This was my very first dip kit that I bought four or five years ago. It got me hooked. Such awesome tools, liquids, and colors to start off with. Now, I’m over 100 dip colors and many manis later 💅🏻✨Not a pro, but I can do my own pretty well. Thank you for your tips and reviews, very helpful and pleasant to watch. ❤
Hello I just started doing dip powder nails last week and I've been watching your videos to educate myself but I've been subscribed since the end of the year so thanks for your uploads and I love this set 💝💖💝
I am happy to see a Kiara Sky dip video that is recent! I researched on RU-vid and also found out my local salons use Kiara Sky so I purchased their kit as my first DIY dip powder set. I love their products! I am new so I have only used them a few times, but my manicure lasts until I get bored and want to try a new one! Their French set is awesome and I love how my nails look and how strong they are!! Yours turned out beautiful! I want to experiment with more colors and also with gel on top of the dip!! Thanks for the video! 😄
I know this is old but…. Can we all stop and take a moment for that gorgeous ring of yours!! Damn! That is stunning! I just received this dip kit! So excited! great video, thank you!
Going to try your technique of letting sealant dry for 2 mins and then run to finish drying sealant. I keep running into top coat hardening once it touches sealant.
That can be super frustrating! To combat that, after 2 min pass I use a dry napkin/lint free wipe and rub it across the nail. Then do 3 quick strokes of top coat. Then a more detailed 2nd layer. I also wipe the brush off each time on a napkin before returning it to the bottle. I hope this helps! Here’s a more in depth tutorial as well on contamination prevention 🫶🏻 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8qyo1t-VHPI.htmlsi=uguAFOJKUOe6M0kb
I’ve had my nail license when it was the powder and liquid old acrylic was in, so I figured dip nails should be easier. Well it is! Ordered this kit today can’t wait to try it. I’ve done nailboo now in new bottles! I’ve tried Revel 2 in 1 base/top coat. Just tried Maniboss liquids. Love your tips and recommendation’s. My nails are very thin so I always put tips on. I’m looking forward to the powder dispenser, I pour on top also. I just feel the layers come out thinner and less buffing is needed. Love your videos!!
Hi Leila!! I am so happy to hear you gave dipping a tried! Before I tried dipping I tried acrylic with monomer and shewwww it was a hot mess 😆 all user error but I found dip powder so much easier too 💗💗💗
Hi Chelsea! I’m just discovered your channel through Marla Kriss, and I’m so glad! I’ve been wanting to try dip powder, and my sister wanted to get me a starter kit for my birthday. Kiara Sky is the brand her friend uses, so I was thrilled that you created such an in depth tutorial. I will send her your link!💕💕
Hiii Suzanne!! Welcome!! 💗💗💗 Marla is amazing 🥰 And happy birthday 🧁 your sister sounds so thoughtful and sweet! I can’t wait to hear what you think of it if you try it 💗
Bought my first Kiara Sky dip kit! It was amazing!!! I’m having soooo much fun with my new set. Glamorous Nails had the kit on sale this week. $45 for everything! 💅❤❤
What brand peel base do you use? I know there are many out there but I love that what you use has kept your nails in great shape. Another Beautiful video. I am new to all this and have learned SO much from your videos. You are a very gifted teacher. Keep up the great work!
🥹💗 thank you SO much for the kind words and support! I used UNT peel base for a long time but unfortunately it has been out of stock for a while. So recently, I’ve switched to Virgo and Gem’s peel base. It’s extremely comparable to UNT! It does take a little bit to dry (5-10 min) but I have found that the slower drying peel base brands are more gentle during removal 💗
This is a beautiful manicure. My local nails place uses Kiara Sky. I've paid upwards of $50 for one application. Definitely worth purchasing the products and DIY'ing. Question, can you mix and match powders and liquids?
I have had soo many share this same response about salons using it and the prices! I can see why the salons carry it though! Quicker drying and a great quality 🙌🏼 but I’m totally with you on the DIY 💯 the 1 oz jars will last a LONGGG time too. You can absolutely mix and match different brand liquids + powders! I have been doing that for a few years and haven’t encountered any issues 🥰
Great videos! I’ve been bin watching a lot of yours to get comfortable with the process before I try it for myself. One question, can you only get the Prim and Proper color in the kit or do they sell it separately? I checked there website but I’m not finding it. It’s really pretty and subtle, but I don’t need the kit at this time. 🤷🏼♀️
Thanks for video. I have used alot of kiara sky. But was thinking of trying something Else. What do you think is best, the kiara sky kit or azure beauty? 🙌🏻
Ohhh that’s tricky!! I feel like both are great products. Kiara sky is definitely pricier but the jars are also larger. Azure is great for affordability. I personally prefer smaller jars and more colors rather than 1 larger jar. It comes down to personal preference and budget 🫶🏻 you can’t go wrong with either!
