“Never give your trust away, you’ll end up payin til your dyin day” Black Sabbath always had some meaningful lyrics and is one of the reasons I’ve been a huge fan. No one writes like they did anymore
I think the bass player Geezer wrote almost all the lyrics for Sabbath. Tony was a genius with his ability to write the rifts and Ozzy was Ozzy. I don't really know how to critique Bill's drumming.
Being your own person is a central theme in alot of Sabbath's lyrics. They weren't devil worshipers or any such nonsense that the bible thumpers accused them of. They were always warning against the things in life that take away from your independence, be it religion or drugs or other people etc. If there is any grand narrative in their lyrics it is believe in yourself and no one or nothing else.
One of the best bands, if not the best band ever...bar frickin none baby. Had the good fortune to see them live in concert back in the day. It changed my life.
Black Sabbath is the best band in the land. They've produced over a half a century of kickass musical masterpieces carved into solid hard rock and heavy metal. 🤘
Anyone ever consider this songs meaning as it correlates with living with active addiction. I lived it, recovered. Lived it again and currently recovering. I can say for me living with addiction to avoid the discomfort i felt was literally " killing myself to live" i fucking love Black Sabbath. These guys invented an entire genre of music that lives on in the hearts of many just by reading this thread. I think I love and understand them more with a mind free from from the influence of chemicals. Just my experience. Think i will put this song on repeat for the day because it never gets old 😊
And people believe they worship the devil. FAT CHANCE. What. Sabbath states in their lyrics are choices. They are just putting out there for you to see the difference between heaven and hell or God and Satan. Or the dark vs the light. People say because they wear a cross that it's santanic related. In there early years there was a woman who would go to there shows and she would cast spells on the band and it scared Tony so much that he got crosses for him and band members. Isn't that what crosses are for protection. But others think different.
The pure emotion in all of the solos compromised and curated in this song are simply beautiful I'm so ever grateful this brilliant brilliant composer of wonderful works of art did not stop playing and us as fans well aren't we ever so lucky, (thank you riffmaster Anthony Frank Iommi).. Some have me weeping :)😌 and I'm not apologizing for that

I know dude the whole song is just filled with so many good metaphors and lyrical phrasings like that long live the first doom/stoner/heavy/prog metal band!! 🤟✌

My mind is up and down,inside out and everywhere I decide it to be without my mind being annoying about stupid little things that we can stay positive but subtle nuances can set me off to think negatively which sometimes I feel is dumb 😔✌️💗 gotta just keep pushing through seize the changes you make for yourself and others will follow I appreciate you.

@@matercicero9148 I agree, everyone is entitled to be themselves and the masks make us feel like we can't it's like the symbolism of the oppresive society we live in and are almost proud that it's become this bad. I digress of course changes are coming and we should be happy we live in such an amazing time to be meerly alive right now. Cherrish every moment this one's going in the books (:
