My whitecoat hypertension is incredible. 170/90 at the doctor's office, 130-120/80-90 at home. 65yo, fatty liver, part-time night shift RN, Single kidney, Cr, 1.5. on BP meds here. Thanks for this info. It's is so helpful especially for the dietary restrictions and recommendations for the kidney!

Since all that i self prepare all foods WFPB NO Oil sugar or anything but dates or real maple syrup, oddly like in marimara? No sugar needed, just a tiny pinch of baking soda, reduces acidity & afds a slight sweetness!. Now I eat according to my most recent labs, my sodium levels crazy low for years , last lab at 124. When bottom of range is 134.

We have a whole episode on blood sodium levels that you can check out. You should definitely discuss that low sodium with your doctor. If you are cooking absolutely everything from home and from scratch, it may be beneficial to log your food intake for a day in an app like cronometer.com to see where you are falling. A low sodium diet is generally up to 1500-2000 mg sodium/day with a minimum lower limit of ~500 mg/day.

I didnt get to watch you live. Perhaps you would answer a quick simple question for me. I have had a k transplant for 11 years. I have been told to eat small portions of meat. Lately I don't desire meat and almost never eat it. Is this bad or rather a better thing to care for my transplant? I definitey never ate chicken, turkey or organs and lately can no longer eat eggs. I like all veggies but rarely have a piece of steak or ground beef, maybe twice a month only. Many thanks.

You definitely don't need to eat meat or animal protein post transplant. You want to eat according to your labs and the kidney function of your transplanted kidney and eating a plant predominant diet is definitely beneficial to keep the new kidney healthy. If you are not consuming meat then including plant proteins that help meet your protein needs would be the route to go. Legumes, organic soy (tofu, tempeh, edamame), nuts and seeds would all be options.
