@@lily-sw3dv three years ago, this song would have been quite devastating to listen to. Shows I've grown since that breakup. Those kids are still so pure.
Wow, the dynamics range they hit. I can imagine how hard the Korean music industry must have been, seeing these mature women still maintain these performance. Very impressive.
this group has been around for over 20 years and we’re originally signed with one of the biggest labels in kpop. it was definitely easier back then as there was less focus on visual in the late 90s
@@lwoklidfr It's really sad how much things have changed for kpop, it's music so visuals shouldn't matter at all. But now, that's all that most companies care about. It should be about talent, skilled vocalists, skilled rappers, and live performances.
@@Inth3V0id even in my country you will be shock that all the talented singers we have are all working their ass just to have a gig no matter how small the event is, because they're not getting too much attention because of their looks while the artist who are bless with their looks can have it easy by having singles or albums even though their voice sounds like a dead tone🤦♂️ in the past talented singers without looks are really appreciated with their telents, but these days🤷♂️
I was so happy hearing that the first YG Girl group reunited. These woman can bring a color to music that we haven’t seen in a while. Their vocals are incredible and I’m so happy for them to be singing again. And happy that a new generation of listeners get to know them. I wishing them nothing but the best! Big Mama fighting!
@@mauve2483 oh no! Don’t quote me on that, but if we talking about the way we know GG today this one might go to Baby V.O.X by DR Music they debuted a couple of months before S.E.S by SM in 1997 (love them both tho made great music you should check them out. I found myself liking Baby V.O.X way more when I was younger, but nowadays I tend to gravitate to S.E.S)
No doubt about their singing talent but can we just appreciate how they gave a LIVE back to back for 3 different kids 3 different times with the same energy..............
These kids are freakin fortunate. It'd be a dream come true to experience something like this from your fav vocalists. Man that would be the experience of a lifetime. Just imagining it is already giving me goosebumps.
Can we appreciate how incredible noise-cancelling headphones have become, for these kids to not realize that people are singing at full blast several feet away from them?
Noise cancelling headphones aren't good for tuning out voices. They're mostly for low frequency noises like cars, buses, planes etc. The reason they're not aware of the singers is probably the volume got turned up really high on the headphones with some slight ANC.
@@smug3791 actually, i have the headphones they are wearing. They are absolutely amazing when it comes to noise-cancelling. Of course, it would still not filter out everything, but I’m pretty sure that it helped a lot
@@smug3791 I am pretty sure that there is also something called passive noise cancelling where the headphone's physical design is responsible for. The ear pads that block out the sound vibrations for example.
Your voice actually gets better as you age when you take care of it. Idols and pop singers are bad examples because they usually don't sing with healthy technique.
@@scarletthuang4251 Overuse isn't taking care of your voice. She probably sang a lot and even with good technique your voice will get tired. So Hyang, a famous Korean singer known for her virtually perfect vocal technique is know for taking a month between performances to maintain consistency and health. But the reason why I say that as you age your voice gets better is because that's exactly how it is for opera singers and why most of them are older. The spend years training their voice and learning technique but your voice really peaks, from what I remember, in your 40s, not in your 20s. Your example, you literally say her voice was damaged from overuse. That's not aging. That overuse. Your vocal cords are really thin and small. They're delicate muscles and they can easily get damaged from overuse even with proper training and technique.
As a non-korean, listening to a mellow korean song hits different. Despite not knowing korean, and the emotions they carry was not what i expected. Lmk the song name ") Edit: I've been listening to the song the whole day. I cant tell the live and studio version it has the same vibe. I love it!
Bless the child who couldn't find it within herself to appreciate a song about heartbreak because she's never had her heart broken. For some reason that makes me want to cry as much as the song does.
They're too young to understand the lyrics. That one girl was right, it's a song for 20-30 year-old girls. This song's amazing, I'm in my 28 and I cried
@@whosnico4669 yup, I cry during songs that hit different in my heart like "Heartbreak Anniversary". I'm trying to learn Korean so I can understand songs even k drama even tho whole culture...South Korea has a special place in my " young heart."
goosebumps everywhere. these singers are so underrated. please bring them back to spotlight. they seriously deserve it! love your singing, they come with so much passion i cried
If i m not mistaken, the CEO of mamamoo himself said that he created mamamoo because of big Mama (but i forgot whethear its from the ceo itself or mamamoo's member talk this)
People wonder why I listen to music in a language I don't understand and they think it's weird. But music is a language we can all understand. This was insane and y'all just gained another stan
Exactly, their voices the strength in their words you can tell even without the subtitles. Kudos to them and your words. I listen to songs in korean, French, English and whatever language you name it and what a pleasure do they bring joy into my life (my mother tongue is Arabic)
So many people can sing these days, but not all of them can leave remarkable impressions like in this video. The characters of their voice and their skills are really good.
