Still jammin the fk outta this in 2023!! When i was a kid, i remember rewinding the vhs over and over just to keep listening to this song!! Headbangin heaven! Life is so unfair......i wish i had a version of this AND the original to play on my playlist at work!! So badass!
Please do google Gaye, he has a wiki page. I met him and played with him a bit in the late 90s in Alberta Canada and so the info in my previous reply comes from his words. Rip Gaye! You are missed brother!
I like how can still hear Chong in the background digging out some beetle and smashing it with his hand and his cough being edited out, then finally we're blessed with the iconic choke out, then back to the sounds of him discovering the bug\smashing said bug, then sparking his Bic for another toke
After 44 years on this planet, I can finally die in peace after a searching for details on this song for well over 30 years. Sucks it was never released on any format. C&C's Next Movie was always my favorite from their catalog and this song rips just as much as it did when I was a kid.
Someone needs to do a documentary on this. I mean it’s nut’s just how hard it was to find this song from the movie but the freeway action shots. My kid just graduated film school. I’m going to float the idea.
Love this song. Wish it were released on album!!! This song pumps me up, makes ya wana ride, Dtink some whisky, and go raise hell any where, for any reason!!!
I fkn love everything about this. The 70s made-for-TV footage, (those driving stunts are sick) the clever editing of the song from the movie, and of course the music itself. Thanks, champ!
Riding on The Highway I Wanna Ride Good for The Stomach Coming Close to Brake My Bike When I Start To Tune Her On a Clear Skie When The Pigs aren't Lookin Time to Hook Up The Ride Hell on Wheels Im Taking Off Takin Off Wheeling on The Freeway Wanna Feel Humming From My Tailpipe Screaming Hell on Wheels Shout at The Chance if You Wanna Grab The Wind Knowin Thats Your Gonna Hate to Love Me in The End Girl's Are Fallin in Love With Me Don't Try to Close Me in I Will Try Get Out of Here Gonna Get More Wind Hell On Wheels Im Taking Off Takin Off
I couldn't figure out what the title was. Nowhere in the credits or on IMDB do they mention this. I thought it was Deep Purple for the longest time. They were apparently a new band when Next Movie was made.
How the fuck was this piece of rock 'n' roll gold not released to the public. Those studio's who hold the master copy's of this song should be stormed by mobs with torches, pitch forks stoned and drunk and demand for the copy's to be released or be slapped silly until they do.
@Gordon Fatfoot Thank You ! So, much. I've been looking for this tune forever ! I'll bet a lot of Cheech and Chong fans have. I searched like hell a couple times. Couldn't even find Next Movie soundtrack for sale when I did. Found out Steve Lukather from Toto did the badass guitar solo in the movie, in an interview I read. Steve said that people had asked HIM about the "Wheelin' down the freeway" "Hell on wheels" song and he didn't know who did it, wished he did, but just didn't know. "Taking Off" by Killer, go figure. Sounds like it could be a Dee Snider side project. Dee probably wishes he thought of it. Thank you again. MM
Sure, the van has "Dodge" on the front so you'll know what to do when you see it coming. But the fact it also has "Ram" on the side means they're after your ass.
@Gordon Fatfoot Ah haa ! This song is some clever editing and looping. I could hear a bit of that Steve Lukather guitar solo dubbed in towards the end of the song. Still Love It ! Sounds good, [and I didn't have to do the editing], but I can sure appreciate the talent it takes, just full of surprises. Thank you again !
Uhh there's an easier way to pick up chicks .. Lol than ramming them in your creeper van ! Lol great job the 8trak was spot on and 70s cars & doos was as well.
So i searched around and found a message board. One of the band members of the band Killler (with 3 Ls) claims to have recorded this song near the parking lot were Cheech is stealing gas. He said it was for the soundtrack but got scrubbed because the movie went over budget. He never replied to any other comments.
Calligraphy Art Works I found the song un-cluttered (without the sound of Chong coughing ). On RU-vid type in: Cheech and Chong-Hell On Wheels.. pic of big bushy pot plant. Cheech on the left and Chong on the right. 3:33 and posted by ahd99m ..... enjoy! If I were you, I would record it before the RU-vid people take it off. Transfer to C.D. or what ever format you like.... Have fun. Listening !!😂😎!
Now this is rock and roll.along with willie devilll its so easy...the only new rock music that's worth a dam is group from Australia amyl and the sniffers..there amazing
I’m glad that I was not the only one looking for this song and not having any success in obtaining further info on it. Now I must ask: IS THIS VIDEO MADE FROM SOME HORROR MOVIE?! IF SO, WHAT MOVIE IS THIS?! IT LOOKS SOOO GOOD WITH THE STUNTS AND OLD 405 FWY PLUS THAT KILLER VAN!! They don’t make or sport em like that anymore!!
Ill release a Full Guitar Cover of this Song around Thursday or Friday . And i Plan to make a Guitar Turtorial of that Song and a Backing Track. Since many many People seem to have a Hunger for that song . Probably the Best Classic Rock Song ever existed.
So is this the same Killer that released the album Ladykiller, with the song Crystal Butterfly, played regularly late night by The Godfather Joe Anthony in San Antonio on 99.5 Kiss in the 80's?
Small world...I worked for San Antonio's KTFM in the 80's and remember The Godfather's sets. I used to stay up all night listening to the alternative/college station as well. I remember calling in song requests and stuff...good times. Thanks for the memory :)
Is there a back story to this song? I’ve been trying to find it with no success. Was it written exclusively for the movie? Love this tune, such raw late seventies early eighties rock. Thanks for posting brother 🤘🤘
Big ups man love the video edit. I'm a fan of video edit remixes. Dont know the footage but I know the song and movie it came from. Was much a appreciated!
