Hi Tom, The pronunciation of Kiama is "Ki-ama", with the "i" pronounced as "I" (as in "I am"). The "ama" is pronounced as "am-a" (also as in "I am"). I have had two experiences at the Kiama blowhole, one was quiet and the other was active. I have been to Kiama on several occasions. The hills north of there are part of Bombo, where I stayed overnight at a friend's place back in 1973 and the back view had a complete view of Kiama. The warning sign at 18:50 says "No Tommos Allowed"!!! LOL. Better tell your shadow to take care there, getting a bit too far ahead. We don't have crows here in Australia, but we do have plenty of ravens. All the very best. Rob.
Thanks for another great video. The pronunciation of Kiama is to sound the 'Ki' syllable the way you would pronounce pie, the emphasis being on the 'i' as it is in pie.
Years ago, I learnt a bit of "old Australian lingo" from my grandfather, who was born in 1888. In his young days, a mate was a cobber, a lady was a sheila and if a person was in a good financial position, they were "riding on a pig's back".
