Wow, this is prime demented genius early Killing Joke. Very few other bands have had as profound effect on me as these guys. Jaz Coleman perfected the corpsepaint look well before any Black Metal band did. Geordie Walker's guitar playing has haunted me for years. It's so tribal and trance inducing. One of the best UK bands EVER.
Jaz looks almost schizophrenic on these Generation 80s performances... quite frightening really! And, yes, they were an INCREDIBLE band, at their best. They're not too bad nowadays either, actually...
I found the band because of Nirvana and I heard that Come As You Are sounds like Eighties, so I looked up Eighties and loved it. Listened to only Eighties for about 5 or 6 months straight and decided to listen to their other songs. Excellent decision, I love all of their songs now. Have been bingeing them for the past week and now I am here. I love Jaz and all the members of the band, all the music videos are entertaining and fun. This is now my favorite band. I am also currently a teenager and hope to make my own music. Definitely will have inspiration from these guys!
Good luck to you, get some like minded mates together and form a band. Write your own songs, try some local gigs. It's the best of times in your teens writing music with your mates
@@TheDaveman75 it must be so hard to be original these days I have a cousin who played drums for a few local bands They started of doing their own material and made a cd However, the local radio station wasn't interested I started to write my own music fanzine on local bands, (1990s), but most bands preferred to play covers It was so boring after a while, as you would recognise the same people in the crowd Best advice : keep plugging away, send your own demos to your home address for copyright Make sure all your members are fully committed to being in a band, play loads of gigs Enjoy 🙏🤞
And influenced them to, Nirvana even stole the guitar rif from 80's (and slowed it down) in Come as You Are..I wonder if Killing Joke got any royalties from that?
+TheYomanda Killing joke actually sued but Kurt committed suicide before the trial got far. Killing joke then decided it wouldn't be appropriate to continue with the case. I think members have collaborated with Dave Grohl since then too.
Always and forever, thank you to Great Britain and the British people whose creativity, since the 1960s, has given the rest of the World hundreds of unique bands such as Killing Joke and music of unparalleled beauty, quirkiness and atmosphere. This guitar riff plays in my head all day at work or on a long hike. Drums are great. So happy I was introduced to this band. Having an open mind reaps rewards.
@TheJaidee23 i couldn't agree with you more. killing joke are relentless, uncompromising, and genuine. i can't think of any other band that conveys a feeling of brutal, raw emotion better than killing joke.
Since their debute on Dutch soil (Parkpop 1982) I was and still am a great fan. Actually can remember seeing this TV show on RTBF, Generation 83. It widened the generation gap with my mother. Sorry mum;-)
@SCROGY what is an example of a horrible screaming death? is it like being crushed by a big slab of concrete? or is it the instance right before being crushed, when you know you are going to be crushed, and you then scream.
youth is one under rated bass player. he plays like the bloke from chic. he could have played carly simons why in a stylee. if you dont get get what im sayin yah cyan play bass
Presumably Geordie was using the same guitar he's used throughout jis career, and does to this day? First thing I noticed on this vid that he has what looks like a Fender (probably just to attract this kind of comment)!
I agree. I don't dislike their newer stuff, but I do believe they've gotten a little lazier in their writing process and are not as creative as they once were.
@@FrontmanVideo I agree, but I am in my 50s I only like the music 81/86 Most gigs were much better in those days £3/£4 a ticket These days bands will play at festivals and massive stadiums for £100! Mind you, I did see the Chameleons play 3 times about 20 years ago and Siouxsie & Banshees 👏 I can't stand the music around today, apart from The National & Interpol
I wouldn't call their later stuff nu metal. Though they certainly inspired the genre. Revelations sounds like Korn and all those bands, 10+ years ahead of the time.
all that powerful sound is negated by Cha z sitting behind the console .Dims the onslaught of energy generated by drums and guitars .Bad idea for performance .
