Hi lovely, thsnkyou for your kind comments., I love the ball and chain its such a different piece. I did make some other strange pieces but one blew up in thr community kiln and I dropped the other one 🤣 🥰
Great kiln opening Cuz! I absolutely love the first piece you took out of the kiln, with the glaze chips. It's gorgeous! Everything was beautiful. Love the ball and chain! ❤😍🥰
Hi cuz, thankyou so much, yes my 2 fave pieces too. Going to do a big bowl with some glaze chips, it's always a gamble though 😂 the ball and chain is still amusing me ❤️ 😍 🥰
@@ceramicsbyjulia8552 You're welcome! Oh, I can't wait to see a big bowl with some glaze chips! Yeah, I'm still amazed by the ball and chain. It looks so good. ❤😍🥰
Hi Julia, love the first plate, those are def my colours. The chain looks so real! The buff bowl is pretty. Interesting pattern. Love the little pumpkin. Lucky Jeanette. The ball n chain is so realistic. Even sounds real. Love the large dot bowl. 😍 ooooh love the idea of a live make with me. Great kiln unload.
Love to watch you every time! You are so funny and wonderful to listen to! Both lives are fine! I do live kiln openings and other RU-vid’s too and I love it! It is really nice you actually have people to talk to! Sometimes Just one sometimes three or five but that makes it so much nicer!! So go for it! I will be there❤
Nice work Julia! Very creative. I love the very first bowl and the ball and chain. Oh and I love the big blue bowl and the very last piece. I guess I like them all, lol.
lol you made me laugh 😊 love the blue bowl, stunning blue combination. I don’t have blue lagoon but might try it with arctic blue instead 😊 thank you so much for sharing ❤
Actually watching this in the car on a surprise trip away! What a brilliant opening! Congrats on your chip bowl. It turned out brilliantly!!!! I'm totally obsessed with them and recently loving the waterfall effect they bring when applied to a vertical piece. Maybe that vase could have chips heavy on the rim, giving so much room for the drippiness to be magical? Utterly gutted about your pumpkin exploding in my bisque fire, but seeing this pumpkin and you kindly gifting to me has taken away some of the heartache. Thankyou so much. Its adorable! The glaze combos on the large bowls worked our fabulous too! So pleased your ball and chain survived the firing for you. Definately not a normal piece you tend to see on a klin opening! Losing reception soon so will sign off. So pleased I managed to catch thia before I go off grid. Xx.
Ahh glad you managed to catch the vid, hope you have a wonderful trip away. Will get the pumpkin to you when you get back. Like the idea of chips on the little jug 😊 xx
Black scull ,love the temu doilies ,spent ages over the years looking at antique fairs and never used because they are not quite right those look great ,never knew they did them x
Hi Linda, I didn't know till I was looking for the skull placemat and they popped up. Seems a shame to use vintage doilies that were often hand made, I have a couple but don't use them much, my little Tuesday group uses them more. I just started the skull platter and decided on brights and probably black in-between if you know what I mean 😊 x
OMG Julia!! LOVE THE BALL AND CHAIN!! How creative! Too many gorgeous glaze combos…that big blue bowl 🤩..I just bought a whole pile of placemats from Temu too! We’re all on the same wavelength!! Great video!! And hell ya..do a live..why not try?
Ahhh thankyou Wendy, I do love the ball and chain, did some even weirder things but one blew up and I dropped the other so on making new ones of those which you will see soon, if the kiln God's are with me 😁
@wendymoyle1328 I would love to see your weird stuff 😄 I am looking at setting up a Facebook group along with Nat from mudmagic where we can share pics as you can't post pics here on Ytube.
@@ceramicsbyjulia8552 my kiln has been out of action for months, just haven't been able to afford to get it fixed. It keeps burning out my wall sockets. But, hopefully, this will be the month. I have pots, plates, plaques, gnomes, cats all over my studio, living room and even my bedroom waiting to be fired!
