Danielle was diagnosed with diabetes when she was 5. When she was 11, she experienced kidney failure. At that time, she did not know that it would be a kidney transplant and pancreas transplant at the same time. She then looked for the best hospital and found Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
She reflects on the day that she got the call about her transplant organ being ready.
After the surgery, she was not diabetic any longer and her blood sugar levels returned to normal. She is now able to live her life normally.