If I was a sound director or sound engineer that was hired to do the mixing and editing for Big Mama, I'd have the easiest job in the world. I wouldn't even have to do anything other than hit 'record', let them do the singing, hit 'stop', and call it a day. Because that's final product quality right off the bat.
lmao the audio you’re hearing is already mixed and stuff. the kids heard the raw but you can tell it’s got compression and melodyne on their voices (no hate lmao just thought you shohld know, and i agree they are AMAZING singers)
Awesome right? She’s got to be a music lover. I bet Big Mama were super happy to have someone from a whole new generation of audience appreciate and connect their style to a whole new song.
@@toericabaker Or it's just their opinion and age typically comes with more experience and that's just a plain fact. It's not that deep, Erica.Stop being so chronically online that you have to jump at the chance to call someone a 'pick me'.
I’m so surprised they still sing this good after taking a break it was so beautiful 😭😭😭 also thumbnail looks like a unicorn video. I’m gonna start listening to their music now!
Jeez, right? i have been singing since i was little and i am able to belt if i want to, but i dont have privacy so i dont sing this high. obviously my voice has become a little unstable since then whenever i sing out of my comfort zone. but id really love to sing like them one day
yea you can hear the tuning they used in post, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t FANTASTIC singers. everyone uses auto tune these days but it’s not a bad thing!!
@TheButtonMash3r Yeah, especially at first minutes its definitely autotune. You can hear robotic voice, its correcting missing note. However, this song make me cry.
I listened this live from time to time. They brought me tears every single time, even I dont understand the phrase or turn the caption on. Their skill, their vibe, their tone are gold. I wish Big Mama to keep create the songs forever.
truly mesmerizing how singers havent lost their charms and charisma even after their era had pass, and younger idols rising in fame. this is why i love, admire and respect older era singers. their ability to perform hasnt lost in time. haaa im missing legendary singers from older times.....
Even though I'm not Korean, I felt and believed EVERY single word they sang out of their mouths. Incredibly emotional performance and truly authentic. This hit me hard.
@@shinchan7786 the younger girl in the video said she can’t relate to the song cause she hasn’t had a breakup but even without the experience, you can still feel the emotion in the song.
I say many have the ability to do more but it's just their concepts that hinder them. And this genre is not that mainstream anymore nor has that "pop-y" sound.
The 1.1 thousand people that disliked this are uncultured swine. Good singing is good singing, and they are tremendously skilled. I hate the genre, but I won't deny talent.
I mean it's all subjective, they're skilled but people are allowed to like/dislike voices/techniques/songs etc even if they're super good from a technical point of view. I personally loved all about this, but some people probably hated all about it and that's perfectly fine too
@@dv3083 i hate this type of music, was my entire point. That doesn't mean I'm going to hinder their progress. It's 2021. We should all be more aware of the power our thumbs up holds over other peoples' lives. They are talented, and I can recognize that. I'll hand them what help I can. We //are// the algorithm.
@@grimmalkinn9760 yeah like I don’t listen to this type of music either, but their voices and harmonization are so powerful it made be cry and I can’t even relate to the song because I’ve never been in a relationship even though I am of older age. Still that just goes to show how outstanding this performance was.
Number 1-4 From left to right 1. Such good opening, this woman put us to the situation what happened to the song very good, she drag you to the story. AND not least she also sing the last part which is sounds like the last tears (end of the anger and emotion) 2. 2nd woman from left has such a unique voice this enhance the song or the group so much, the unique voice she has make the group not monotone and so entertaining ( Sorry i love her voice so much T.T). Without her this groups like a diamond but not be polished 3. Killer. That's it. Her power-highnote just represent our feel about this song. 4. She successfuly change the mood of the song from sad to angry, she control the dynamic of the song very well. She bring us to 2nd episode of the story which u cannot hold sadness anymore, all left is anger. But the best part when they were doing harmonization, my ear blesse!!!!!!!!!
The difference in tones is so important here because it tells how each woman individually would feel through a breakup. Ranging from belting high notes to stable wistful low tones and harmonizing into a heartbreaking song. Super beautiful!
For those who don’t know Big Mama debuted under YGE and they were the first female group ever to debut under the company. There was one more called SweeT or something but Big Mama was more popular because they sang R&B and ballads. People called 2ne1 the first female group for YGE but they were actually the third and Blackpink is the Fourth. As soon as they sang I recognized their voices but they look so different, glad to see they still sing.
The feeling you experienced is the feeling where you want to be in a romantic relationship but the realization you are not, or that you can't be in one. And that's equally sad.
I felt like Big Mama are Mamamoo's god mothers , But what you said now made me tear up so badly . Just the imagination of future Mamamoo is making me tear up . I'll forever be a moomoo .Stay happy and happy - with lots of love fellow moomoo 💕💕