I’ve been doing my nails for a while so I just love watching vids to support you guys. But I must say… this video was amazing!!! So detailed in your explanations I was truly impressed and I think it will be SO helpful for new dippers! Well done Chels 😍😍😍
This Kiara Sky kit was the first dip kit I purchased and fell in love immediately. Unfortunately the base was to strong for me so I had to switch to the gel method. Kiara Sky products are overall great
I’m so glad you didn’t give up and gave the gel method a try 🙌🏼 if you decide you ever want to dabble in dip liquids again, I just got to try Color my world dips odorless liquids and they were phenomenal. It’s a really slow drying base and the top coat was nice and shiny ✨ I got off topic there for a second with unsolicited opinions 🤣🙈
Hi! I’m newer to dip nails. Can you explain the difference between the natural base powder you used and clear? From what I’ve seen from some kits the base powder is used to clear cap as well, unless I’m mistaken. Do different brands just handle this differently? 🤔 Love your videos! 🤗
Hi Alissa and welcome! 🫶🏻 So Kiara’s natural base isn’t truly transparent. It works great to build up an apex or protect the natural nail from staining. I felt like the natural base covered any imperfections on my natural nail better than when I build an apex with clear. It’s not a HUGE difference by any means but it definitely works 💕 Clear can be used to build up and apex as well! The difference is that clear can also be used to encapsulate and protect color/glitter while the natural base cannot. I hope this makes sense 💖 Most brands seem to not offer a natural base and usually only offer a clear. It’s a nice addition but not “necessary” because the clear can do the same job 💖 it just comes down to personal preference 🥰
Hi, I’m looking at buying a dip powder kit! I’m debating between this one and the beetles one. In your personal opinion would you say to start off with buying the beetles one or go straight to this one? I struggle with gel as it doesn’t stay on my nails no matter what I do or what professionals do either, acrylics work well for me however I would like to give dip powder a go as this is a lot better for your nails in the long run. Baring this in mind would you say that makes a difference in what kit I go for? Any help/advice would be appreciated! Xxx
Hi there!! So this is tricky because it can vary based on personal preference of liquids, prices, color options etc. But after hearing your situation, I think I would still suggest trying the beetles kit. With it being more affordable and you get more color options, for a beginner I would try that first! Let that be the kit that gets your feet wet to see if you’re interested in continuing. It’s a great starting point! Then if you love doing your own dip nails then I would start to experiment with other brands 💕 but truly, both kits are amazing! For longevity, that will come down to your prep routine and having enough strength with your dip powder (layers). Once you get those 2 down, you’ll get a long wear time! 🫶🏻💕 Hope this helps and happy dipping!
I did… unfortunately, it was not a positive experience. The powders were really grainy, almost like salt. The company did offer to make it right but because I found that to be the consistency for all of the powders they sent… I didn’t want to allow them to give me special treatment with a replacement and then share a review on it. I do commend them for trying to correct it… but it seemed like a quality issue so I would be hesitant 🙈😅
Great video. I wanted to know if the base glazes are odorless? I am concerned about the dip flu but did watch your video with the gel base coats with the dip system.
Totally understand your concerns! 🫶🏻 unfortunately, this dip liquid system is not odorless. BUT color my world dips on Etsy does sell a phenomenal odorless system. It’s the base and top coat. The base is a thin consistency + slow dry time. The top coat is great and a high shine. You can use any activator with the base + top coat as well. Here is the link to her website and includes my coupon code. I don’t receive anything for the coupon code, just a savings to my community 🥰 I hope this helps! www.etsy.com/shop/ColorMyWorldDips?coupon=CHELSEA10
I have a love hate relationship with Kira sky. This was my first dip kit. It’s not cheep, but they come with everything you need, and the liquids are good. I have always had a problem with their top coat, and their colors are hit or miss. Some are pixelated, which I hate, and some are great. But, their color options are endless!
It can be so frustrating when the dip top coat doesn’t want to cooperate 😵💫 and when the colors don’t live up to expectations because the jars are so large! I would totally reach out to their customer service too though to see if they will refund/exchange. I know lots of companies do!
I would say they’re very comparable! I think Double dip has a little bit more of a strong odor but that’s so tricky because we all have different sensitivity to that. Both have a thinner consistency base. The dry time is probably comparable too! I found both brands easy to use though 💗💗
I can see why you love it!! They just launched a new freshly peaches collection too! Honestly, if you love that brand there’s absolutely nothing wrong with sticking to it 💗💗💗
@@SipAndDip thank you!! I have another question for you. I have been using a soft brush to brush the powder dip off between layers. I saw you use a hard brush. I have been having issues with my base liquid getting hard and sticky after a couple of months and wondered if it was because I am using the wrong brush to brush my powder between layers. Any ideas?
