It is the second winter im having this issue.. mechanics say its too much trouble to look into it because its very hard to find such a leak. Saw this video today, and found exactly the same thing! Poured some water and it indeed went into the trunk. Hope filling it will do the trick. Thanks a lot man!!!

My car has been leaking scene the time it rained and ever time we was are goes r Tru a car wash the fy time it really pour down rain stormed in 2017 after right after days after I bought it it filled up all the way rain was at the top of the seat where you sit down at build the car up that's how much but the harder the rain hits the car and the longer the rain hits the car it leaks more and more and more both sides from the back side of course at the bottom of the windshield on both sides leaks in even from there it leaks into the tail lights fill in the tail lights up with water because of the rain or car wash or washing the car because it runs in to the weld under the windshield will be a weld on each side caulking and selling it does not work it needs to be rewelded because it gets in there it gets into there I've even videoed it it's behind the firewall of your both rear of the cars and it leaks down into there even like I said leaking to the back side of your tail lights what are mostly gets right it goes right into it it's like a vacuum or something it's no t cracks in the holes are not so good it's running into the back side off my taillight of it where the light bulbs are
Took it to Kia around six times they didn't even pay attention to what I asked him from the first time it took me like after the third and fourth time to get them to even acknowledge the leaks no kidding because I don't know they kept my car the last time 6 days wanted to keep it for eight when I got it back I had flat tires scratches in the rims and claims that have been hit in the rear and I knew about it they said and that's why the tail lights leaked so they weren't going to replace them because I didn't report the wreck my car had never been hit in the rear end it's new I just didn't want to replace the tail lights after they told me they would on the 8th day my car and been gone even though my car is under warranty I even show them the pictures to the mechanics they seem not to care it rained so much in my car there's always moisture inside the car I can't never see out the windows it's dangerous at times it messed up the factory radio and it always has a stinky smell to it no matter whether that white deer cleaned it and dried it or you know bringing some fans and let it dry out and let it sit out in the sun it's still got a moldy smell today here in February I was a happy kid owner figured it was a little or nothing but it's major
I bought a 2012 optima as if the engine problem isn't bad enough , I've had the car for 3 months and it just started raining really bad , I live in fort Lauderdale by the way so you get the picture when it rains 😁 anyway I put a mop bucket in my car and it fills up to the top Andover. I siliconed the entire back window the antenna before I tried attempting to do this. Thank you for the Post 👌
2014 LX and mine leaked in the same location... I wondered why my trunk was moldy until I found and fixed it, turns out I also had a mini pool in the spare tire well too lol
@@shycardona The leak was actually coming from a faulty tail light housing gasket... Dealership never even go back to me about having it replaced either 😤!! To clean the mold, I just pulled the lining out and used our carpet wet vacuum on it and later allowed it to fully dry out before putting it back in.
@@jordans2003 There's no problem driving with the drain plug out, older cars didn't used to have a drain plug so a lot of people used to do just drill a hole. It is something you can do but it's always better to fix the problem because at the end rodents can find an easy way into your car.
Another water problem is upfront where the A/C drain line will clog and starts backing up. I discovered this problem in my 2015 Forte when ever I made a sharp lefthand turn driving as I could hear water sloshing up under the dash.....another sign to look for is that there is no water dripping from the drain line underneath the car when the A/C is turned on..it's a simple fix that doesn't require a trip to a mechanic.
We had the same problem with water in the car. Back floor and in the front floor. We found no crack in the body. However when you do take all the covers off, there is a vent that was causing our problem. I used silicone to seal the vent and vent flap.
Hello I have the same issue with my 2016 Forte- the vent is called a pressure vent . When it rains the water is seeping thru the vents entering from the taillights. I ordered the vents from the dealer- waiting for them to come in. Hopefully that will solve my problem.
My 2014 is leaking into the trunk well as well. I finally ripped everything out and cleaned/dried it. Going to work on sealing everything I can find tomorrow with silicone & flex seal.
@Mobile Terminaluser Cars always have holes and are supposed to have holes in several different locations, for water drainage, evaporation and air circulation. I don't think there's any reason to seal up every single hole in the car but if you're experiencing a lot of water coming into your car then it's good to find from where it's coming and why.
I had the same issue on mi Kia Cerato 2014, exactly se same gap on left stop light, the trunk was flooded and the water made its way to the cabin through the back seats, the floor carpets were soaked, it was pretty FUBAR.
Same exact problem on a different year model. But it's not from any damage. It's leaking in through the screw holes where the light meets the body, and the vent on the side near the bottom. I spent several hours figuring out where it was leaking and trying to fix it. I had to caulk up the entire outer perimeter of the vents on each side, and am still looking for a solution to the screw holes. My carpets in my trunk were soaked, and had mold growing all over the bottom sides. It also caused a bunch of rust and basically ruined a gun I had in the trunk also. I really liked the car but I am astounded with how shoddy this design is. I got it because it had such good ratings. Wtf?
The reviews are good because for the price it is a pretty reliable car, with every vehicle there are downsides. There was a recall for the gasket that sits between the screws and the tail lights I'm not sure if this applies to your year or model but I would suggest looking into that.
Thanks for posting this. I just discovered a pond in the trunk of my 2018 Forte and all of the rug and mats are soaked. Has Kia said anything about this?
@@RVGuyss i took it to the dealer and they definitely were not covering this under any kind of warranty or warranty extension. they did inform me about the recall for the seals like you said. Waiting for parts. BTW how did you get out all of the water?
@@AndySalazar0420 to remove the water, There are plastic plugs on the bottom where the spare tire should go, you can either pull them out or poke a hole through them I suggest pulling it out so you can put it back in once it finished.
@@RVGuyss thanks we got some sealant and put at the top of the light all the way from the trunk down to the far end of the light and will do the same to the other side also just to make sure it doesn't leak also
