I'd not seen the very low steep eq trick before, so that's definitely something I'll try going forward. My two go-to methods for getting things aligned are a slight pitch envelope on my kick sample, or using an all-pass filter or something like a Disperse from kilohearts and adjusting the frequency to align. These work if using samples or presets from other artists.. but the ideal method is to just align things at synthesis time. One neat trick when using something like Phase Plant is to set up a series of stacked wavetable oscillators for the fundamental, next couple of harmonics, and then the rest of the saw wave. And then it is possible to align each of the first few harmonics independantly to ensure kick alignment - but this is a lot of work.

A lot of good methods. The last one I tried in some other video. But only with selarating the fundamental and then changing the phase of that one.

@@Psiger I'm new to your channel, so I think I'll need to go back and watch everything else! :) I think because it's so easy to work on 1 or more of the other harmonics it's interesting to experiment. I've had the first 5 harmonics working as separate oscillators. Another nice benefit is it's possible to not only adjust the phase, but also the level.. so you can tune the timbre of the bass sound without using EQ. But, in PhasePlant you can do the phase rotation and level of each harmonic within the wavetable editor, so yeah, I'm with you and had settled on the fundamental in one group and the rest of the harmonics in another.

I use low shelf and works perfect without causing phase artifacts and pre ringing caused by the EQ itself

We dont see much of the volume automation done with LFO Tools on the osciloscope at 21:35 because the volume of the 1st bass note was already reduced. Nice idea to adjust the kicks phase with an EQ :)

Yeah thats true, I usually also do it just with the volume automation and then use this more to fine adjust it. But you can use just one of those as well, either way is fine, important is only to make it work in the end, and shape it like you want it.

My opinion on the brickwall EQ right now is to put it in a separate EQ on "linear phase" and put it before any other effects on the kick and not the bass. Don't mix linear phase with other EQs except the lowend brickwall and don't put it after any other effects. I don't really have anything to back this up with except my opinion. I highly recommend you spend some time splitting the brickwall EQ on a separate EQ and move it around on different locations in the chain and examine the effects.

Testing diff things is always a good idea. Usually, I only put more fine detail behind stuff or a mastering EQ to cut the final lows

psyscope und pha 979 mit jeder spur als eigene farbe und summe der wellen find ich am genauesten obs so am besten klingt ist ne andrere frage ^^ grüße

Ich bin da nicht mehr 100% überzeugt davon dass in einzelnen Spuren zu machen wegen dem Thema mit dem Zero Crossing was ich da anschneide. Wobei am Ende auch immer das Gehör die letzte Entscheidung bei mir ist.

@@Psiger wo schneidest du das an ? habe nochmal gecheckt auch mit psyscope absolut kein unterschied ob der bass in einer spur ist oder in 2 spuren ? zero crossing sollte man schon hören wenn es da probleme gibt und aufjedenfall sehen in psyscope ? der grund ist warum ich das gerne in 2 spuren mache dann lässt sich der erste bass besser anpassen fundament erste harmonie entfernen und so :) grüße

well done tutorial as always. I saw a amazing and very easy way, to bring them in line. Its from Eclipse. You just put low shelv filter, at the first signal from the baseline. He ment, it brings exactly the same outcome. I do not hear a difference between working with phra tool or the shelf. But hey iam just a noob:D

@@Psiger After trying out many tutorials, E-Clips way worked best for me, too. I think theres a newer one on his channel, but i can be wrong, maybe it was a sounddesign video for bassline. I,ve watched it already some time ago, I think the difference was instead of using fab Q3 on the first bass note, he removes the first harmonic in serum
