Strange how RU-vid hasn't recommended this channel before. Great and clear explanation with some fantastic English. No sch-sch'ing like most Dutch-English speakers. Nice job!
I just bought this monitor and I have to fully agree with this review. Also it depends on you graphic card, but if you have some high end and you can go for ultra details and still get 120+ FPS, this 165Hz monitor can give you extraordinary experience in games. On the contrary...with lower frequencies comes little overshoot / ghosting. HDR is really quite bad, but with such great contrast values, you dont need it and SDR is just fine. After 2 weeks of gaming I can say, that this is a great monitor for a good price :)
Great video as always. You shoud do collab video with other tech youtubers (like Linus) to get much more famous, with this level of quality you can get to million very soon. All the best ;)
Is het mogelijk dat jullie de gigabyte g27q reviewen? Het lijkt een fantastisch scherm voor de prijs, maar ik kan letterlijk nergens reviews vinden en ik krijg daar dan een beetje een slecht gevoel over.
Great video, Really great review... one question, ive been looking at this monitor and the asus xg32vqr that has come a lot down in price, the diff between them is just 70 euros, which one would you recommend?
Great review, I'm looking for a monitor for more casual games. So one with better picture quality, contrast etc. This monitor seems like a great option, however the only concern I have about this monitor is it being 1440p 32 inch. Compared to the 1440p 27 inch gigabyte monitor, how is the picture quality? I know the PPI will be lower but does it really make that much of a difference? Its hard to say without seeing the two monitors in person, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! Obviously there is a PPI decrease if you go from 27" to 32" but I really don't think it's a real problem, especially for gaming where I really feel that the larger size adds more to the immersion than a higher density. It's really subjective though. Not one right or wrong answer. I think if i spent most of my time working on photo's i'd take the 27" instead, if i mostly game i'd take the 32". And general use is fine on both.
7:44 I like yous videos, but you wrong on this part. Light Bleeding is the Most of problem with this monitor and it's not just me, look a the reviews. I was a little bit disappointmet . I expected more. Great Quality, Design and Features, Medium Quality Display in my opinion. The quality it's from a display of $150.
Really like your review. Very comprehensive with some soft criticisms of the specific pitfalls of the features included. Great job! :) BTW I love your Cooler Master Cosmos 700M in the background.
I don't play competitive games so I wanted a monitor that was big and had a nice to look at display, sense I play games for the visual and story. I found this monitor after a long search and added it to the cart right away. It won't be here till next week. But this review makes me even more exited and happy with my purchase. I was very excited to see you had a video on it! Thank you for being so thorough as always! I was looking everywhere for the colour gamuts compared in all the versions and you offered that. Definitely my favourite tech reviewer on RU-vid.
Had mine for a month or so and couldn't be more pleased. Took awhile to get used to the bigger size coming from a 27 and 24 dual setup but its been great!
@@kailashpillai3737 it's quite a bit more immersive imo only bad part is the res isnt as sharp looking since 1440p looks better on a 27". Still been a good monitor regardless. It's hasnt affected me at all on fps games either but I have a pretty deep desk.
you know, it doesn't fit my desk but I think It's sick af ^.^ Update, I just got it last week, fps games look smooth az. The colors look amazing, when the monitor is black it got some w and m shaped not so dark areas on the top and bottom of the screen. Also never had such a fast refresh monitor before so I got nothing to compare it to besides my 60hz one. I'm sure when I start making bank and buy higher end monitors I'll see the difference Until then I'll live in mindless bliss thinking I have the ultimate monitor setup ^.^
alright update, ghosting is real my guy, like ew u kno, extra bad on dark colors if you go into fps mode its not as bad. I unfortunately can't get into fps mode because my eyes don't last long in anything above 250-300 so sad hours. currently contemplating on looking for a smaller monitor or something the same size but better with handling the ghosting situation or become a big baller anyway wish me luck! XD
2:46 "move it up or down" side to side, like a rollercoaster? Sorry, i had to say it. But very nice review, I have missed the upload apparently. Thanks!
