the modern releases of this show do not use the original artists who sung the pop songs in this show in the 80's. some are not even sung by the right gender.
Is there a story behind this or is it just the way they wrote the script I don’t ever recall this but then again I was just a little kid when the show came out but it was my favorite so when I’m watching it over again on Netflix this blew my mind
@@drodriguez3935 Some scenes were filmed as part of a 30min pilot presentation to show to the NBC network. The scene where Michael Long gets shot in the face was one of them. And was actually the Hoff himself with his face hidden in silhouette since Larry Anderson hadn't been cast as Michael Long yet. Anderson was cast after NBC gave them the thumbs up to film the rest of the pilot. Love how they put him in a Hoff style wig lol
One thing I notice with these Pilots that they don't do in a lot of shows and movies now is setting up the backstory in detail of who characters are before they take on the mantle of who they become. I like how they show the kind of character Michael Long has before he becomes Michael Knight.
I Own Every Last Episodes. From The Very Beginning To The Very Last. One Of My Favorite Shows Of All Time. Michael Knight And Kitt The Dynamic Due. ❤❤❤❤
1:36 Pity we never got to see more of Larry Anderson as Michael Long through flashbacks. Like later in the Season 1 episode "White Bird", when Michael Knight has a flashback of Stevie through still photos along with a voice over of her saying "Michael, I love you. Don't ever leave me." Imagine if they'd got Larry Anderson back so Michael Long and Stevie could appear together in actual flashback footage.
Yeah, that would've been more realistic, but I thought of it more as symptoms of the identity crisis within Michael’s mind. I mean, thinking of it more, just waking up someday after being somebody else for so long, you'd start to crack under pressure.
I dunno man. There were a lot of cool movies and tv shows back in the 80's like this. They were very much a thing of their time. All we get these days is neo-feminist crap. Disney star wars, Terminator dark fate, female Ghostbusters. We aren't allowed to have heroic masculine male action heroes anymore. If this show were made today the protagonist would probably be a female and KITT would have a gay voice.
@@Tony-1971Wow, what a horrible attitude. There are more women on earth than men. Are we not allowed role models? The 80s basically had none. Most shows are still centered around men now, but show that a man can be whomever they want. They don't have to be macho. So what's wrong with a female protagonist? Not every show is made for you. I'm a lifelong Terminator fan, and I loved Dark Fate. For me, only the original is better, but Judgment Day is of course brilliant too. Linda Hamilton and Mackenzie Davies were both superb, and Diego Luna played the Rev 9 perfectly. There's still loads of great shows and films out there. Just now there is something for everyone, rather than just straight, cisgender white men. We all need stuff we can identify with.
@@catrionacolville2192 Not horrible at all. They still make movies and tv shows for the female audience just like they did back in the 80's. Its just that today they don't make anything for the male audience. The films that were traditionally aimed at men are now aimed at women. So women still get their own movies today and they also get the movies that were traditionally for the male audience as well. You get Barbie, and you get Star Wars as well. So what do men get? Nothing. Makes no odds if there are more women than men. Men built the world, and they maintain it too. Some of my favourite movies from the 70's and 80's featured female protagonists. Alien, Aliens, The Terminator, Day Of The Dead (1985), Night Of The Living Dead (1990) I love these movies. They also featured 'realistic' female lead characters. Not like the obnoxious, masculine, unrealistic female protagonists woke Hollywood pushes on us today. They want us to believe that we are the same. We aren't. Men and women are very different.
Just noticed one thing Michael Traceur son of Michael Long looks a lot like what Long really looked like before the surgery. Just compare pics of the two. Wow!
A different actor played michael long aka michael night in the pilot for the 1st half an hour or hour then hasselhoff took over. The reason being is long aka knight had a face change or plastic surgery. They changed his identity.
If you notice my picture , I used to work on the original K.I.T.T., after numerous rug rats screwed the inside up after being in it. while it was on display at Universal Studios. There can be only one!! NUFF SAID!!
