I loath charge sockets in the front. I don't like parking 'front first' because as you swing into and out of tight spaces your front has to turn in an arc - it's far better and safer to reverse in. It's better to see where you are going when you leave too (especially if the camera doesn't work well in the dark and wet!)
I’ve the Kia Nero 4+ , 2 years old no problem with the reversing camera, I just bought the after market camera wiper that’s clipped to the rear wiper. It cleans the camera Lens with each pass of the wiper blade, great.
I agree with the lack of pre-planned pre-heating but I can live with it. What I really **HATE** (HATE HATE HATE) is what you also mentioned - the beeping. I live in a remote, quiet village. Everyone knows when I'm coming home and backing up into my drive. It's ridiculous to have the beeping SO LOUD. If I had young children, I would definitely NOT choose the e-Niro / Niro EV as my car! Every user and reviewer seems to be complaining about this. I can't understand why Kia doesn't change the software insofar that you could reduce the loudness of the beeping to a minimum.
This seems like a KIA thing as the EV6 has the same issue. It seems as though they are been over cautious. Just don’t allow it if the battery is less the 30% year or so.
Thank you for such a well detailed video! I just got a 2024 Niro SX Touring PHEV. I had a 2024 Seltos SX before and I'm bummed the Dynamic Cluster is not an option in this Niro. Seems strange they wouldn't include that option. Maybe they changed the display and it can't handle the cool features of the Dynamic Display(?). Also, I notice when turning my Niro off that the "USB A" connector stays active. Being this Niro doesn't have wireless android Auto,i purchased a dongle on Amazon to make that possible. It works great. Being this "USB A" stays active is a little problem. When I am parked in my attached garage and am playing a RU-vid video it's trying to play through the Niro and I then need to turn off Bluetooth on my phone otherwise the video doesn't pay or I don't hear it.
I go along with you on some of the unnecessary pings, but some are there to state you’ve done a certain thing like one pedal on or off. As for the preheat I don’t find it any big deal to use the app when the cars not plugged in, like you others might. You know, these are small irritations compared to the problems VW are having with their EV’s.
For me the most important thing they should change, is the speed of charging with DC. Hopefully this is possible by a software update sometimes in the future? What could be the maximum with our Kia Niro EV?
I think it is the battery and the cooling they use. The battery manufacturer gives them a recommendation of charging. They would increase it instantly, if it would be possible.
Do not purchase a kia or hyundai until they modify the reverse sound. Why does it need to be an alarm when all other ev's just hum. OK on a busy start during the day. But at night in a residential neighbourhood when a neighbour comes home or goes out during the early hours, why does everyone need to hear an alarm. Kia and hyundai Modify it now to all new and existing cars. It's a health hazard
Got mine four weeks ago, mostly pleased with it so far. You can tone down those beeps, but can't turn them off. Couple of things: It has a known bug. If you preheat your car without cable then every once in a while it fails to activate gear. Very annoying, it happened to me twice in four weeks. Lock the car for 15min usually cures that. ACC uses a sensor in the front. This sensor has no heater element and it tends to block when snowing (it snows Finland). If sensor is blocked then ACC turns off. There is old style CC, but to turn it on you first need to activate ACC which you can't do due to blocked sensor.
I recently watched one of your German videos, just for the fun of trying (I am from Denmark and understand German) - Funny thing I think you voice sounds more natural in English, however it might be because I have watched your English videos for a while now and gotten used to you speaking English
What I dont like is the huge price of "extras" like heated seats and a heated steering wheel that my Leaf has as standard, otherwise I would buy this. So I wait for the gen3 Leaf in 2024~2025 or get a Chinese CUV like the atto3 (gen2).
The preheating when not charging must be a bug as I have owned a Hyundai kona 2021 and that would preheat with a schedule when not plugged in….same for the old Kia eniro. Biggest negative to me is the charging speed.
@@BatteryLife that makes no sense 🤷♂️ so you are saying you can not preheat the cabin or defrost it unless it’s charging? I am repeating this to ensure I have understood correctly and not misunderstood…
@@Popdog76 planned* preheating. So you cannot scedule it. If you wake up, brush your teeth, start your breakfast and press pre-head or cool, it will do it without being plugged. But it wont do it if you set it for 07:00 pm for example. which is fine by me, because i dont go to work on the same time in a week. it differs, but i get some people do need to do that.
Another great video! Many thanks! The likes you mentioned are indeed great things about the car! For me the needed improvements are: The navigation could look better. It now looks a bit outdated. I also want the percentage of the battery to be always in the instrument cluster in the current ice car like fuel meter. I also hear small stones hitting below the car a lot better in the Kia? Maybe I need the mudguards installed? Soundproofing could be better but its good compared to an ICE car. The DC charging speed is ok for the once or twice per year long trip, but I would rather have seen 100 kW or 150 kW would be even better. Other than that its a great experience driving around! FYI he sound quality is actually great (after setting the desired eq) I don’t have the Harman Kardon speakers, just the normal ones. I don’t know the brand of the speakers(yet). Anyone knows this?
"You can make some of the people happy some of the time but you can't make all of the people happy all of the time." Personally, I don't mind the beeping. I also understand why Kia limits the pre-heating without it being plugged in or for only 15 minutes through the app.... people are careless and will kill their ev range by overdoing it. I've seen people idling their automobiles in the dead of a Canadian winter for 20-30 minutes..... morons!
Why have they made such rookie mistakes? My i3s rear view camera although it does get dirty quickly at least you can see out of it at night. Sorry but having the charging port at the front is the second worst place possible because.. it gets covered in dirt, can freeze over in ice and snow, car will be out of use if it’s involved in only a mild impact, you should reverse park at all times in fact it should be mandatory. If you are wondering which is the number one worst place for the port it’s where mine is on my i3s (right side rear) best possible place is left side rear (see Tesla’s) 😁
