You know it’s an insane video when a kickstarter to fund a 9/11 physical recreation is not the most insane subject mentioned.

That adoption campaign must've been written by someone that thought they had a great solution to a real problem, but has the empathy of a nuclear warhead. The foster care system is broken, but this campaign is not the way to fix it, for sure.

The worst part of the Daniel Perez video isn't even the children screaming, it's when they go silent and start quietly sobbing in fear of him after he tells them they better shut the f up. Absolutely heartbreaking.

A plane and a skyscraper for 1.5M dollars? Like... Keep it realistic at least. That won't cover either.

I personally feel sorry for Jonny and don't even blame him for going along with the scam. The man was homeless and was being presented with the promise of a home and a possible job. I think anyone in his situation would have told whatever lie they were given if it got them off the streets.

I WOULD say never attribute to malice what could be attributed to stupidity, but the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

God. The Daniel Perez one started out like in a hilarious way given he tried to make some crowdfunding games with copyright infringement only for it to take an incredibly dark turn about the man’s incredibly dark and insane history. I didn’t expect that at all.

Could've bought Johnny a house for $150,000 used $50,000 for his rehab, $20,000 to get him a good car, remodel the house, fully fit it out, good wardrobe etc and then inflated all the values and kept over $100k for themselves. Yes, it would've still been scammy, but a hell of a lot better than what actually happened.

i just arrived at my neighbor's house to help out and hang out when he answered the door GLUED to his TV, and I looked over and asked, "What movie are you watching?" literally as the 2nd plane collided. He didnt even look away as he said, "this isnt a movie. its happening right now."

With the 9/11 thing you mention it would be hard to find a matching building but miss out a huge other issue. Where is there a building anywhere even remotely appropriately sized for this test that is far enough from civilization that it would be safe to crash an airplane into it? This isn't a controlled building demolition where you just have to clear out the surrounding block or two. You would need it to be miles away from anyone or any building to avoid collateral damage.

I'm glad the three stooges got what was coming to them, but I think Kate got a better deal. She willingly took part in the scam and the lavish lifestyle but when all hell broke loose she set up her boyfriend to take the fall and came up with sob story on TV. I think she should get around the same amount of punishment honestly, regardless of the plea deal. I'm hoping her life after prison is enough punishment to make up for it.

Kickscammers is one of those few shows that's good enough that even when I realize a new release is a clip show, I'm not disappointed and enjoy the ride.

The Daniel Perez one was insane. I remember when he made his first post on r/boardgames about his idea for that horrible GoT card game, he didn't get much help other than being told he'd never get the license to it. And then things turned dark....

It's one thing that Tinder even adopts this "Swipe Left, Swipe Right" ideology to adults, but to do that to a kid or baby? "nah, too lightskinned. eh, too dark. too needy..." Wtf is wrong with humanity nowadays? :')

The adoption one is truly terrible As it Makes actual orphans and actual good modern adoptive patents look like a total joke Honestly disgusted by all of these kickstarters as they really tell a lot about people.

That adoption app feels like it came straight out of Modern Family Guy.

I still remember 9/11, I was in 9th math class. My teacher had just pulled up the tv to watch the news after the first plane hit. Not even like 3 minutes later the second plane hit.

Johnny got really screwed over in all this. He was offered an out to his hell life from some "friends", took it, then had it taken away from him and got punished for it. He shouldn't be punished for being accessory to a crime from a set of laws that let what happened to him beforehand be legal. (Homelessness in America has no justification outside of greed, he was just playing the game they forced him to.) Hope he gets clean and is still able to rebuild some kinda life. (Though, 15 years is honestly real harsh for a different kind of addict to get too. Obviously he and Kate still did a lot wrong and deserve some punishment, but that's half his god damn life up until now right there.) (Honestly that story is just a microcausm of so many of the problems with the united states society.)

Oof to the 9/11 one...and $1.5 million isn't even close anyways to recreating all the things in that scenario (where the hell are you getting the building? What building of that size are you finding in an area that will ensure it doesn't hurt other people? You're also neither buying nor building one for that amount. She faked a funeral for him...that is greed beyond greed to really look at your baby boy and conceptualize their funeral for the sake of milking more money out of people. To Daniel Perez, beating and screaming at his children and the wife aiding in the horrible scams, I hope neither ever see those children again as well until they're adults and they only see their parents to give them the finger. I remember Philip DeFranco playing the audio briefly when it happened and...ugh. That was just sick. For the third time, I ask, what the fucking hell is wrong with people? And to the last story, while it does seem Kate was being abused by her boyfriend (it sound like he became physical with her in that chilling audio), which makes him a foul piece of shit, she was no saint either and those flippant text messages detailing about how she's going to tell this and that lie makes her a terrible person as well, and she had zero room to snap at her boyfriend like he made her do it. Oh really? He made you buy those purses? The expensive trips? Go on multiple talk shows? Buy that BMW? The fact that she used domestic abuse as some gross excuse for the theft of other people's money is baffling and upsetting. What the fucking hell is wrong with these people? As for Johnny, while stealing is still terribly wrong, at the absolute least he truly was homeless, so a lie of this kind is understandable. It's still a horrible thing to do, but at least I can see a homeless person trying to get themselves together with a stunt like this. With everything just spoken about, Johnny is laughably the least scummy person of the video.

