Wow, thanks. I really needed to hear this today. My goal is to do this full-time, I believe I'm putting out good content that helps people but honestly the doubts get pretty strong every so often. Whenever I get an outside perspective, like yours, it helps a ton.
this is very good advice. I won't recommend most plug ins as they're usually just redressed versions of what's already in the full version of Logic/Ableton. Shaperbox and Kickstart are so tactile though I can't recommend them more. I know they're basically just sidechains, filters, gates etc but their interactive controls are just brilliant.
I totally agree with you about Shaperbox and Kickstart. They make it so easy to bring ideas to life. Shaperbox will probably always be in my top 5 plugins you should pay for.
Right on! So where the kick ends is where you want to move colored region to give you the cleanest pumping action? Is that right? Also do you ever have any problems with clicks? Thank you!
That's exactly right. Once you try it you'll quickly get it. And no problems with clicks either. And if you do get one you can adjust the LFO to get rid of them! Thanks for watching!
Good question, on Kickstart 2 to isolate the kick in a drum loop, you would use the band filter down in the bottom left corner. You would drag down that node until kickstart is just picking up the kick in the drum loop. If you want even more precision, then I would check out Volumeshaper from Cableguys, or even get the entire shaperbox bundle. It's one of my favorite plugins ever.
Hmmmm indeed, that yellow waveform shows up whenever you have a sidechain signal coming through kickstart 2. So if there's no sidechain input assigned, you won't see that yellow waveform.
That's a great question. As far as I know Volumeshaper can do everything Kickstart 2 can do, and a bit more. Volumeshaper is one of my favorite plugins, so of course I'm gonna recommend that over Kickstart 2. Here's a video I made about Volumeshaper if you're curious: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BzcErAeGqp4.html The advantage of Kickstart 2 is that I think it's quicker and easier to do the techniques that I showed you, since it's a more streamlined and pared down plugin.
