Kim Cattrall Subtly Reacts to Sex and The City Revival 

Samantha was probably one of the most sincerest of the ladies, especially when it comes to friendship. She was a true ride or die.

I wish they’d given other more fun, lighthearted reasons as to why Samantha wasn’t there, like “she’s on tour with a rock band she’s promoting” “she’s on a six month retreat in Nepal” or “since she’s a breast cancer survivor over 60 she bought a house in New Zealand to avoid COVID”

Two things Samantha would never do: -Get mad with her friends over money -Not reply to a text after Carrie’s husband died

Samantha is the embodiement of the name "Sex and the city", Carrie is the narrator, but Samantha is the real deal.

The scene where they addressed Kim’s absence felt personal as hell. Reading between the lines, it seems that Carrie’s words were coming from the real life person’s actual feelings about Kim’s decision. It disrespectful. Kim is a grown woman and has always eloquently offered explanations as to why she was closing that chapter in her life. Y’all are lucky we got TWO movies out of Kim.

There must have been several ways to write out Kim's character, but they had to choose one from the most derogatory. I can totally see why she left.

When Kristen was talking at the end I couldn’t help but think- they needed 4 characters to replace the void left by Samantha. 😂 She was always the most interesting character to me.

“More to her than an ATM?” Samantha always seemed like she had more money than all of them! Ridiculous way to write her out of the show. i’m like actually pissed 😅

Somebody needs to create a show based around Samantha Jones. That character alone is FARrrrr more exciting and interesting than all these 3 put together.

Kim Cattrall made the absolute right choice. I mean - acting is her profession and she saw that her character was 'played out' in the series.

Why would Kim want to surround herself with 3 bitter toxic women who treated her disrespectfully bc they were jealous of her stealing the show . She can’t help how fabulous she is and that she made Samantha one of the most iconic characters in modern TV history. Kim is so classy at how she’s handled this situation. Funny how she’s not on the new revival series but remains such a huge topic of conversation lol. A true star ⭐️❤️

I think they handled this in the most catty and bitter way possible. Pathetic. Samantha was my favorite character and I support Kim's reasons to stay away. She left the mess and drama and I respect it 1000% 👏🏻

As much as I love Charlotte, I feel like she was the only disposable character without whom the series works. Samantha was just wayyyy too important.

I think Kim made the right decison. Between Kristin's overly botoxed face, bigs death, chris noth recent sex allegations, the addition of weird characters, and the way they are portraying Sam.... I think kim was right about all of this. She knew itd be total crap.

One thing that Kim was right about when they wanted to make SATC 3 she said no because it was about Big dying and her friends trying to be there for Carrie and nothing more. So lets see how its going to evolve as an show

Weird that Kristin Davis says the decision regarding Samatha's character was up to King and HBO Max when it has been clear from the start Kim Cattrall chose not to return.

Kim has moved on, people should stop asking why! She's busy and seems to be happy in her life.

This Actress Kim is really classy and full of grace. She handled her absence very mature and discret. I'm a bit disappointed how petty and whinny the other two (I expected it from sjp) answered the questions. They don't want to get bothered,and it's hilarious that Sam's absence is more important and matters more than the three reuniting. After all, Kim is the winner of the situation. I wish her best,even if her character will be missed.

Carrie and Miranda's discussion about Samantha in episode 1 was tacky, petty, and clearly intended to hurt Kim and her reputation. Every SATC fan knows about the behind-the-scenes drama, so that conversation felt very uncomfortable and unnecessarily drawn-out (likely thought up or at least encouraged by SJP). It didn't fit the character. Thankfully, Kim is above all of this mess. Like she said, she played Samantha far beyond the finish line and I'm glad that she recognized she needed to move on.

Kim Cattrall is class, class, classy and I, for one, love her!!! As a fellow actress, I more than respect her decision!! And just like that.....she made the right choice!!

I hope the rest of these episodes don't turn out to be a constant middle finger to Kim, as the first 2 have. In my opinion, Samantha was the character that made the show interesting & worth watching. She was certainly my favorite of the 4 ladies. Carrie was just petty most of the time, but Samantha was always there for her. These writers could've come up with a way to be respectful to Samantha, but they chose being petty & slapping KIM in the face, instead. Just a very low move on their part and very disappointing for us fans.

Kim definitely made the better choice b/c the revival series is stale. Then they have Big dying off in the first episode. It feels like no one else had anything better to do than to stretch this series further than what it needed to be. They should’ve left it alone. We have HBO Max to rewatch the series in its glory days when it was actually a fun and funny show.

Samantha would never drop their friendship over business! They definitely could of done better in writing the story on how Sam left. Sam brought Sex in the City! She was the most sexual out of them all. She will be missed :-(

I felt that Kim Cattrall made the right decision not to go back for another season. I turned it off after BIG died, and thought the Mirada awkward moments were too much to take. People need more Hope right now with everything that's going on with the world at this time, and Big dying was a seriously harsh move in this case. The earlier shows were much brighter and more fun to watch, so I'm hoping they go back to what worked well with the shows past success. Kim, you avoided a train wreck- good for you!

