Commonly portrayed as stupid or incompetent, the Sloth Bear is actually incredibly dangerous. I live in the USA, where we have some pretty dangerous bears, and I have had a close encounter with one as well. But the first time I heard of the Mysore Sloth Bear, I realized that it indeed a very dangerous animal. Mostly due to the fact that it lives in the same jungle as Tigers and Leopards. Thank you so much for covering these stories, and I love how you put so much emotion into how you describe them. Keep up the great work! 👍👍👍

Bears are amazing animals and brutally tough. Sloth bears are smaller than bears we have in the States but they are very aggressive. Sloth bears commonly take kills from tigers.

I have studied somewhere that sloth bears has poor eyesight so they get provoked whenever someone comes very near to them and that's the reason why they attack unprovoked( or very provoked owing to poor eyesight)As always superb, this story telling is no exception. Thanks a lot 🙏

Thank you for the huge amount of time and effort you have put into making these stories accessible to a modern audience. I first read books by Corbett and Anderson in the 1960s when I was a child. They are amazing tales of an era long since passed into history but so worth reading and re-reading. I will make time to re-aquatint myself with these wonderful books through your narrations. Best wishes from 'Down Under'.

Sloth bears defy their image well. They can be extremely unpredictable, although thats true to all bear species. There's a clip on RU-vid of a sloth bear managing to keep two tigers away from it.

Nicely done once again. Here in New Zealand we have no large land carnivore or predator so I cannot imagine what it must be like to live in areas with leopards, tigers and bears. I know that such places are few and far between now but lets hope that the few pockets that remain are protected and preserved.

Although i have read all hunting stories written by Jim Corbett and Kenneth Anderson but I really love it when i almost forget a story and have the chance to read/hear it once more just to feel the excitement and let me imagination recreate those events once more. Combine such amazing stories with your wonderful narration and it makes for a very thrilling experience. By now i have heard your audio book on Peer Bux at least 6 times. Thank you Apratim bhai.

Listening to these tales at .6x speed gives it a dreamy otherworldly feeling. It’s like sitting besides a fireplace , deep in the night and Mr. Corbett or Mr. Anderson themselves are narrating their experiences. Thank you sir for bringing novelty to the art of storytelling.

Thank you for these great stories you read them without equal! I myself live I Grizzly country and have come across them many times, sometimes in uncomfortable situations. But luckily I recon they are not quite as excitable as your bears over there. Thank you again for your work!

You're very welcome and thanks for commenting. Grizzly country in North America has its own charm. I've been to WY and although I didn't see a Grizzly Bear, I saw warning signs about them and how to use bear spray correctly, all over the place. No comparisons there, a grizzly can be far too dangerous than the sloth bear.

@@selvalore thanks for commenting back. I recon when it comes to bears every one has to learn how to get along with the ones in their own areas they can definitely all be dangerous but they are all fascinating as well. Thanks again

There is an old saying, 'You're only as good as the company you keep' and given that Sloth bears have next to no chance to 'fly' away from tigers and leopards, they fight, and if tigers are the company you have no choice but to keep, you are not to be messed with. Sloth bears seem to live by 'Don't tread on me' or 'F#ck with and find out'

Great story ! Do you think doing your research that Kenneth Anderson was in Jim Corbett's League or do his stories seem embellished. Corbett's stories read like a biography while Anderson's seem a bit like fiction
@selvalore
@selvalore 2 года назад
Just different writing styles. Anderson had more flair and there is a possibility that they are embellished a little but who am I to judge. Corbett's style is very unassuming. I very much enjoy reading both of them.

Who is Kenneth Anderson? What year is this? The British had a general named Kenneth Anderson during ww2. Any relation?
@selvalore

As far as I know this Kenneth Anderson never served in the British Army. There is an extensive bio of him on Wikipedia. The events of this story probably take place sometime in the 1940s.

Bonafide hero….tries his best to get the injured brother out to safety and breaks his ankle??? Is this true? I was right there when he found him then hurt himself carrying him out! These “man eater” hunters were cut from a different cloth.
