The ant bait is housed in two-color bait stations that discreetly blends in with your home décor. A multi-surface design allows you to lay the bait stations flat or adhere to vertical surfaces. Adhesive strips keep the stations securely in place on walls and countertops, under cabinets and along baseboards.
How TERRO Ant Baits Work
Ants are attracted to the sweet liquid ant bait inside the bait stations. After finding the bait, the ants consume it and transport it back to the nest to share with the rest of the colony. As they do so, the ants leave behind a pheromone trail which lets other worker ants know where the newly discovered food source is. The ants follow the trail to the bait - this explains why you will initially see more ants when using TERRO liquid ant baits.
After consuming the bait, the active ingredient slowly interferes with the ant’s digestive system, eventually killing it. This slow kill leaves enough time for foraging ants to make multiple trips to the bait, each time returning to the nest to deliver a deadly dose to the rest of the colony.

SOMEONE from TERRO, read this! Just bought this and am here because the tab was so hard to break off I wanted to make sure I was following the directions correctly. Looks like I was, but will just cut the tab off because it sure as hell doesn't break off as easily as it does on this video. Hopefully, the product will do the job. MAKE THE TAB EASIER TO BREAK OFF (Like your guy did in the video)...

I had one heck of a time peeling off the paper from the two sided sticky squares. Not enough stick after fighting with it! Poorly designed and I feel Terro should give a few extra squares for the ones us strugglers ruined trying to figure it out!

Literally the same issue. Can NOT break the tab. AND it gives NO warning they shouldn't lay flat like any other intuitive product would..... Please do better. These aren't cheap!!

Terro, dial back the music, fix the break off tabs to make them easier to break off, and have a clean cut. Once I got them to twist off, I’m not sure if the ants will make get inside. The opening is still jagged.

Impossible to open, difficult with scissors because of the angle and small size After cutting the rough edges will probably impale the ants.Should have read the reviews and I would have bought another product.

Obviously there was no consumer testing on this product. If there had been, you would heard that the tab is too hard to break off. Needs modifications. Probably wouldn’t buy again

How the frick are you supposed to stick the adhesive to the trap WHEN ONLY ONE SIDE OF THE ADHESIVE IS REMOVABLE. This was absolutely the most frustrating experience I’ve ever had with a product. Worst invention EVER. Edit: I had to use needle nose tweezers to get the adhesive off of the white side. Horrible, horrible, horrible design.

This product has two serious design flaws that need to be fixed before I would ever buy this product again: (1) But for a production lot that might have behaved differently than mine, there is no way even a reasonably strong male can "...break off the bait tab..." Scissors are required, and even those don't provide a clean opening to the liquid bait; and (2) One side of the double-sided adhesive tab peels right off. But one side is almost impossible to peel off. Again scissors were required to get the peeling started.

Great design. But tabs are to hard to open. I ended up cutting the tab off with a kitchen pairing knife to open. Would be great if you made the tabs easier to open. Not to mention, make the cases to open and add refills instead of having to buy all new bait stations.

I came to see how they got the white side adhesive off because according to the instructions “only printed side of adhesive is removable” which makes no sense. And of course the video completely skips that part!

If you read the box, it states that the side with print is the side that is safe to put on the wall.

The plastic tab is as hard to open as the adhesive is WEAK. I propped it up with painters tape.

Tab too hard to break off. That's why on I'm on this site for instructions. So I cut it off - it spilled (luckily I read the part about be careful of liquid bait). Now I just hope the ants go away.

Terrible design! The tab is hard to snap off, and when you do, liquid flies out everywhere, even when holding it vertically up! Also, when you mount it horizontally, liquid comes out! And when you mount it vertically, the little black ants simply do not 'discover' the liquid, since in my case, they never crawl up the sides of the bait unit! I've also used your liquid ant killer (comes in a small bottle), and that works well, but the liquid hardens too quickly. I'm under the impression that the ants can only ingest the liquid, not the hardened form.

The cabs are not a minor with break off either, had to cut them... Furthermore could not figure out how to use the freaking adhesive strips seeing as only one side peeled off..

Wow. The top does NOT just twist off. I’ll have to cut it and hope that I don’t spill it. Not impressed so far. $10 for four tiny traps. They had better work!

Not impressed by the design. All those holes in the bait structure but only whatever hole is actually torn in the pouch is what the ants have to find. Looks like this things was designed to attract customers more than ants.

Inspired me to return them to home depot, and just buy some borax powder and sprinkle along the very edge of the baseboard. Worked fine, and was cheaper. Just vacuumed up the dead ants. Within two weeks, no more ants, so I suppose some brought the borax back to the nests.

The tape is supposed to be single-sided, why on earth would anyone want the sticky part on both sides? If you're going to stick it to a baseboard, just make sure the surface is dust free first.

Hi to anybody in the future reading the comments. If you are like me, you had trouble twisting off the strip caps or w/e their called at the end, then RU-vidd a solution. Id recommend what everybody below said and use scissors or something. Whenever I successfully twisted them off (After multiple attempts), it didnt twist off neatly to make a nice hole at all. I had to use my finger nails to pry open the closed up entrance to actually make a hole. So please use scissors or something. Thing pissed me off

How do you get single sided tape to work on 2 sides? One side clearly said Removable side only... So how does it "stick" to the trap and wall???

Ok after looking at it closely, both sides are actually removable. Need very fine nails. The unlabeled side sticks to the product.

The removable side goes on the wall. The permanent side goes on the trap when you throw away the trap the tape goes in the trash with the trap.

I can honestly say that I've used these ant baits stuck under my kitchen cabinets for a few years, they work. I had an ant invasion in my kitchen and these little bait traps are perfect, they can be stuck out of sight under or inside any cabinet. Of course, I wouldn't put on in a cabinet that contains any food products. I had the same original bait traps for 3 years, and they kept working, The adhesive finally began to weaken, and they would start falling off. I just applied 4 new ones under the kitchen upper cabinets. I think it's a great product, and you don't have to touch any poison with bare hands - ever! I have read a couple of reviews that said they couldn't twist off the cap. Duh, if you can't, that's what a pair of scissors is for. I never had any problem twisting it off.

Dear Terro. I'm 6'4" 250lbs . I could not, no way, no how remove the plastic tab. I had to cut it. There is no way my 90 y.o. mother, who in great shape physically and mentally, could tear that tab either. Please add the sentence " It's ok to cut tab if does not tear easily"

I must agree with most of the comments. This design is completely useless and way too expensive to find out that it is. I have always trusted using Terro and I thought that this would be a less messy and more "decorative" way to eliminate ants. I ended up pouring the contents onto a strip of cardboard and 'then' the ants swarmed all over it. Until then they were just walking by it; not even bothering to climb onto the trap. Save your money and just buy the Terro liquid in the bottle.

Evon O Smith I think because they don’t know the liquid is there. I tried the other Terro ant traps. Could not twist off the tab so I cut it off. The liquid came dripping out. So I placed it on a paper plate to save my counter. Probably the best thing I did, to cut off the tab, because those ants were all gone in one day, the liquid attracted them.

It's great that you have hands like vice grips, but how are the rest of us supposed to twist off the tab that's made of indestructible plastic??? And once I twisted the tab enough that it came off, it sealed itself back up! How are the ants supposed to get the bait????

Unfortunately no thinking I’m going to have to try different traps/another method or just call up pest control to be honest which I kind of don’t want to do because it’s pretty expensive but then again I don’t want to live with ants anymore lol

I have some of these and mine twist off fine. BUT - the other Terro product - the one in the clear bait station that's kind of rectangular - those are by far superior. I've been using them for years and they work exactly as promised. (Twisting off the tab is very easy too.)

The bait that is used in these bait stations is the same formulation used in the clear rectangular ones... the ingredients are no different. I think the rectangular ones are superior simply because the ants seem to be able to get into them easier, the design of these bait stations are kind of wonky.

Been four years and the tab is still stupidly hard to break off. I eventually got it but jfc... also really scummy of you to advetise in giant letters that it works for all common household ants and then have...the most common pest household ants listed as exceptions in fine print below it. Thankfully it looks like my carpentar ants are going for it, anyways, but I was livid to only notice that fine print once I got home.

Why doesn't this video play all the way??? I'm trying to figure out how to apply these to my wall with the adhesive strips that only are sticky on one side!! What type of crap is that??? The none adhesive side won't stay on the trap!!!!!!!

The strips do have two sticky sides. The instructions completely miss the boat. You have to cut to get a square, the first strip comes off easy for the first sticky side, then you have to carefully remove the paper that is covering the second sticky side. I stumbled upon this just before I gave up (and yes, I read the instructions MANY times, and what you have to do is not explained).

I agree with others that the tab is impossible to tear off with my lady hands. But, scissors worked fine. And lots are confused about the adhesive labeling. The adhesive is double sided. The unlabeled side goes on the bait. The labeled side goes on your wall. Both sides must be uncovered so the adhesive is exposed, the wording on the label is just awkward. Stuck one on my wall and the ants are eating it up. Will be glad when they're gone.

THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS! I just bought these and the instructions make it seem like only the printed side is sticky so I was just sitting here for 10 minutes pressing the non sticky side onto the trap and getting frustrated, as the paper tab on the blank side of the adhesive strip clings on much harder so it didn't seem removable, especially after reading their instructions on the box. You're an angel for this.

The design of this is useless. Who did Terro get to design this? The other Terro liquid ant baits are better...but there were none left at HD. We bought 8 but I'm glad I opened only one package and will be taking these back. The liquid works GREAT--so much better than my own Boron recipe. However, this was a bad design. The ants don't like it. Maybe the plastic is too sharp? Because I found an ant carcass on the edge of the plastic where I cut it (and I had to cut it. It would not tear off. When I cut it the liquid spilled out onto my hand and the counter and floor). Ants won't crawl into the trap to retrieve the poison; I ended up tipping a puddle onto the sink counter and they encircled it but I worry about the cat. I will not be buying this design again.

I just received it from Amazon and the tab is not made to snap off need scissors. The small holes around the gadget give the impression that the ants will go thru it😢 let me use it if it doesn't work i will go look for the inventor guy .also looks like i have to duct tape it those gimmicky tapes aren't going to stay firm.

One side is removable - meaning it will not stay on the surface, and you don’t have to fight removing it. That’s the side you want to stick to the wall.

Just issue an apology and remove from market. Use the money to create a BETTER product. I have Cancer and it was quite literally my one errand I had to run, which was a bit of a difficult undertaking for me (to say the least). After looking at all options, like a glutton for punishment, I bought these... Got home, struggling and in pain, but eager to deal with these horrid little ants, and the tabs don't come off, the 'case' doesn't do ANYTHING - ITS GOT ZERO FUNCTION - and altogether a horrible afternoon for someone struggling to do one task.. No product should leave someone feeling this way. Ever.

Amen. I live in an ant prone area. 3-4 times a Summer we get invaded....I will be making sure to tell people NOT to depend on this crap product. You are better off buying a bag of Borax and sprinkling it around your home. Then, Windex....the ultimate ant killer.
