Four things to take in account. 1. There was a second bomb but it was not placed in the briefcase as it was not armed but if it was there the first bomb would set off the second bomb and Hitler would have been killed. 2. The conference was moved from a concrete bunker to a wooden one was it was very hot that July day. 3 The windows were open and that lessen the explosion. 4 The briefcase was moved from near Hitler to the other side of a large wooden table leg and Hitler was bending over the table at the time of the explosion. Any one of these had been different Hitler would have been killed.

If you’re implying that the film was bad, I would have to strongly disagree. Whatever we think of Cruise as a person, he nailed his role and so did all the others. It was a great movie that captured both the hope and tragic futility of this moment in history.

The documentary does not stress an important fact enough. The main problem for all plots agaisnt Hitler, after September 1939 to neutrlize just Hitler himself, but as much as the top echelon needed to be killed, or at least imcapacitated for several weeks. That was the main reason why Stauffenberg et al. choose to attack Hitler at the "Wolf's Lair", for there would have been most top staff present.

🎉stauffenberg and his companions may have failed but they showed the world that there were "good" Germans who did not agree with Hitler's atrocities. The people of the Philippines agreed with what they did and salute them without reservation. This is Adrian Pahimulin from the Philippines.

You would think after 3 failed attempts in 9 days, von Stauffenberg would have stayed to ensure no problems occurred. He had to have known the consequences if it failed. How many people may not have died if von Stauffenberg stayed behind including family members?

Can anyone explain to me why Staffenburge did not have everything in place ready to go so the only thing he had to do was crack the glass of the acid type detonators in the C-4? The fuse was developed by the British so by using pliers, you simply crack the fuse that released a strong acid that ate through a metal wire. One the wire corroded a spring snapped down detonating the firing cap and setting off the plastique. He had to assemble everything, even inserting the fuse into the explosive. As a result he only had time to assemble 1 of the plastique charges. Had he used both…history would have been very different!

who knows, maybe the USSR try to invade eastern Europe in the 1950s because they weren't able to get any European territory since Germany surrendered before USSR were able to get to Europe if Hitler died in 1944. Still at least 10 million people would not have died if the war was stopped a year earlier. It's insane how many people died because of one crazy, evil man.

WWII was not caused by a political failure in Germany. The Great Inflation followed by the Great Depression, which had catastrophic results in Germany, caused the rise of the Nazi Party. People starved in Germany during the Depression. There was economic chaos for a decade.

Andreas Gestrich is undoubtedly an expert in this subject matter, but his interview is painfully difficult to follow.. his monotone stuttering, stammering & inability to form intelligible sentences, distract from the delivery of an otherwise interesting piece of history.