There is a problem with this monitor and the samsung odyssey 32'' . Some reviewers have apparently contrast ratios of about 2500/1 and others like you contrast ratios of about 5000/1 . ( Look the g32qc review at rtings for instance ) . The thing is that that massive difference in contrast ratio and therefore to black levels can completely change the overall image quality and HDR performance. It's like there are two panel varieties out there and Samsung and/or Gigabyte doesn't seem to know what panel is installed on the final product.
Remember that even though 5000:1 and 2500:1 sound like huge differences, those are tiny differences in black levels. It does sound like something to check out though, but I haven't seen any other G32QCs yet.
@@TechTesters My samsung Tv has 5000/1 contrast ratio and 1000 nits hdr brightness ( edge local dimming ) . My crg9 has 2500/1 contrast ratio and again 1000 nits hdr brightness ( edge local dimming ). Hdr on the first is useable and actually pretty good , hdr on the second is not usable , very washed out because of the lower black levels . What you say may not matter in sdr but in hdr it makes a display from hdr usable to non usable. Personal opinion... Keep up the good work!
@@oDiium1 Local diming zones and top brightness are way more important than just the contrast ratio itself. This monitor can only reach 400 nits and does NOT have any local dimming's.(Local diming means it can regulate the brightness on certain areas of your TV). Your TV can reach 1000 nits, has local diming zones. There is honestly no comparison worth making with a tv that has such a high brightness with local dimming's . But that doesn't change the fact that there is something going with the production of the panels. Would also maybe explain why you now only can get the A edition. My panel has much more backlight bleed and more in line of the results of Rtings.
This monitor is fore sure not 5000:1. I got mine and I have way more backlight bleed. I believe reviewers got a different sample or for a time a different panel was installed. This would also explain why you now only can get the -A edition. You can't even get the old one anymore. Rtings also did a review and got a way more modest contrast ratio of 2900:1 with the normal variant, without the A.
@@Kaiser187 ehh I was kinda wrong, I think the panel is the same but just different quality control. The monitor she received was probably cherry picked to be the best. Since I believe it's a review unit
@@Kaiser187 Well it isn't as bad as other brands. Most other brands don't suddenly have 2000 extra contrast ratio. Even cherry picked ones. Multiple reviewers noted this ratio, but the reviewers who bought it like Ratings show a much more modest ratio.
Guys, I have one question.... I am currently thinking about to buy a new monitor. However, I am not sure which one I should take... Would it be worth taking the ASUS XG32VQR or the Gigabyte G32QC instead? I mean, there is a price difference of about 100$/€.... but what excatly makes the Asus better? Thanks for your help :)
It means that the monitor can display up to 165 fps. Even if the fps is shown as being higher, a 144 or 165Hz panel can't actually show more fps than it's Hz rating.
Thanks for the review, great and informative! Can this monitor handle g-sync compatible + 165 hz + hdr at the same time? I am looking for a VA monitor specifically since now I am using TN and I just don't like it at all - the colors are bad, viewing angles are just unacceptable. IPS is good but I heard it can't produce deep black colors. So it leaves me with one option only, which is VA. Also since I'm going for two displays, this curved feature is nice since it allows me to put monitors close to each other without any angle in between. By the way, this monitor costs just 2/3 of the price of Gigabyte CV27Q in my region. I feel like going from 24 inch 60hz TN with no sync features or hdr and with brightness of 250 to this model will be a huge difference.
Thank you for this good review! Still i would like some advices: Do the Xiaomi Mi BHR4269GL compete with this monitor or is this one undeniably better?
@@TechTesters Hey, there is one specific info that i can't find anywhere, i hope i didn't miss it in the menu you showed in the video. Is there a something like a zoom mode on this monitor?
Techtesters I think the colour calibration and the colour performance isn’t great, but it’s quite enough for gaming, around 92%sRGB, although g32qc seems can handle movies and light photo editing better than vg32qc The build quality of vg32qc is great in it’s price range, and unfortunately there isn’t a lot of choice of 32” 2K >144Hz Gaming monitor on the market😢 One of my target is Samsung G7, but the price is high in my home place🤦🏼♂️
Can you do me a favor, can you take the best gaming IPS if you have one laying around and compare with this monitor in the next video? I find that contrast is really high when you were showing a sample video in the dark but when you are gaming the colors looked a little dull maybe it's the video
It's always really hard to "show" you the difference. What you see is affected by the monitors, my camera, Adobe Premiere, RU-vid compression, and your own monitor. So it's impossible to look at b-roll and really see the difference. Same as that you can't see a contrast of 5000:1 or more in a video if your monitor only does 1000:1. In terms of colors, there isn't really much of a difference between this and a typical good IPS panel with a similar setting.
