KIA Sportage 1.6 T-GDI POV Review [Car Obsession]
Hello guys, welcome back to Car Obsession, and welcome to another POV review. This time around it's the new KIA KIA Sportage 1.6 T-GDI.
The model on test is the '3', which is one up from the base model and has a starting price of £32,000. Standard features include LED lights, front and rear parking sensors, tinted rear windows, keyless entry, 18" alloys, dual zone climate control, 12.3" touchscreen, 12.3" digital driver display, heated front seats, heated outer rear seats, heated steering wheel, sat nav, reversing camera, as well as a healthy amount of safety features.
The model tested is powered by a 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol, which believe or not, features no electrification. The engine offers 150hp, along with 250Nm of torque, which is fed to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. In terms of performance, the Sportage will hit 60mph in 9.9 seconds, with a top speed of 113mph. Regarding fuel economy, on a combined run you can expect up to 41.5mpg and CO2 emissions are 154g/km.

Since I'm not a pro-electric-inclined man, I got my wife a 2.5L petrol engine one; 8-gear auto tranny. We're getting way over the 32-mile-per-gallon [rated miles] by the EPA. LOVING IT!!! Oh, and here in the U.S., Hyundais/KIAs have a 10-year/100,000k- mile Warranty!!!

I'm looking at getting one of these, I think it's the 1.6 GDI ISG 2. I really like the look of them the body work is really nice. And after this I think you've sold me on it and it's what I'll go for. Great video mate very informative keep up the good work.

Thank you for a no hybrid/ plug-in review. In my country, we only have the 1.6T petrol auto available. Haven't found many reviews on this particular drive train/option.

The line assist can be deactivate or activate if you press long the button from the steering wheel. There's no need to go in the settings on the dashboard. Thank you for the presentation, good luck! 👋

i have this car, picked iy up from dealership 3 months ago, i generaly agree with his comments BUT not with the consumption, in town work and driving gently but the best i get is 22 mph which is very poor. will give it another month then its back to the dealership with it.

@@CarObsessioni usualy change my vehicles every three years, for the past 12 years i have driven bmw 320d se, my last one the longest i kept the same vehicle was just under 6 years with a total milleage of 30k +200. i decided to go for a KIA as couple of friends had them and loved them, so i opted for the 2023 sportage gtline had it for three months and did 520 miles. Tomorrow i take it on a decent drive as i tour the Scottish Highlands, so shall see how the economy goes. suffice to say i have been driving motorised vehicles for nearly 6 decades less one year, so fair to say i am a more than capapble driver (never had an accident in that time). *SO TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, HOW AM I DRIVING IT, WITH YOUR SMILEY FACE* I shall simply reply, properly.

Thanks for some great info mate 👍 Do you know if the front USB A socket is for data as well as charging….? I know that the USB C socket next to it is for charging only but I am not sure about the USB A socket…. Thanks again

The front USB is data and does charge the phone but not fast. Next to it there type c which is mainly for charge and not data.i hope I have answered your your query😊

The 3 has the most equipment with electric and heated seats heated steering wheel etc. I have just ordered one and I was going for the gt line as I have the previous model at moment but the I went with the 3 as I wanted all the equipment

Hi Craig, thank you for watching. The '3' is only one up from the base model, so it won't have all most equipment, so I'm not sure what you mean by your comment.

@@CarObsession the gt line doesn’t have heated seats in the rear, heated steering wheel or electric seats. This was removed from the new model gt line. I currently have the previous. The models are so close together in the new gen where it’s hard to differentiate from them!

What is the difference between the ECO and Normal driving mode?

Hi there, thanks for watching, and thanks for the question. The Eco driving mode will limit the engine's power/throttle input in order to give better fuel economy.

In the US it's "Normal" mode; in Europe, it's "Eco", bro'!