I always found Samatha the most interesting character in the series, and the one that evolved and grew the most. Carrie seemed a bit whinny and her character just kept doing the same personal mistakes over and over. I would definitely go out of my way to tune into a series about Samantha’s second act. As a result of her breast cancer, I could see her abroad working with Doctors with our boarders. Going out side her comfort zone, and being a force to get things done in Africa and helping people. What do you picture Samantha doing in her second act?

The character Samantha would never have done that. Whoever thought up that plotline needs their head examined.

I think the explication that was given was a MASSIVE DISSERVICE TO THE CHARACTER OF SAMANTHA and how much she always valued her friendships. I've lived away from my home for 19 years and I still hold my friendships dear and communicate with my friends mostly through message apps biweekly or monthly. We don't video call because each is busy with their lives where they live, and I can't travel home due to COVID restrictions, even for a funeral. I respect Kim and understand her choice, which has nothing to do with why Samantha isn't in New York now. The reality of Covid and life easily provided for a better integration of the Samantha character and storyline. So far 3 strikes for me on the storylines - Samantha's absence, Carrie not calling 911 (even if he did die anyway), and Miranda's socially awkward verbage... the experienced lawyer and person we know would not be making these mistakes constantly.

They did her wrong. Samantha wouldn't betray her friends over money. SJP hates her (Kim) and knows how iconic her role is and is trying to pit people against her IRL.

The way Samantha was written off is BS. If the show had any class, they could have just had her working in London, and show some text screens with her popping in to say hi on occasion. Instead, they had things mirror real life. Quite a cheap shot.

samantha would have rushed to be by carrie's side after BIG and she also would never end the friendship over something like that. I dont only feel they did a disservice to her character but also to the fans who have adored the show and the characters and their stories for 20plus years. killing off a character we loved for over 20 years was unnecessary and brutal and the cringe struggle to fit in with modern jargon is painful to watch. this show didnt need to happen. I loved these girls but i didnt need them back this bad, not like this.

The other cast members are 10 yrs younger than her. Imagine playing the role of Samantha at 65!?! I’d be over it too. Then add in shitty treatment and you can forget it!

They could have had Samantha move away to London or LA permanently and just communicate with the girls via texts, similar to how Greys Anatomy deal with Sandra Oh not reprising her role. Requires ZERO input from Kim Cattrall but would allow the friendship to continue without having to tarnish the characters legacy.

I’ll say it, Kim Catrall is too good for this reboot and they need her more than she needs them. The show is garbage 🗑 lets be honest Big was holding it together and after they killed his character there is almost nothing left. I’ll be surprised if it makes it past 5-6 episodes

In SATC Miranda was the cinical one, prone to mistake, but accepting and apologising if case, Charlotte was the subtle naive and romantic socialite, Carrie was always needing their support, but Samantha, she was the most powerful one: she didn't judge others choices, she stood next to Carrie, she said her opinions straight forward and she was savvy. I DO NOT recognize the Samantha they are talking about. She wouldn't move to London, she absolutely LOVES New York and I don't see her "firing Carrie as a friend"! EVER!!!!!

I think it's pretty clear the mean girls don't want Kim back. LOL. They make sugar taste sour. I think Samantha's storyline and acting held that show together for a long ass time and still SJP sucked all the credit. I watched the first night and I'm gonna take a pass. Kim is a class act, she knows when to leave and enjoy what she did... After Sex and The City 2 movie I knew it was enough for me and leave it the way I like to remember such an iconic show all 6 seasons on disc is good enough for me... No need to watch a desperate reboot...

A good actor knows when to make an exit. It’s hard to say if this version of the show is ever going to reach the level of success of the original. Besides, I think considering her past comments on not considering her cast mates as “friends” might make things kinda frosty if they have to work together. I think Kim has good instincts. Sometimes things are perfect just the way they are.

After watching that Trainwreck 1st ep of the new series, it reiterated the saying “A Lady Always know When It’s Time To Leave The Party”.....

Although I deeply miss Samantha I think Kim has to make these decisions for herself. But the story line.... couldn't she just leave for a job in London? Sam would never ruin a friendship because Carrie didn't need her for work. And even if this would happen in SATC She would still talk to Miranda and Charlotte.

Kim Cattrall was right not to take the part , if they could break Samantha's characters just to throws shades at her , after the second movie which already made Samantha a disgrace. SJP is just mean ,and hypocrite 🙄.

I think them just simply saying Samantha moved to london to continue her PR career would have been better than her and carrie falling out over money. They could have still had Samantha part of the show by having the girls mention her and what she up to every once in awhile. Kind of like what fuller house did with the Olsen twins absence on the show, and it honestly still possible to make the characters make up with her still not being on the show.

