A short Torah thought and Chassidic insight on the name of the Parsha - Ki Teitzei - with a practical lesson for our day to day life with Rabbi Moishe Kievman
Most of this years insights are adapted from Lekutei Sichos bit.ly/3FqRB1E. You can join us each Shabbos afternoon as we learn 2 amazing Sichas from the original text, first one right after Kiddush and the second right before Mincha. Another great resource is projectlikkute...

Behind the Name of the Parsha: Ready for War?
Ki Teitzei means when you go out to war upon your enemies...
Although the Torah is all about peace, the world was designed in such a way where we are constantly in battle. In fact the Hebrew word for bread is Lechem, which is derived from the same root as Milchama, which means war, symbolizing the constant struggle between our body and soul. Because on the one hand we don't want to be a glutton like an animal who only cares about food, on the other hand we need food to live and be able to learn Torah and do Mitzvahs...
Some times the struggle between body and soul are so great that we don't know how we can possibly overcome life's struggles..
In this case, suggests The Rebbe, we should reflect upon what the Medresh says, that before creating the world, G-d consulted with our souls. We must therefore realize that everything we perceive as a negative influence or enemy attempting to deter us from doing the right thing is in truth there to help us, enabling us to do the right thing out of free choice, rather than as robots.
And when we reflect on that Medrash, we will be enabled to wake up each day and go out to war, overcoming each and every struggle, one battle, one challenge at a time, and come out on top.
May we not just win this war, but as the verse continues, may we take captives, transforming our bodies and all our physical belongings, into vehicles of goodness and Kindness, enabling us to increase in Torah and Mitzvahs, in the best of health, filled with happiness, nachat, prosperity, success and all good things.
