Honestly, I regard her as the master of the "riff and run" technique. No other singer I've heard can hit those down or up runs as PRECISELY as her! Every single note on her runs are adroit and exact, it's completely amazing! I mean other singers are really good at "runs" but they do not use as many notes as Kim Burrel. She can hit like 10 to 15 notes on a run so easily....I truly admire her!

I remember when I heard this year's ago with Mike Bereal playing the organ. He's played so melodically....he killed it!!! A great song to hear when you need your spirit lifted. This is a reminder when things could be worse than your present circumstances.

Her riffs and runs are AWESOME but the most AMAZING and most UNIQUE quality of her vocals is her range with the raspyness of her voice! It's truly one of a kind.

I was there that night at Mason Temple and she brought the house down, it was electrifying. She called for her brother Micheal Burrell to get on the organ and thatwas all she wrote. You should have been there to hear The Nelson's, the girls behind her in the black,the did "I've Got Company." It was a night to remember!
Now I have always believed that if you're going to sing a song, SING THE SONG! The legendary Bishop Walter Hawkins we all know is phenominal in his own right, but Kim Burrell has taken this iconic selection and made it her own . This is what I mean, I am not concerned with who sang or recorded the song first - it does not matter at all! Just listen to her vocals, they are second to none. The blessing is that there is room for both renditions by Bishop Hawkins and Kim Burrell and there is nothing wrong with that! Don't forget, both of them will sing you CRAZY!!!!! and thats a tremendous blessing to all that will hear.
It's simply evolution of music and time. Sometimes people disregard history...it took the Clarks to bring us the amazing Kim Burrell and others that we love and enjoy for we all stand on the shoulders of those who've paved the way and gone before us, right?

Its amazing that some of you to have any concept of worship and praise. The fact the people are enjoying one's singing simply says that they are in agreement with her worship. I think some are making a BIG deal about nothing but having an awesome time in church. And of course some that are commenting were not at this event and have no idea of the atmosphere!!!!

It really amazes me how the people of God can look at an annointed woman of God such as Kim and be fazed by her riffs and runs. I agree with tcphilosopher that her singing is not taken seriously. As a musician, I know how that feels sometimes. You feel as if you are a spectacle and then it can sometimes be for show. I thank God for the annointing on Kim and others that sing, preach and play for the love of HIM!!!
