Man you have potential, your attention to details matches my level, I watched all the videos on kia e niro and nobody presented the regen problem and belive me I watched professionals. I like you keep up the good work ! I really appreciate you!

Thank you. The Regen strength is not a problem. It is just different to the Kona. The E-Niro has more Regen than other EVs.

Yes but the thing that is takes almost 1 sec from when you release the throttle until it start regen looks kind of annoying. Also the sound isolation it’s weaker than kona, I ‘ve heard this from other reviews but they we re saying that it must be probably because it’s an early car for the press and it may not have the rust protective layer on the chassis which may add and extra insulation layer for sound

Thanks again for another detailed informative video. You are lucky to have a fully loaded e-Niro in Europe. The UK gets a cut down version which is missing Phone app, LED headlights, rear cross traffic, sunroof, cooled seats, blind spot detection, rear power.. and more.. Its detailed in the Kia e-Niro UK Interest group on Facebook. I do wonder if the e-Niro you tried needs adjusting..I don't recall anyone else spotting the regen difference.

IRL = In person, in internet speak. The Niro is the car I would have gotten instead of my Ioniq if it was available at that time. Nice video like the new camera viewpoints in the bottom of the screen.

Hi, I really like your videos! In Niro you have to press and hold the paddles to have regen. Its different from Kona. In Kona you choose the level of regen with the paddles and then you don’t touch it anymore. I’m buying a Kona and watched all your previous vídeos. Thanks a lot! ;)

This car with a 75 kw battery would be the perfect car! By the way from other test Kona is like 5-6 percent more efficient especially at higher speeds (120 km/h) because E-Niro is a bulkier car overall.

If you hold down the left regen paddle, you can bring the car to a complete stop using regen. There is an extra regen level after level 3!

I like Kia e-niro. Great job. In central and western Europe, the Kia e-niro and the Hyundai Kona EV are an option, apart from Tesla, because you have many networks of loaders and fast superchargers at 50/100 and 150 kW. In Spain they are not an option to travel, because we only have 26 Tesla supercharger stations, about 214 points. This is impossible and many, like me, are waiting.

"....The cells in the Kona Electric are made by LG and use a cathode chemistry known as NMC 622 which stands for a ratio of 60 percent nickel, 20 percent manganese, and 20 percent cobalt. The cells in the Kia Niro EV are similar but are made by SK Innovation...." When you say you need to use the normal brakes, is that because you’re having to press on it? But even when you press the brake pedal it may start with regen no? Hopefully so, as if not then the brake pads/discs would wear out faster than one would hope with a BEV. Nice review! 👌🏽

I had a Kona for a few days and now have an eNiro that I bought. I agree with torque steer being less of an issue on eNiro, but I don't have any issue at all with regen and couldn't tell any difference at all between the two cars. Regen level 3 is pretty harsh on mine, and can make a choppy ride unless you are very careful. Warning for UK buyers, the spec of the car in the UK is not so good (no sunroof, no memory seats, heated seats but not seat cooling).

This defect in spec has now been addressed in the UK with the introduction of the 4+ spec.

You seemed confused as to why the why there wasn’t as much torque when starting from a dead stop. I would expect that it would be because the narrow tires can’t hold to the road surface without it. The Kona and eNiro have the same tires as the mid range Niro hybrid and those will break traction if you accelerate hard from a stop when turning.

Great comparison with Kona Electric.. So basically Niro EV has larger backseat and legroom... and delayed acceleration ... What about range? WLTP says Kona has less range than Niro EV, but EPA says Kona Electric has 30km more range than Niro EV.. hmm..

Strange I saw nearly 100 RU-vid tests and you're the first one to use the normal brakes. Yesterday saw a video that could drive one pedal. You've to look to your video and specially your face and the time you're not looking to the road.

So difference is its a bit bigger, different warrantee, interior detail, more features and maybe a bit cheaper, but all the colour choices suck on both.

Sew Doe They both are being built and sold already. Niro for a month or so. Kona since November.

I see you end up at almost 22 kWh/100 km on your 30 km test drive. That would give you around 300 km on a fully charged 64 kWh battery? Is the heat or anything on in the car or is that just what you get. Nice detailed review.

I suspect it is due to the high number of powerful accelerations. This is not eco driving at all. But eco driving was not the point of this video.

ateeqn1985 Uk will get a 110V Outlet, I am sure. Hone Charger is the same as in Kona. 2,4 KW.

I am afraid it does not get anything in the rear for back seat passenger power.. not even usb. See my above comment and also see in detail in the Kia e-Niro UK Interest group on Facebook.. I have tried to bring this to the attention of Kia UK. They don't seem to be interested in feedback or discussing it, even thought we have a huge membership in the group that have clearly expressed preferences for the missing options.

ateeqn1985 good questions. The word is the next year there will be higher spec in the UK. We are still of course waiting to see the demo cars. To get official answer it’s probably best to phone Kia uk.

@@neilbrandon higher spec welcome but... I would expect that higher spec or not, the e-niro will go up in price simply due to supply/demand . KONA went up 2.5k (not including Pic grant). .. So I will keep my current place in the que... Atm

It’s got more space, slightly better interior, uglier dashboard, and slightly lower efficiency (due to being larger and heavier). I wouldn’t call it better - different, yes, there are tradeoffs on both sides.
