This is insane! One question all thought. Does it need the raw wave you created and then converted into a single circle through vital, in project base key? Or it doesn't matter?

ideally you will use vital as it can convert the file into a wavetable that any synth can read correctly. Synths such as serum cannot detect the cycle length very well and will often incorrectly prepare the wave.

This is unreal! great tutorial thanks mate. I'm having an issue where the audio clip won't load into the Vital wavetable even after I've consolidated it. Any idea as to why?

hard sync is one of my favorite synthesis method and these days nothing really does it in the way i want it to, I even built a M4L device for custom hard sync 😅 but anyways, I’ve been using kick2 for waveforms for a year or so, but this technique allows us to hear the result before we commit to audio! which makes it way more viable! :D

@@MuteProduction I don't have kick 2 but I'd love to work with waves like that. Maybe a m4l device could be cool here. I've not worked with m4l but I'd imagine you could combine the arp with millisecond and a simple wave builder into one device... BTW you don't need a tuner... just take the frequency of the key you want (pages.mtu.edu/~suits/notefreqs.html) then do 1000 / freq to get the time in milliseconds for one cycle...

indeed i have a device in the works for this :) and yes you can do the maths but i just did it with a tuner to make it easier for the tutorial, usually i use an m4l device i made for this that key tracks :D

@@MuteProduction Speaking of hard sync, I realised it's potential when bought my DSI Mofo and made that classic hardsync sweep for the first time, since it's the base of most of the sounds I made with that synthesizer ))

@@DataBroth i spoke to the developer back when it was in beta and he said he it would not be possible to port it in the future so i actually installed it on my gf’s laptop purely to try it out haha, but yeah if it came to mac i’d buy it!
