Her parodies of classic movies is what made me interested in old movies. I have seen so many of them that I finally decided to watch the originals. Mildred Fierce was her parody of Mildred Pierce. Carol Burnett is such a talented woman

Carol Burnett is an American treasure, icon, trail blazer. The first woman to headline her own prime time variety hour tv show. Long before French and Saunders came along-carol was the queen of parodies.

Carol was a character, for sure. Her 'Gone with the wind/Tara' sketch is my favorite. I grew up watching the show with my parents. LOL Good family fun.

"Went With the Wind" parody had me on the floor laughing. Make sure you are familiar with the original Gone With the Wind movie before watching it and you'll totally get Carol's version. Hysterical.

Carol Burnett is in the series Palm Royale on Apple TV and she is 91. She is truly amazing, Canadian here and I grew up with the Carol Burnett show. My whole family loves her.

Thanks for doing more Carol Burnett Show!! In the Elephant Sketch Carol played the daughter Eunice who was next to Tim Conway. That entire sketch is worth a revisit. I've seen it so many times and I laugh hard every timeà😂 This one is good too. Another great one is a parody of Gone With the Wind called Went With the Wind.😅

Growing up in the 70s we needed comedy. Country was in recession. Being on a Sunday everyone dreaded the start of the work or school week looming on the Monday, but Carol Burnette made all of that anxiety totally melt away. Shame we don't have anything like that now.

You can find all sorts of skits like this all over the place and yet when they cancelled the variety shows in the late 60’s or early 70’s the reason given was because no one was interested in that kind of stuff anymore. Another very funny comedian from that time, Red Skeleton, was cancelled so abruptly that he decided if nobody was interested in watching the show when he died his collection of shows would be destroyed. He was a truly amazing actor who started in vaudeville but because he controlled most of his material, there isn’t a lot of his stuff out there anymore. I still remember sunday evening we would watch Red Skeleton then Carol Burnett and the opening sequence of Jackie Gleason and then we would have to get ready for evening church.

Great reaction! My favourite sketch of theirs is called "Sorry!". Eunice (Carol Burnett), her mother (Vicki Lawrence), and Eunice's husband Ed (Harvey Korman) try to have a fun evening playing the board game Sorry! It hits my funny bone. :)

The Rat Race Went With The Wind The Walnuts=Vincent Price is in that one. Sorry; The Family A Dog's Life-Tim gets injected with a dog serum. The Interrogater As The Stomach Turns-The one when Tim Conway is the oldest insurance man & climbs into the picture of the barn on the wall! Mother Marcus-Harvey Korman, this is the first time Carol sees him dressed as Mother Marcus. Vicki is Marian's thought to be dead daughter, (who Tim is looking for😂), returned as Jaimee, with bionics, (Bionic woman). Someone help me with the name of this one.😂 Can't remember the name but everything that Carol tries to open, (after returning home from grocery shopping), gives her "To Open" directions because she can't open it! Too many to name from this legendary show! All the movie parodies that they did were priceless! Carol playing Stella, the oldest woman with horn rimmed glasses! Omyheart! Hilarious! Carol, as Stella and Ruth Buzzy in the audience? Who remembers? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 What about when she plays snow white...😂😂😂😂

Check out Went with the Wind parody, from the Carol Burnett Show. And as the stomach turns. There is also a parody of The African Queen. There are so many. The show started in 1967 the year I was born. Ended in 1977. Where I'm from it came on Saturday nights at 10. Check out Carol Burnett Tarzan yell!

Gone With the Wind is the best. Her costume designer Bob Mackey is the best. What he can do with his mind and some cloth is incredible. You must watch this one. I know a lot of people said it. I wanted to say it too. Unbelievably hilarious!

They would record the full dress rehearsal in front of a live audience. Once they had it on film as a back up, they could improv. Taping day episode was always bonkers.

This skit was brilliant. Other than just being funny, it demonstrated the corrosive nature of exposure to celebrity for the wrong reasons and how the trigger of possible fame can turn normal people into phonies who are removed emotionally from human experience due to the shallowness and selfishness of the exercise. Leave it to Carol and that wonderful show. The humor was always based on real human psychology and experience. Fabulous.

I'd love to see your reaction to the All in the Family series, especially the episodes with Archie Bunker and George Jefferson. During its day, thee show made people laugh at the absurdity of racism by showing two extremes in a comedic way.

Of course, "All in the Family" was an American adaptation of a British classic, "Til Death Us Do Part," just as "Sanford and Son" was an adaptation of "Steptoe and Son" and "Three's Company" an adaptation of "Man About the House." It would be interesting to do a comparison of the American and British versions.
