Excellent demonstration of how to DIY service these 8spd transmissions on these cars, which will included the Genesis models with same trans (valve body & TCU programming may differ). Had done this 3 years ago on my G80 (thankfully on a lift) but never did a video. My pan only had a single internal riser tube. Will make sure your video gets shared with the Genesis community👍

I'm looking into doing this now since I upgraded my transmission oil cooler to a slightly larger one. Did you also go with the OEM transmission fluid???

@@marcozacarias1675 the first time I changed trans fluid was a complete flush (no pan/filter) at the dealer @55k mls, they had a special for $250. At 80k I started 4x3 flushes on my own every 7-10k using the same Ravenol fluid as FearlessMods did. The trans pan/filter I replaced myself on the 1st flush @80k. Had also bought a case of this fluid from same place as FM. Next best fluid to oem if not better. Some say Ravenol makes it for Hyundai and they relabel it. If you replace it yourself I don't recommend adding what comes out by measuring. Use FMs instructions.

Absolutely great video, very informative. I just installed a new bigger transmission oil cooler on my G80 and was thinking all I had to do was pour the additional transmission fluid through the transmission dip stick to find out these don't have them!!! What a pain in the aaaaa to go through all this

The 3 to 2 downshift is a TCU adaptive learning issue. The adaptives need to be reset.

I have a 2020 gt limited LOVE IT I inquired several times for the exact same issue HARD DOWN SHIFTING FROM 3rd gear to 2nd. Dealer said NO worries ! So I haven't done anything about it. I have 38,000 Kms ( 23,000 miles ) And will service the transmission myslef as well Thanks for the great DIY video Ian - Ontario Canada

FYI if you can’t find the parts, as you saw in the vid I have an extra new Blauparts kit and 18ish qts of fluid but don’t know how much shipping would be to Ontario.

Did the drain and fill solve the issue of the hard down shifting as you mentioned in your video? My 2018 GT2 is doing that. @@FearlessMods

@aylmarthompson I think it helped, but it didn’t completely go away. The car got totaled again before I really had a chance to check it out. 😢

Great job on this video, thanks for all the details! Where did you place your rear jack stands? I see the front ones under the control arms but couldn't see where the rear ones were located. Hopefully you or one of the others can let me know :) I have ramps I can put under the rear tires so have options

Looks like I put them on the forward inboard part where the lower control arm connects to the body. That’s pretty bulky and strong aluminum. Also, I have an entire kit with fluid and filter if you’d like to buy at a discount plus shipping. Email if interested biff8892@me.com.

I have a 2019 stinger base with 61,232 miles.. my car keep going into limp mode i took it to the dealership to get a oil change cause i thought that was the problem now I’m bout to take it back to get a transmission an filter change … do you think that’s the problem? No check engine lights

I have a 2022 10,000 k and My car has the same shift as you describe, Only in Sports Mode it will hold 2nd gear and when braking it will drop down to 2nd hard. I have a service coming up at 15,000 and will ask them about this and will tel you know if you don't find out before Me.

It didn’t seem like you actually did a flush but only a drain and fill. Doesn’t flushing actually require a machine that uses pressure that removes all of the fluid? Correct me if im wrong

You're correct. More of a massive and repetitive dilution! DIY method without expensive dealership equipment.

What is the tightening torque for the bolts of the pan itself. I have changed the new pan/gasket, but it's leaking. Thanks.

13:07 Unfortunately, I never found the torque spec, so I snugged them down evenly by hand. If I recall, they had metal sleeves in them, so the only danger of overtorquing would be stripping out the aluminum of the female threads, so don’t overtighten them!

@@matasorentas5328 ⁠ I’m going to say no, because of those metal sleeves. However, it might be worth checking to make sure you didn’t pinch the gasket somewhere or that it wasn’t seated correctly. Also make sure that the mating surface on the transmission is clean and smooth.

Assuming you're not doing it under high pressure, that's not a bad idea. However, you'll have to figure out the best way to ensure it starts running out that same port without making an extreme mess!

Btw, I have 6k miles, and shifting from/to second and third gears is the same. Did your flush make the shifting smoother?

It definitely helped because I haven't noticed the cold weather effects on those upshifts. However, the downshifts are still similar.

@@FearlessMods the downshift is horrible on my stinger as well. I want to test drive a new one from a dealership to see how it downshifts.

@@gbazil Hi I have the 2022 and the shift is the same on the new one but there is a TCU TUNE so I will ask my dealer why the shifts are so hard and see if they can change the shift.
