Fun Fact: The giant "King Klown" from the ending sequence, affectionately called "Klownzilla" by the Chiodo Brothers, was actually played by one of them (Charles Chiodo). Stunt SNAFU Fact: The scene in which a car is thrown over a cliff was initially intended to be far more spectacular - the car was to fly over the cliff and crash down to the ground. Unfortunately, the sling rope snapped because effects crew members neglected to remove the stoppers from underneath the car's wheels. The result was what is seen in the final film, the car slowly tumbles over the edge and becomes caught on a tree. Spending Money Wisely Fact: The $2 million budget went primarily on production costs. The clowns and visual effects were created almost entirely by the filmmakers at very little cost.

Fun fact, Dave actually did die in the original screening but test audiences didn't like that he died so they changed it so that he miraculously survived.

Late to the party, they actually drove a car off a bridge, and had to pay for damages. The cotton candy also damaged the inside of another rental car which they had to also pay for damages.

Such a random film but one I grew up with and love. I wore a KKFOS t-shirt to work and a coworker freaked out at how much they loved that movie. He was the first person in my entire life that wasn't family that knew the film. I was so happy to see someone react to this!

No that was a real car not a miniature, it just that basically everything that could go wrong with the car falling off the cliff stunt tht could go wrong went wrong and they weren't able to do another take.

This hit video stores when I was 9 and my mom rented it for me because she didn't look at the title and thought it was about the circus. It scared the crap out of me, made me hate cotton candy and twisty straws.

I still remember when I watched this movie in a afternoon after school, I was around 6yo and TERRIFIED. I'm sure this influenced me a lot making me love horror movies after a few years, I never forgot this movie, I only rewatched it a couple years ago and it really is a classic.

The cotton candy is like spider web, it catches the prey and it gets liquified for the klowns to suck out. The balloons are how they catch people to turn into other klowns. Definitely agree that it would've been cooler for more focus on the mythology instead of the ensemble cast, just have the police officer as a sort of Ash Williams.

The movie had a budget of the movie was 1.8 million dollars in 1988, which would be about 4.5 million dollar budget today, not an indie film level budget, but also not a big budget either when yiu factor in props, staff, marketing etc.

My dad and I watched horror movies together from a VERY young age cause my dad was awesome. We watched Killer Klowns together for Halloween, and the next day, for the Halloween party at the nearby game store, I dressed as a Killer Klown. I remember having fake blood on my face, and eating corndogs because it 'felt like a clown thing to eat' and even had ketchup on them even though I prefer mustard cause I wanted my face to still look bloody.

You should watch Once Bitten 1985. It was the first Jim Carrey movie I ever saw and it's hilarious and a bit naughty. Earth Girls Are Easy 1988 is another cheesefest that has an all star cast. Jeff Goldblum, Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans and Geena Davis starred in it. It had every 80s trope imaginable and it was great.

Bill Skarsgårds Pennywise is the scariest clown I've seen. The one u didn't like was defo the scariest looking in this movie, but imo Bill was scarier bc there as wasn't much prosthetics so it is just his face....so yes he is that creepy. But these clowns weren't too bad

This is the only horror movie where the evil clowns, ACT LIKE CLOWNS. In every other horror movie featuring an evil clown, the clown is either a generic slasher dressed like a clown, doing generic slasher things, or a monster disguised as a clown, doing generic monster things. Here, in this movie, the evil clowns are not slashers. Not monsters. THEY ACTUALLY ARE CLOWNS, DOING CLOWN THINGS, TO HORRIFFICALLY LETHAL RESULTS. I wish there would be more of this. If your evil clown isn't going to do clown things... why did you bother with making them a clown?! What is the point of including the clown part if you're not gonna play with it? I say, an evil clown should ALWAYS use weaponized classic clown gags! A squirting flower full of flammable liquid that gets set ablaze cheekily with a tossed firecracker, a custard pie whose custard hides jagged spikes right to the victim's face, a bucket of hydrochloric acid perched atop a door, a fleeing victim stopped by a thrown banana peel, a squeaky mallet with a hidden iron weight so it comically squeaks AND breaks bones, deadly slapstick routines, lethal magic tricks, disembowelled intestine balloon animals, EVERY EVIL CLOWN SHOULD DO STUFF LIKE THIS. Every single evil clown should indulge in all the sick black comedy they can! There is no real excuse not to!
