It's reasonable for Byleth thief to be fast enough to not be doubled. My go to was lure with Byleth who barely survives snd does some damage, gambit pile then best lance user comes in with knightkneeler.
It's not exactly difficult to KO the death knight in maddening without dark spikes. Things like knight kneeler have always existed on every lance unit, after all, and give effectiveness vs cavalry. Lowering his health with gambits is the easiest way to get the death knight into an acceptable threshold. Then, just use someone with knight kneeler (Ferdinand, Sylvain, Ingrid, Dimitri, Leonie etc). In chapter 8, there's even a chest in Remire village near where the death knight spawns that contains a horse slayer lance, which will make it even easier to KO the death knight when paired with knight kneeler. Plus, you can get the Spear of Assal from the Seteth paralogue too.
but this isn’t about ch8 DK, its about ch4 DK, which is entirely different but yeah tbh this isn’t all that impressive i’m honestly not sure why i posted it
@@alpha_c. My comment wasn't only about Remire village death knight: every lance unit has knight kneeler at D rank lances. Dimitri etc have it in chapter 1 and 2, as well. So obviously they have it for chapter 4 inherently.
@@l.n.3372 i believe you’ll need quite a bit of strength to oneshot with knightkneeler, but anyways, as i’ve already stated, you’re right it isn’t that hard, idk why i posted lol
@@l.n.3372 you shouldn’t be using effective arts with effective weapons since they don’t stack ( and effective weapons multiplier Is higher). You’d generally be best with an effective weapon with your strongest art but if you are like dimitri and have no good lance arts Outside of the standard stuff I suppose effective art with strong weapon still works ( outside of the fact that you can’t use arts with dimitri and relics cuz his crest breaks them and the only arts he should be using are ones he can safely use when it wouldn’t ko the enemy with high durability weapons so his crest doesn’t constantly screw you over and can be helpful ( aka if you use arts spam windsweep if not just attack or just wait to do battalion wrath vantage stuff but that’s more of a late game concern). Dimitri’s crest can cause a lot of economic problems so I wouldn’t recommend using him for arts even early game much
@@zoruafox7512 I'm pretty sure not stacking is false. I've used Flayn as a falcon knight recently and she did way more damage on Spear of Assal plus knight kneeler than she did with Spear of Assal alone. I could be wrong, but this is just what I remember from a run back in May.
In my first ever Maddening run, I intended for Dedue to lure DK out and hoping he couldn’t be one-rounded so long as there was no crit. I forgot at the time Quick Riposte meant DK couldn’t double, so Dedue not only survived the crit, but even fired back with two crits in Death Knight fashion
I actually just positioned my units to be far away enough and let the Death Knight Rampage and lose a lot of Health, then I just rushed the dude and killed him with the Sword of the Creator at low health, he actually fights your enemies for you which is pretty great.
i had a devil axe i had in inventory which i got from abyss but i didn’t use it. were you on maddening mode NG? i think you’d need quite a lot of stats to kill with just a rapier
Me: *kos death knight with a crit from constance’s bolting after a few tries on maddening casual (yes im playing maddening on casual i dont mind being trash)* Me: hahaha lol
Im a player who plays for fun so i wouldn’t know this stuff, sorry. But even with 134 hours of gameplay before this new game plus maddening playthrough im still struggling through paralogues. Ive never done maddening before, and to be honest… its not as bad as i thought. Sorry for beingn confused