I am sitting here smiling, I am Dutch too and live in Canada for the past 23 years. I still do the same thing: start sentences with "Now" or "So" it is funny how we still hang on to those. Goed review trouwens, ik denk idd dat de base te groot is. Groeten uit Canada.
I like the aesthetic of this monitor, it doesn't scream 'gaming' and would not look out of place in a professional setup. Personally for me however 32" is just too big for PC gaming :) Perhaps in months ahead when the price has gone down a bit it will be a very good choice.
There's a 27" version, the G27QC. It has the same specs, save for the brightness, which is a bit lower. Also, the contrast is not as high, but it's still great.
Its not bad but i just replaced it with an ips panel instead. Its a nice monitor but you can notice ghosting on grey or other colored backgrounds. Other than that there is nothing bad about it, the colors look good and the res is good for 32 inch but it would look a lot more crispy on a 27ich monitor, but the contrast ratio was 5000:1 or around on mine but gigabyte advertises 3000:1
@David Jones or the lg gl850 b or the gl 83a b are also very good and the only difference between them is actually the colors range. The 850 uses dcip 3 and the other uses srgb. They are a bit on the high end of the price
I wish manufacturers would stop implementing features that they end up implementing poorly. I know that putting HDR (for example) on a box might sell better, but if it's poorly implemented, it's better for both company and consumer to just leave it out save some costs so they can drop the price.
I hear you. I guess it's just a thing that's built into the panel / scaler and they're just letting it be, I doubt it's even costing them somehow. I don't even think the HDR option is bad to have, but the Aim Stabilizer is a good example of something they should either tune right, or remove. But, people who watch reviews will probably ignore the feature, and people who don't still want to see some marketing BS I guess? :)
@@TechTesters Yes and no. Maybe HDR wasn't the best example, but some standards require a license fee (HDR10 is free, but something like Dolby Vision or Technicolor HDR requires a license). And when a manufacturer has to pay for something, that overhead gets forwarded to the end-user with some additional "processing" cost and then some taxes get thrown on top of that. A bit off topic, but to some extreme extend you can compare it to the Gsync milking that Nvidia has been doing for years; they provide a chip with some technology, the monitor manufacturer has to pay for that, and the consumer pays 50/150 more than what the technologie is actually worth. We did a calculation at the office (quite) a few years ago. Some devices could end up costing between 40 and 70% of what they sold for back then, if all the unnecessary licenses and patents would be taken out of the equation. That's 30 to 60% lower in price, for features most people won't ever use. And the argument that licenses and patents are there to protect the developer and to protect innovation doesn't entirely hold ground half the time, as those have become a business model for patent-trolls in many cases. Or in Nvidia's case, just a disgusting business model looking like "Hey, you bought our top end super expensive graphics card, but if you want to fully use it, you should give us even more money.". Sorry for the rant. I have an excuse: I'm Dutch :)
@@rufiooo7 Thanks. I see it on Best Buy for the same price. I missed out on the dell s32220dgf for $329. I wonder how this one compares with the dell one . Both have very similar specs.
@@ezioaugustus2621 superb when considering price and performance. A lot stuff to adjust, don’t use the standing plot and love its size. U got used to it very quickly!! Watch out you don’t wanna have 34 inch later then XD
You sold me. Once they have them back up on amazon it is snag time! My robot will be pleased that his pupil cam feed will be displayed with such fine colors. XD
Can u do a tutorial vedio to how choose the peefect monitor with the perdect price ? Because i am playing on a 60hz small tv and it dont support full resoulution pleaaaaaaaaase
Subscribed! I’m torn between this, the GB M27Q, and the MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD. I’m coming from an ASUS 75 Hz 1080p screen, so I’m sure picture, and performance-wise, any of these monitors will be an upgrade…. But my question would be: if I am willing to trade a tiny bit of response time for deeper blacks, and wider color gamut, which if the 3 would you personally recommend?
