I am a small white woman and I got pulled over in my white nursing uniform because I just finished a graveyard shift. The officer approached my car with gun drawn and made me leave my car which made me very scared! He asked me if I had a weapon. This was for driving 2 miles over the speed limit. However what I saw in the police station was disgusting!! So many men of color and I knew they were not getting justice!! Time for change!

Rob Perry Yes, when a government acts consistently against the interests of its people, not to mention against the basic principles of human rights, it is the duty of anyone with a significant platform to speak out and report the truth of that. Also, conservatives consistently profess to uphold the second amendment, in part, because they reason that they may one day need to take up arms against the government. People like Alex Jones and countless Fox News correspondents love to state that reasoning, so don’t try to feed us this idea that suddenly fighting back against the government is inherently wrong. You just don’t like that it’s a so-called conservative (read: fascist, in this case) government that people are standing up against. When the government themselves are corrupt beyond forgivable parameters, then sedition becomes anti-corruption. Go suck a musket.

Good luck getting that past the police unions. The first order of business should be to break police unions. Or, at the very least, force police pensions to pay for the multi-million-dollar brutality settlements that taxpayers are getting saddled with. At one point for example, the city of Cleveland had to borrow money to pay for it's police brutality settlements. Then the police union complains about cops not being paid enough. They're like evil clowns.

Also have a list of reforms that you want to see before protests stop. Right now the protests are too vague and two things are happening 1) the Right are constructing a narrative that blames the left and black people and 2) the riots will eventually fizzle out. Decide what reforms need to happen, present them, then demand them. That will focus the protests.

Calvin Cooper police are all unionized in Canada. Unions are not the problem the political will to govern solutions is. Here, civilian oversight is a given. No complaint is investigated by the same force and third parties are standard. Before someone goes after me: not suggesting Canada better, we still have problems, but we largely have administratively addressed this issue.

2024 yang but killer mike for congress or some political position that deals with government to state relations or state to people but I think he'd be able to get states to work for people better. By creating incentives for states to do so. :-)

The problem is that more than half the US citizens think there is nothing wrong enough to actually try changing the government. This is why in these elections we end up with a battle of two lesser evils (Trump and Biden, + all the other candidates the country refuses to even acknowledge) instead of options that make sense.

Looting is the result of decades of ignoring parts of our society. Don't focus on the looting, focus on the problem. That the people who were looting don't feel that our society offers them a place where they feel invested in keeping the peace. And that's because we've not addressed their issues. Voting hasn't worked for them and until we address their issues, they will remain people without hope. I'm not saying don't vote -- i want EVERYONE to vote -- but that isn't enough. It hasn't been enough and it won't be enough. Each one of us has to make a commitment to confront racism and inequality where we see it and demand that it be ended.
