THANK YOU UNCLE BUDDY!!! You saved me $450. The KIA dealerships and parts departments were not helpful, they denied the existence of said part then denied it was for my 2017 Kia Sportage Turbo. The KIA dealer tries to tell you that you have to buy an entire handle assembly, and tries to say the button is not part of a serviceable part. LIES!!! They just want your money! They wanted to charge me about $200 for the handle , $80 to paint it and $250 for labor . I bought the part through a kia parts dealer in Nevada for $77 plus $10 shipping and it took me less than an hour to replace! Thank God for Uncle Buddy, who shared this part number and repair video!!!
Thank you. KIA dealer in Holland Michigan just told me had to replace the entire handle and car would need to be repainted. I'm going to order the part and do it myself.
My button fell out but it was still working with my finger😂 then it just stopped working and when i walk up to the door it doesn’t recognize my key but my key still works to hit unlock
Surprisingly, I also have a Kia Sportage 2019 and faced the same issue a month ago. Failed to find anything about it on YT as well and had to figure it out, but I was lucky to find the button hanging in its place and managed to fix it somehow!
Thanks for the tutorial. Was able to buy the push button rubber replacement for $8 and with your video able to get that handle apart and replace, now it's working again.
I bought mine, just the button off ebay. $8. I used couple (gift cards) to help get the handle apart. I would suggest trying to get his part. My $8 part worked, but was not perfect.
I wonder if it is the same for the Kia Niro. I went in to the parts department at Kia and they told me that I would have to replace the whole door handle to fix it. The cost was $44 per handle. This was like 6 months ago. I am thinking about finally replacing them both myself and haven't been able to find any video on it specifically. Your video has been the most helpful that I have found. Thank you!!
Uncle Buddy......This just happened to my wife's 2017 Kia Sportage. Went to dealer, and they told me that for the 2016 - 2019, they only sell the door handle as a complete unit. I tried to purchase just the switch/button and was told it isn't sold separately. Of course if you buy door handle it doesn't come painted either. I'm a DIY guy and like to figure things out myself as well. Came across your video, and hoping this will work on her vehicle.
That was a problem I was having, if pause the video on the part number they should be able to sell that to you individually. If they don't find another Kia dealer.
had the same issue with the driver's side handle and the dealer charged nearly $300 to replace one handle assembly and yes, they had to paint a part of the handle to match... now the passenger door is out, and I've purchased a pair of handles with antennas included from Amazon for $46 - I plan to remove the antennae and install it in the passenger handle - I'll let you know how it goes!
You can change the button only, it will only cost you about 10$ rather than changing the whole antenna assembly. It will only require some wiring works
There should be one screw on the side of the door that is level with the handle 10 mm if I'm remembering right. After removing the screw the door handle should tilt and come out. I hope this helps.
