Great video, love your work! But one minor point on the kidney anatomy... Specifically the nephron and renal pyramids (medulla). It is more accurate to say that the nephrons lie in both the cortex (glomeruli, PCT, DCT + portions of LoH and CD) and medulla (rest of LoH and CD) of the kidney... As the renal pyramids only contain a subset of nephron segments. Other than that beautiful video which I'll be using in my teaching on the gross anatomy of the kidney. Thanks a million Keith (renal physiologist)

Hi there, just enquiring if you have a film on the kidney function after a nephrectomy. I had a nephrectomy 3 years ago and I sometimes get pain within the area where the kidney has been removed, going by your film its more towards the IVC and DA area. Talking to others who have also had a nephrectomy a phantom pain is quite common amongst us. But I would like to know whats happening. Thankyou was a simple and educational film.

11:50 So it's my understanding that the Renal Pyramids do not contain the majority of nephrons. Cortical Nephrons (i.e. cortex) make up 85% of nephrons, the other 15% are juxtamadulary nephrons that are located near the madulary pyramids. Both have their loops of henle that go down into the pyramids. The loops of Henle and the collecting ducts are in the pyramids and they drain down to the minor calyx.