I’d prefer KITT to not get a makeover but be the original. See how it is now that technology has gotten closer to what KITT can do, and potentially juggle with the fact that KITT is less and less a one of a kind
This is before I was born (I was born in the mid/late 80's). I watched some episodes of Knight Rider in the 90's when I was a child. I also remember the teenage mutant ninja turtles (series)! I also remember the Gremlings movies (seen first in the 90´s as a young child). I also liked this canadian serias (shown in Finnish tv in the 90´s) Are you afraid of the dark . I also love so much of 80's movies like Nightmare on Elmstreet etc. My favorite tv show was Spellbinder: Land of the Dragon Lord (I think it was Australian tv serias).
The way this starts out, makes me realize how much damage Garthe Knight could've done to Michael’s psychological state. It literally starts out in Las Vegas, Nevada. Michael Long was a Vietnam war Veteran, whereas Garthe stole missles in Nevada for another war related cause. (I don't doubt that his mother, Elizabeth, maybe paid manufacturers who sold weaponry in that war, via underground investments) The damn monster's theme song was Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones. It all gives me chills.
This is the pilot episode not episode 1, Deadly Maneuvers on the Collection I have is episode 1 this on disc 7. It's bit annoying and Knight Rider 2000 is in the boxset too the movie, actually it's the Ultimate Collection.
NBC please don't ruin this fan, But hire him! Check out the best Knight Rider animation ever to be made ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CneWXnWi6XI.html&lc=UgwFrF33FmSOXZbNJPt4AaABAg.9A5aIK0uMam9A7goNzXIz7
Just saw the red pontiac band which is visible at the rear of the car when the police stops Mickael Knight. Lol. There are many errors in this pilot too you can notice (the main board not really attached), the wheel, etc etc. However, it's the most wonderful tv serial I've ever seen when I was young. Only great memories and the best show in those years. I hope the movie from Constantin Films will be a great hommage. Don't want to see a sh.... as they dared to do few years ago with a ford mustang and a transformer stuff out of purpose without soul bad FX.
certainly better than the "noob" knutz ridderson. Y2k+ "redon't. this ORIGINAL 1982 show was about the individual not the "team" comprised mostly of loosers, referring to the redux. the family of Devon, and Bonnie were the only support MIchael Knight had and it worked! I love the lone warrior ex vet theme!
The first episode is missing scenes WTF? They cut to Michael running up the stairs and skip the conversation had between the old dudes before Michael runs up the stairs. How do I watch it uncut? Why would NBC do that? So lame.
They are all on nbc streaming packed with 5 or 6 commercials each 10 to 15 mins. After going through on commercial pack I just stopped watching. I’d rather watch from amazon prime if it had it.
If you ever get a chance to acquire it, trust me, STICK TO THE TWO PART SYNDICATED VERSION TITLED "KNIGHT OF THE PHOENIX." It is a very tight and super serious drama that is probably the best episode in the entire series. When I first saw the unedited version that's on the dvds, I couldn't believe it. Nearly EVERY scene that they cut out seemed like deleted scenes of a movie that belonged on the cutting room floor, especially the second time the robbers attempt to steal KITT, it's like something out of The Three Stooges, and all that stuff at the end with the woman visiting Michael in the hospital and Devon and Michael riding around in KITT while he's being towed just don't feel right. And it's not just because I grew up with it, ALL the episodes I grew up with were syndicated, and this one is the ONLY one where I feel the edits actually improved it. It's too bad they accidentally put the syndicated version of Knight of the Drones on the new dvds and blu rays, and not the syndicated version of this one instead.
Honestly, not really. In the pilot, Micheal is basically the bad guy. He is stalking a company CEO and trying to steal a private companies ip. In the process he gets arrested for assaulting people and breaks out of jail by literally destroying the jail. Then he breaks into a private company, assaults the security guards and again tries to steal their property. Gets away, destroys one of their trucks and one of their planes. I loved the show as a kid, but jeez, it's bad.
