinks it's cool to jump in a car and drive 100 miles an hour down at interstate weaving in and out of lanes.. it is also a major problem not just drunk driving
@okstate999
@okstate999 27 дней назад
Yep. Covid helped facilitate this, and it has permanently stuck around. People going 100mph+ regularly. Cars going 90+ every time you get on the highway. People used to go 10 over, now 20+ is the norm. More people hate cops, don't care about the law, and just ignore the speed limits. Anyone on social media who calls out speeders gets attacked by a horde of them. Speeding causes more accidents and increases the severity, studies show it as well as physics. I don't understand why so many people do it. I don't have the money to burn through that much fuel all the time.

I highly recommended looking into the Noah Presgrove case in Oklahoma. Still unsolved after almost a year, it was a homicide where underage binge drinking played a significant factor. Especially in rural America, there are entire cultures centered around drinking and partying, which repeatedly causes young people to get killed. You've got entire families consisting of dozens of people whos lives revolve around getting drunk. Saying we have a problem is an understatement. If you research that case youll discover that entire extended family are all alcoholics and it has resulted in 3 deaths over the last 4 years, including a 7 year old. They've gotten to where they just accept each death, move on and go right back to the same lifestyle.

It is even a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. Jesus is Life assurance which is more vital than life insurance. God’s mercy and grace upon you all.

The NFL and individual teams have huge financial backing by all sorts of alcohol brands and they sell it to everyone who comes to a game too. This is always going to be an awkward conversation. I agree we need to normalize just making plans ahead of time. No excuses. If you rely on making a good choice once you have started drinking…well that is just not realistic and we all know it.

Has anybody read or heard any information regarding the use of seatbelts by the victims of this accident? Also, were airbags deployed? I did not see this mentioned in the police report which seems a little unusual.

This is the result of something stupid that most of us did when we were young. You want to eliminate it but it’s almost impossible. It’s almost the luck of the draw. I just hope they weren’t drag racing. In all my life, I’ve never seen a car so destroyed as that charger. It was literally as flat as a pancake. It looked like it went through a crusher at a scrapyard. They had to be traveling at a very high speed. I was really hooked on his personality. I feel bad that I won’t get to see him play. And I feel much worse for him and his family.

The only way is heavy enforcement, just like Dex said about Australia. Won't happen with our current climate though, everyone hates cops and no one wants to do that job anymore. Americans think they are entitled to drink and get in a vehicle, go 100mph+, and when something happens or they get pulled over, it's the police's fault. Law enforcement has many issues, most of which goes on behind closed doors, but we do need them to exist and out there doing their job.

Phil quickly breezing in a "we've all done it" when it comes to buzzed/drunk driving and moving on could have been the end of that whole conversation. If your baseline assumption is that you've all done it, the culture is too far gone to do anything about it. Many of us have never driven under the influence.

If you had a cop with a Breathalyzer sitting by the door of any establishment that served alcohol, 60% of the adults over 21 leaving would be over the legal limit to drive. That’s how stringent the laws are, but of those people 75% will not ever get pulled over for a DUI.

You're missing the point. You personally may have never drank and drove, but you've done other things. You've done things that were dangerous, illegal, immoral, just like everyone else on the planet. To an extent, it's a matter of luck that we are currently alive. You may have made just one mistake, but if that mistake was at the worst possible time, it would've killed you. He was acknowledging that it is wrong and should not be normalized, but at the same time he isn't looking down on other people.

Good show guys! Unfortunately, the topic is not only life changing but often leads to drastic results. I too was a witness to a drunk driver taking a human life. When I was just 10 years old, my best friend was killed riding his bicycle home after a man hit him and knocked him off his bike and threw him into a tree. He lived for 4 days but succumbed to his head injury. The culprit was a habitual offender of alcohol and sure enough years later committed the same offense again. The only way to reduce this haniius crime is to make the laws more severe. Let's face it, if you're pulled over for drunk driving, then you're lucky you didn't hurt or kill someone else at that time. You can't eliminate people, cars or alcohol but you can make the law so severely you would not risk the chance! First offense: 90 days in jail, $10,000 fine and all your paycheck for 1 year goes to the victim or cause of justice, NO exceptions! That is if nobody is harmed or injured. For worse offenses, the more severe the penalty It's absolutely senseless for Kyree to have died and any other victim of alcohol abuse, So sorry is not enough.