Great review!! I really need your opinion on what to get from these 3 monitors: - Gigabyte M32QC - MSI Optix AG321CQR - LG 32GP850-B I’m not a gamer, I just want the monitor for home office and browsing, but I want the best performance for that. Your help would be highly appreciated!!😊
What is going on with the new monitors? Almost all of them are curved. I was looking for a 1440p 32 inch monitor with good refresh rate and so on. All of them are curved. Had the 6 year old Acer xb270hu lots of backlight bleeding. Opted the Samsung G7. It is a very good monitor but the curve does get to my nerves. :)
Got mine yesterday. In a nutshell: it's terrible. The amount of inverse ghosting makes it literally unusable for faster games. Even Tarkov looks horrific up and that's not exactly fast. If you just play RTS or ARPG's then this monitor *might* just be ok. Even scrolling on web sites makes all the text leave nasty trails. Sending mine back. Biting the bullet and going for the Odyssey G7.
hey Techtesters, what do you suggest MSI MAG 32 or Gigabyte 32 here? I am in to buy a budget 32" i need larger field to play and currently own a MSI 322CQRV which gave up due to LCD issue. So short story, i need to pick up a new one. I do play CS GO occasionally and would love something that is more helping in it.
Do you guys know if I'll be able to watch movies and tv shows from Netflix without that funny effect that high refresh rates make to the pictures? sorry for the ignorance. I'm an honest entry level user who's looking for a monitor for a PS5 /XsX but also looking to still watch movies at 24fps.
I got the 34 inch version of this and I connected it to my macbook air with hdmi2 port, with an adapter in between as macbook air has only usbc connection. I had to scale the mac resolution to 2560x1140 to match the monitors as that gives me the most normal picture and anything else horriblyyyy lags my macbook. But my issue is that even this still makes my computer lag, i can see it when i move the mouse and similar things. Its usable but definitely not great, for the price I paid for all of this. Another issue I am facing is that my external monitor is too stretched. This becomes even more noticeable with youtube videos and pictures. I tried other resolutions, the one I have now works the best but its still majorly stretched. On my mac screen it looks normal and on the external stretched. If I choose default for display it gives major lag again. Any idea how to fix these two problems? I don’t want to return everything as idk what the issue is exactly and getting another monitor might just give me the same issue..
another failed monitor. first of all its curved, which sux. and it doesnt support hdmi 2.1, which im surprise they havent any out yet and is the biggest let down. the joystick on the back will start playing up eventually, just like my monitor
Its a quad hd.. 2 k monitor its a good price point and good spec also both Gsync and freesync... But i have 2 know one more thing ... Is it better for Ps5 gaming... ?or ps5 requirements minimum 4 k or 8 k ? Does ps5 runs on 2k monitors?
I got this monitor a few months ago and I love it. The only thing I don't like is the joystick power button. It is bit unpredictable but you get used to it. There is also some black smearing in certain instances. Really wish this had a remote as well.
You can plugin the monitor to your computer via USB and use the OSD Sidekick software so no need to use the joystick... also hope you use the "speed" response time mode to minimize black smearing
Hello! I have had this monitor for 2 years and I am very happy with it, but unfortunately a short time ago, I accidentally broke the display, please tell me where I can order this screen pannel . Thank you!
I think they wont add that the monitor is g-sync compatible because they need to buy a liscense from nvidia to be allowed to say it. And so gigabyte and many other dont say thats it has gsync but it has (unofficially). And if they would the monitors would be more exspensive too.
I have this monitor but refreshrate in games goes on 60hz in monitor settings and in warzone its locked on 60hz Need help pls! Btw i checked every setting about refresh rate on windows and nvidia control panel
Can someone tell me Gigabyte G32QC, stand size(those two legs) how wide they are and how deep they are, I am measuring will it fit my table with keyboard and mouse
I bought mine 6 days ago. There is considerable amount of backlight bleed.(There is like a batman logo on the secreen not too bad but its there) I was considering for a replacement but the further I searched, the further I understood the fact that no back light bleed is very rare. Correct me if I am wrong.
@@dorukinanc3993 You are correct it is more rare these days to get one with no back light bleed. But they do exist. (Those review people get cherry picked models to make them look good. ) Any way I bought & returned 5 monitors before I got one with none. Its a real shame the makers just don't care anymore