Beatiful mani❤. I love kiara sky dipbase and powders but the topcoat contaminates really fast. And i wipe after each nail before i put it in the bottle.
Oh noo! I’m sorry to hear that! 💗 that can be so frustrating when that happens! I’m not sure what all you have tried but here are my steps just in case! 🥰 1. After 2nd activator dries for 2 min, I wipe with a dry napkin/lint free wipe. Just to make sure there isn’t any leftover activator residue. 2. First layer of top coat is 3 quick strokes on the nail. 3. Wipe brush off on napkin, both sides before dipping back into bottle for more product 4. Let first layer of top coat dry before 2nd (for Kiara sky. Other brands sometimes instruct to go in immediately for 2nd layer) I have definitely found some top coats are more finicky than others so I absolutely understand how frustrating that is 💗💗
Gia Bellino - sorry to hear that 😭💗 I’m not sure what all you have tried for prevention but here are a few tricks just in case! After each time it touches my nail, before dipping back in the bottle for more product, I wipe the brush off on a napkin on both sides. I also use a stiff scrub brush to remove as much excess powder as possible so it doesn’t get on my brush bristles. I hope you find a base brand that you love! 💗💗💗
Oh i have these base and top problems too. First i dont have but few months later all problems stated. I bought new bottles but the same happens.. i dont know why 😵
Thank you SO much Chels!!! I am very fair skinned and I really appreciate you showing their neutral shade. I will definitely be adding this set to my wish list (mother’s day maybe ;) lol)
Kiara Sky was my first kit for dipping. While I don't use dip liquids any longer (I use gel base and topcoat over full cover gelly nails) I do still use their powders.
@@SipAndDip I love a shorter coffin. After trying several brands (including Kiara Sky -which was also my first full cover and gel kit), they're all too long for me, even the short! I know Painted Desert has super short coffin, but they're always out of stock! I use Kokoist short almond and file the tips a little to be coffin. They're pre-etched and no primer or bond is needed, just 90% alcohol. They recommend their own Mega Stick gel and what I love, is to take my time and use the version in a pot with a brush. They have a version in a bottle, but it's a tad thinner. With the base in the pot, I get a better application and very little spillage. When applied properly, gelly tips don't lift, and grow out is minimal for fills.
I am a licensed nail technician and am allergic to acrylic liquid as well as gel products. With Kiara Sky dip powder system I my finger tips tingle and the skin around the nail gets red. If I leave the product on my natural nail gets soft and separates from the nail bed. I use to do fiberglass without any issues. Do you have any suggestions as to why this is happening? I am wondering if using nail glue in place of the base and seal protect would work with this system. Thank you in advance for your help
So sorry to hear this 🥺🫶🏻 that sounds painful! It’s hard to say but my guess would be that you’re also having an allergic reaction to their products. I wouldn’t suggest replacing nail glue for the base + seal protect because they react with the activator to harden. I don’t know that nail glue has the same chemicals to create that hardening reaction. So sorry again and I hope your nails and skin heal quickly 🫶🏻
For me, yes! I do know of some who like to do this with the dip base but I feel like it can get a little wonky when doing that. It’s ultimately, personal preference 🫶🏻
I haven’t smelled their monomer to say a fair comparison but I find it to have the standard dip powder liquid odor. Basically super glue smell! I recently purchased an air purifier that I keep on my desk to help with the odor. BUT there are odorless dip liquid options too! Color My World on Etsy sells one, Sparkle and co does and Revel just launched a sensitive liquid line. All great options if you have any sort of sensitivity to smell 🫶🏻💖
Another great video, thank you so much! I just used Dip Nailed It with a dark color of Kiara sky, and followed with clear from Kiara sky, do you know why I'm getting white spots from buffing? They actually looked great before I did that step, thanks for any help!
Hey Brenda!! I’m sorry to hear that!! 💗💗💗 did it look like white spots or more like white scratches? If it was white spots/specks it could be excess clear on the nail. I like to use a stiff scrub brush to reallyyyy scrub it all off! If it’s white scratches it could be a little bit of over filing and going through the clear. If you have pictures feel free to DM me too! 💗💗💗
@@SipAndDip It was spots, but after I buffed more and applied second activator it turned out ok. My skiara sky clear was unusually chunky and I had a hard time getting it super smooth. I bought it at Cosmoprof and they've just started carrying it so I don't think it was old. Thanks for your help though, I really appreciate it.
@@brendaschafer956 ahhhh! It definitely sounds like it’s the clear! I would definitely try out a different brand clear and see if it helps. Those pesky spots can be so frustrating 😖
The natural isn’t something you would want to put ON color/glitter dip powder to protect it like clear. The natural has a tiny bit of cloudiness and more opaque. It makes it ideal for building an apex but not for clear encapsulation because it would cloud the color/glitter.
