This was interesting and I thought I'd share this because it was just going to be a quick video on the repair on the switch itself, because the rubber gets old and cracks causing the primary issue, but what was more interesting, is due to the integration of all of the systems of the car, how many other systems become effected.
Initially thinking that a light was left on, and there were other issues the car was charged up and information was gathered as to this acceleration issue. We weren't aware at the time of the brake light issue. It wasn't until the next day that when the car battery went flat that we had noticed the brake lights on in the garage which localized the problem to the switch. That brought us to this repair video. What was interesting was that the repair of this switch cleared all of the other issues that were being experienced which were:
Battery drain: Obvious
Brake light issue: Obvious
TCS Light off: Surprising
Accelerator cutout problem Very surprising
Either way, these persistent issues were gone, and yes the harnesses were checked on the pedal yesterday before any work was done here and did not help those issues.
Using a fir clip was satisfactory and ensured that this will never break again. It seems like a good repair.
