Today we are going to unbox and review this bargain Kidde Carbon Monoxide alarm.
For those no aware, Carbon monoxide gas is colourless, odourless, tasteless, but is a poisonous gas produced by incomplete burning of carbon-based fuels, including gas, and oil which also includes Diesel fuels.
Carbon-based fuels are safe to use. It is only when the fuel does not burn properly that excess CO is produced, which is poisonous and can be a killer without warning. Levels of CO that do not kill can cause serious harm to health if breathed in over a long period.
The great thing about this alarm, unlike other carbon monoxide alarms, is that it has a visual LED level warning display, and at the same time it is very loud.

great video man - i installed 2 diesel heaters in my home and love them - saving a fortune in gas bills - was looking for an alarm because of the diesel heaters ...... and then you tested yours on a diesel heater - i already got a cheap one but its rubbish as it gives no reading - i tested it the same as you did , putting it next to the exhaust and it didnt even alarm - i need to see the ppm when ever i want to so thanks to your vid i just bought 3 of them- thanks for this vid

How long did you leave the alarm next to the diesel heater exhaust - I just got 3 of these and I did the same as you did but mine did not alarm - i put them beside the exhaust , in front of it and nothing - no alarm , no reading - just 000. Then i got a plastic bag , put 2 of the alarms in the bag , held the bag over the exhaust ( before it got too hot ) , completely replaced all the air in the bag with the exhaust gas, waited and waited and it still didnt alarm

Good video again John, we just put one in our van as it didn’t have one, we also but a smoke detector in as well, but like all vans that goes off very easy. Or the wife cooking is not that good😂😂😂

Hi. I don't suppose you know if the display on these shows low concentrations of CO? I have an old "no name" CO alarm that gives a true reading, but I bought a replacement the other day, made by a company called "Mercury", and that thing's setup to displays 0 PPM until the CO level hits 25 PPM (!?!?!). Above that it displays correctly., but until then I remains saying zero. As I use paraffin heaters, and like to keep the CO level in single digit figures at home, that meant that this unit was completely useless for me, so I'm wondering if this Kidde K5DC0 unit gives a real reading all the way from zero?