That first dish stole the show! Wow! Are the chains hollow or solid? I’d love a tutorial on how you made and dried them! Thanks Julia, lovely opening! 🥰
Hi Julia, I really loved your mandala plate and the ball and chain is so realistic, you have so much patience! I love Tiffany’s tutorials at Hobble Creek, I saw the one with the skull but don’t think it would fit in our kiln but you have the community kiln as an option so that’s good 👍🏻
Hey Julia!! Oh the first plate is so pretty Jeanette will be proud of u. I giggled over how u glazed the back that is soooo something I would do!! That chain looks so real! I love the pumpkin so pretty Jeanette is very lucky! Well done on the ball n chain amazing! Even sounds real! Oh thanks for the shout out I was wondering if u remembered our convo lol. Hahahaha omg we think alike I just said to my husband what they look like w tails n u got yr cheeky smile!!!! Jug 3 storm 2 seaweed!! Yesss that is the same placemat I hand carved. Love it! Interested to see skull. Will u bowl it or plate?? Oh then u asked. Maybe u could bowl his eyes down so chip n 2 dips?? Oh now I want to to do that!! Live make along is an awesome idea. Great vid. Nat xx
Hi gorgeous Nat, thankyou so much. I remembered our convo after I finished and forgot to say 🐨 I knew you would understand the back of the plate as we think alike 😅 the skull I cut about 1.5 cm around it and lipped the sides up to make a platter kind of thing and went live on Tiktok while I was doing it ( to practice doing live stream), then hand painted as didn't want to do same as Tiffany's Hobble creeks one. Oh you should def do the dip eyes for one that would be so cool. I don't have storm, I forgot to say it has iron spangles in the clay so it may speckle whatever glaze I use which will be interesting 😘 xx
I think we should set up a ‘share’ system for the placemats as I’ve ordered 3 lots recently and they were in packs of 6 so I’ve 5 I don’t need of each of them - anyone any ideas? I’m in England. I would love to know what you use on the back of your bowls for texture? Absolutely fabulous bowls, so impressed! 😀
Thsnkyouso much Lynne, a share would be great! The big dot bowls are all individual pieces, the small cobblestone effect I made a roller ball to do that texture 😊
So many beautiful pieces. Tadpoles ha ha 😅 you make me chuckle. The ball and chain is fabulous Where's the person it was attached to? Milk jug mmmm let's see. I too like the blues, aqua's, turquoise etc. How about the opposite in colour, oranges!,reds, yellow, pinks etc like colours of a sunset. Or desert colours. Happy potting
Evelyn that made me giggle too. Funny you should say that, the girls at my little pottery group said they were getting worried about my new man as they hadn't seen him yet but I am making all these weird things and wondered if he was chained up at home 😳 🤣 🤣 Love the oranges, reds, yellows, pinks idea 😊
@@ceramicsbyjulia8552 awesome. It's so great to be able to have a laugh and not be so serious all the time. We need loads more laughter and fun times. Ciao
Nice kiln unload Julia, love to see how you do this. I always like your posts. The geometric jug; what about yellow purple and green with flux over to get drips. I'm not a yellow fan, but in that combination it can be stunning. Live or not, i actually don't mind Julia, but i can imagine for you to get live and have potterie friends online at that moment is very exciting, like a meeting with peoples that read the same page in a hobby that is so fascinating ❤ The pumpkin goes to Jeanette, that is so sweet and in a way i knew something like that was coming. I'm sure your pumpkin will get a place of honour at Jeanette's. The chips on that bowl came out so good, a lovely piece. And then the big one on the 3 feet, gorgeous Julia. Have a nice weekend, hope it is getting a bit warmer.... here this morning 4 ⁰C, to cold so suddenly..... Next week in the low 20 again 😊 better to get slowly into the autumn. Bye Julia Greets Sheila From over the pond 😂 ❤ 👋
Hi lovely Sheila, thankyou for your kind comments. A live would be exciting you are right, Nat from mudmagic did one and it was lovely to text to the other people on the live. I just did a tiktok live for the first time tonight while making a skull platter 😊 Weather is the same here Sheila, it got cold very quickly and will be slightly milder next week. Lots of love from this side of the pond ❤️ xx
@@ceramicsbyjulia8552 oww you are welcome Julia. Oh wowie, the skull in a plate. That would be awesome. Can't wait to see it. I'm going to have a sniff around too on Temu. Bought a while ago on there and i have to say I'm happy with what I got and used it instant, in fact glazing time for me at the moment (bought cookie cutters, little pointy spouts, silicon molds, chrissie and halloween texture roller pins) Okay Julia in the mean time I'm looking forward to your next posts. Bye Love Sheila (Over the pond) ♥
OH MY GOSH THAT CHAIN IS SOOOO AMAZING!! I sooo love it!! I pray it came off ok. And omg the ball and chain too!!!! I swear it looks soo real!! Did you really make the at out of clay?? Wow! Pretty please sweetheart do a tutorial on this if it’s not too much to ask. I just can’t believe it!! You are soo brilliant!! That ball and chain reminds me off when my oldest sister got married and my dad got the heaviest bowling ball he could find and drilled holes into it and had a chain that he had to carry with him!! Hahaha.
Hi lovely, yes it came off really well, the manganese just seems to frit a little bit, might try a combo of manganese and iron oxide next time. I fancy just making a huge long chain and just coil it up in the kiln 😄
@@ceramicsbyjulia8552It does that for me too. It’s shiny so I’ve never put it on the bottoms etc. I wasn’t done watching yet, you know how I have to text as I go or I’ll forget!! Lol. The bowls and that platter are amaaaazing!! I love that toasted clay color so much. Awesome kiln load love!!!
The glaze chip bowl is gorgeous as well. I’ve been doing that forever and I love the surprises I get. To get color on the placemats if you want to try this you can press the mats into the clay and then apply the underglaze to the parts of the clay that aren’t covered by the mat. It’s kindof a reverse of what we usually do. If you do that with the toasted clay I think it would look beautiful!!
@micheledickey4066 luckily it was only slightly stuck,, but the chain is fused together so not very chainy 😆 Thankyou I am really happy with this kiln load 😊 .
I have just been doing a tiktok live for the skull placemat, but glazing each individual piece as I watched Tiffany from Hobble creek and hers didn't keep much underglaze on so decided to glaze it separately. Now you have said it I def need to do one in the rich toasted ❤️
