Not really. Either Graham didn't know of some bottom layers of his software programming, or KITT couldn't be fully reprogrammed, because life protection function was hardware programmed. What is interesting, that KITT could recover his original software after life preservation function kicked in. This would suggest he had hidden backup drive and a programme that triggered software recovery after the system detected conflict of orders between new programming and his hardware programme. However, KITT clearly has the ability to learn. Knight Rider isn't very science correct, but I'd imagine the early episodes, basic KITT is mainly hardware programmed but he has ability to create evolving software to become his personality. Which eventually backfired because KITT also developed fear and would later give up easily, like someone who doesn't believe in own abilities.

@@Chris-B. I do think they were. They later went to great efforts to hide the ramp but in these early episodes they didn't do it well enough. It was still just about noticeable back then on a CRT tv screen in it's low resolution format. But not as obvious as it is today.

I didn't notice the side-mounted cameras when I was 6. I noticed them now at 44 😅

@alongbadang5235 they do love each other, but it hard for them to show it. But in one where Bonnie was jealous when she ask micheal who Stevie is. You can tell by the look she gave him and the way she ask him about Stevie.

The only difference was that in Killer KITT, his main program and CPU were completely changed, not just an override.

Ha ha, and she did shoddy work in reprogramming kitt to obey Graham Deauville. All it took was a syntax error and kitt crashed and restarted. And where did bonnie go?

@@resetsetmefree478 I've seen it many times over the last 40 years and that bit always stood out as inconsistent. Maybe the writers were wanting to give them a relationship and the producers later changed this. Don't really know.
