Great tips- thanks! When you have to replace it though, grab a Defender CA6150 or the one level higher unit (LL6170- detects and alarms down to 5ppm.) Both are better The 6150 detects down to 10 ppm (alarms at 30) vs 30 on the Kidde. That is actually a huge difference. Not sure it has peak level though. That would be handy to check if say you were away for a week. Why Kidde shows 0 when it only reads down to 30? Could be at 29 and it would say "0" right?

@@UTAH100Thanks, I will check. I saw on on Kidde readings of 15, 17 19 in memory, but it never triggered alarm on such low numbers. It detected it though. Not sure what is the lowest number that will register. It may be 15, I newer saw numbers under 15.

@@sonjabrajkina3995 Thanks- interesting. Does it only store one number in Peak history at a time, then you clear and see others later? It does not alarm because those are spot numbers/events. To do harm, CO needs time and volume. A car at a traffic light for 20 seconds is not dangerous. That car, in a garage where you are working, for an hour is very dangerous. So if you are sleeping as an example, you won't be woken up with a brief event/alarm but if it is a real issue, you should hear an alarm. I think they should alarm sooner then they do and have adjustability. When in doubt though- manually checking the device is the best way.

@@UTAH100Only one number, I guess the highest in peak history, yes. I reset history after that so I can see if it was some again. Those are really small numbers. Not harmful at all. It's in the bathroom, small space, no windows. It just mean that it was some in between two checks. But nothing to worry. But it shows how good Kidde is. I have 2 of them plus boiler heater built in sensor (my only possible source of CO), so if sensor on boiler fail to turn off boiler it will start to alarm me much before actual accumulation in rest of the apartment. That one time when I had 59 reading, sensor did turned off boiler in a sec, but I feel safer with them. It turned it off so fast that alarm did not start on Kidde, but I can't put lives of my family in "hands" of one sensor.

That likely is to press inside switches to tell the alarm it has batteries or some other tamper sensing.

Or it could be just to help you. Remove the batteries when it's time to change them. If that's what you're talking about. The tabs should be underneath the battery So you can pull on them to get the battery out , maybe not ...

That’s definitely concerning. I’m not sure what the reading should be in the back of a muffler. Would be interesting to research how to properly test these.

@@TechTalkvideo there's another video clip about Kidde CO detector where a guy says anything under 30 isn't going to show. In other words, the device only shows CO level 31 and up. I don't know if that is true or not.

Supposedly these devices are only supposed to alarm after 4 minutes and 15 minutes after levels of 400 ppm

@@shaggydawg5419 That is a lawsuit waiting to happen. It displays 0 when it could be a harmful 29.

If only the manufacture be nice enough to type "carbon monoxide" on the product!