In these recompilation videos, maybe it would be a good idea to put a subtitle under each entry with the title/upload date of the video each segment originally appeared. That would make lines like "to end this video" (15:48) feel not as strange.

The thing about the 9/11 incident is we kinda knew what would happen. The buildings were designed to withstand the then-largest plane in service at the time they were being built. The planes that did hit the towers were larger than this and thus the damage was too much for the building to withstand.

The Pay it Forward one got me. I bought it hook line and sinker. I didn't donate, thankfully, but I would have. And then the cracks started to appear. By the end, I was so disappointed with humanity.

The thing is usually mental illness and 0 stable support system is a large reason behind someone's homelessness so buying them a house and car, then trying to find them a job is like boarding a life raft loaded with holes. It might float for a second but then what.

on the 9/11 redux, there is no way they could afford to purchase the plane for the crash test and that's before you get into the costs of rigging the plane for the test and hiring the chase plane and crews for both planes. Throw in the cost of the building and clean up after the test and your looking at upward of half a billion dollars not that i think the FAA would ever permit such a test.

It's kind of bullshit that the girl who got to spend the cash and live the life was able to plea and blame it all on her ex. Even if it was his idea she went along with it and also benefitted from it so she should be punished accordingly. Such bullshit

Ah yes, just what everyone whats to know when being sold an idea, that it is "technically feasible", not that the person selling the idea can do it, just that it is technically possible that somebody could. related to that, you know when someone says "12 tubes of blood" they are trying to emotionally manipulate you, '12 tubes' sounds a lot worse than '12 blood tests'

TBH I am a bit surprised that the homeless guy in this story wasnt murdered because of how big of a liability he was to them.

The other problem with 9-11 redux, 1.5 million is not even close to enough to get anywhere near accurate. Off hand the Boeing 757 out of the box would be like a million dollars alone, and my guess is the radio control would be far more sophisticated that a RadioShack kit and therefore significantly more expensive. Also, the furniture and what not in the offices probably costs at least 2 million at thrift store and garage sale prices. You're probably looking at 15+ million if you wanted to do that right and not breed more conspiracies.

Saw the second one hit live too. Had just walked back from shops with my mother and my father asked to put the TV on to see if cricket was showing. Saw the news running, wondered wtf was this and then bam, live number two strikes. We all thought it was a film because it didn't seem possible

As if $1.5 million would be enough to acquire a 767 and drone it up, never mind getting a building and another aircraft to follow it. Then there’s the slightly less obvious problem of his assertion that pilots could parachute out of a 767 at cruising altitude.

Adoptly was a prank to see how much they could get, apparently they had intended on ending the campaign early and refunding the backers, but it was suspended first.

I speak to this as a non north american, to this day you will find people my age that remember either seeing the 9/11 events live or being around in person, it's a traumatic fracture that lead to a lot of things happen, good and god awfull, wanting to recreate that in the real world again is way further beyond evil and tasteless

1.5 million is not even 1/10th the price of ONE 767 engine. Let alone the entire plane. Let alone the airgas. Let alone buying a building. Let alone buying all surrounding buildings that will be set on fire. Let alone the cleanup cost. Let alone the SECOND plane you need. Let alone the cost of the remote control systems and lastly, the crew. Absolutely laughable. For reference, a 767 costs 185 million minimum. Two of them would be double that (I doubt you can RENT a 767...). A tower half the mass of the WTC would cost 450-600 million dollars. As said, you would need to buy all the surrounding property unless you want to go to Gitmo for, you know, being a terrorist and raining glass/fire on active populated buildings. You would need to buy all buildings in a several block radius, costing anywhere from 800 million to 2 billion dollars depending on location. Then the cost of two sets of trained pilots willing to do this ridiculous stunt, one of which is willing to jump out of the 767 via the emergency escape (which has has a looooow chance of survival). Minimum you're looking at 2-3 million for hazard pay alone, as well as the crew necessary to fuel and make flight worthy two planes that size. Add to it 50,000 dollars for one load of airgas, times two, and a complicated remote control system at 500k. But yeah I'm sure 1.5 million will cover it. Why use advanced FEA tools when we can destroy perfectly good buildings?

As an avid board-gamer, I remember the Perez crap like it was yesterday. Just insane. Another terrible thing, that was 100% NOT the company's fault (Their Kickstarter was actually pretty great) was what happened with Shaun Varsos of Van Ryder games, though the situation had nothing to do with scamming.

A few little lies opened the gate for greed. Also, Kate got off easy.