I'd agree with most all of the comments. Isn't it obvious that KIM was the BEST & Hottest of the show?? That's why they keep NAGGING her!!! It's a shame how it's some people's nature to want to try to relive the magic of the past. Sadly we can't & some of us learn that in life and others don't. Oh but HOW I WISH we could go back in time and not only relive the past but to do it with ALL the future knowledge & experience we gained!!

I will continue to enjoy the movies and old episodes. I’m not going to force myself to watch this reboot because it’s not the same. I admire them for moving on because you can’t stop the show for one person. But Samantha was the show stopper. It’s just not the same without her.

I kind of figured that they would write Mr big off…. Because the audience is not going to be interested in this unless you turn these girls back in the dating women in their fifties…. There would be no story line if they’re not able to date…(Dating later in life and showing the difficulties as an older woman dating there’d be no show if they were married right)?

As we grow older, we simply outgrow friends. That would have been a much simpler way to write Samantha off the show. Samantha was not the 'married with kids' type so it makes sense that she would have little in common with the rest of the group now.

TBH I have only watched the films and from Sex and The City 2, Samantha didn't turn her friends down for a date in Abu Dhabi at the club even though she's a sexaholic. so how they handled her leave from the show is still open for debate in my opinion. they could have just said she got aboard opportunities, but no, as usual, everything has to be about Carrie.

I respect Kim’s decision not to return especially if the rumors were true of all the catty nature that was going on and her time to move on. I will say her character will be highly missed as Samantha was ahead of her time and now we literally see it play out now. Could you imagine her on the podcast instead of Carrie. PERFECT FIT!!!

The show is not the same without Samantha but congratulations on Kim for following her own path, on her own terms of her own choice. Shes been acting for a lot longer and deserves her ‘me time’. (I will miss her!)

This revival is complete garbage. The show sucks big time...without Samantha there is no show, there never was a show without her and the only reason for all the seasons was Kim playing Samantha. Making a show that was all about Sam without her will NEVER be a success. SJP might have been the main character but she was no queen and no one watched the show for her. Face it we all tuned in for Sam. And the way they addressed her exit was not only tactless and distasteful it was a low blow specially from SJP. It was sooooo lame I could not get past the part where Carrie trashes Sam with things that are soo out of character for Samantha and then saying Carrie was just like an ATM for Sam when SJP was always the one with the lowest income until she got married to Mr. Big. I only made it to the part where Charlotte gets back to the apartment to show the girls their dress. This will bomb as much as any other show where the real heart of it all was never involved. Kim made the right choice not accepting this revival. The show was over years ago and they should move on

Have you ever left a job? As in - you worked somewhere for a long time, had a good run and then resigned when you were ready to? That's how things work. I wish everyone would let it go. She made the right choice. This looks like a thumping bore. They keep patting themselves on the back for how they are handling it really well - just say "We support her choice" and move on. These guys just keep leaving the gate open for everyone to poke. They say more about it than she does.

I actually like what they did with the story low-key. It depicts those long-time relationships that just go up in smoke and surprise you.

Thank goodness can we finally move forward….I’m loving this new chapter in their lives I enjoy watching how they’ve matured in age, look so beautiful and made it so relatable it’s a part of living and we will all go down this path it’s inevitable. I believe those having difficulty embracing advancing in age may have work to do within themselves. Yes of course it was sad to see Big pass on but again a relatable part of living. Naturally we will always Love and miss our Samantha however just like Sam has moved forward in her real life and we wish her the best always if down the road they have a change of heart ♥️ so be it!

Out of the 4 characters, I loved Samantha the most - a v genuine friend and tough cookie. No unnecessary drama from her and speaks her mind. Epitome of beauty and style. Such awesome fashion sense. And not whiny like the other 3. That’s why I cannot bear to watch the new series without her.

I’m actually disappointed at this whole comeback with the show. I think a lot of fans will not watch the show. 1. Their acting has gotten worse. I didn’t like kim first but now I am on her side. The fact that big died is horrible. They should have created another story line. Also, they could have said that Samantha went to a different country and that’s why she send the flowers because she couldn’t be there. This is just horrible writing and their acting again is so bad I can’t even say. Btw Carrie used to be my favorite. I loveeeeeeddddd the show. It’s been ruined for me now. !!!!

The real life events with SJP & KC made me want to admit my wrongs and fix the relationship I have with an old friend that I'm thankful that I have known most of my life NOW 💝 so yeah thank you Kim for being cold-hearted and learning that you can't forgive but you still can

I am watching the first episode right now, im 20 mins in and i immediately thought OMG that is sooo bad taste. I would have preferred if they had just not discussed Samantha at all... but instead, they talked about it... and then brought it up again, and again, and it was just too awkward because it wasn't just about "Samantha and the girls", it was about Kim and the others, and that was just bad taste. Disappointing. So far, Im not impressed. Only part i like so far is Big and Carrie... 😬

In the second movie they made a comic about Samantha, like a joke (when her character was always ahead of times with dignity). It's normal she didn't want to come back. Now the other gals have the same age than Samantha in the last movie, and the focus is drastically different, they get be treated with respect, elegance, etc.
